September 17, 1931 – March 11, 2019
Jensen, Doris Elaine Nestler – Passed away peacefully at Stedman Hospice, Brantford, ON, Monday, March 11, 2019. She will be dearly missed by her brother Peter and his wife Ruth Ann, nephew Paul Jensen (Deb) and many cousins. Predeceased by nephew Eric. Doris was a professor of biology and, for many years, associate dean of sciences for McMaster University. She kept busy with many of the things she loved doing; ceramics, raising sheep and cattle, riding horses, collecting stamps, needlepoint, and painting. More recently she researched and wrote a book on Bulbophyllum orchids. She was a twenty-five year member of the Toronto Orchid Judging Centre of the American Orchid Society. She travelled the world (France, South Africa, Malaysia, Zanzibar, China and others) judging and studying orchids. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Stedman Hospice for their outstanding care during Doris’ final days: she felt she was truly pampered. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, March 26th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for a Celebration of Doris’ Life at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Sharing memories of Doris will begin at 12 noon. Memorial donations for Doris to the Stedman Hospice in Brantford, would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Allan “Scott” Cox, 52, unexpectedly passed away on March 10, 2019.
Scott is survived by his wife Tanya, sons Steven and Andrew, daughters Heather (Kyle) and Rebekah, and puppies Nala and Ava. Scott was a loving father, husband, and friend.
Scott was born in Orillia, Ontario to Allan and Elizabeth Cox. On June 10, 1989, he married his former wife, Theresa Murphy, and shared four children. He worked as a contractor before opening his own business, Allan’s Plaster and Painting, which came to an end in 1997. Starting in a new direction, Scott went to Mohawk College for Integrated Technology and began his IT career at CIBC, where he met his current wife, Tanya (Wood) Cox. Tanya and Scott were married on September 5th, 2003; they were happily married for 15 years.
Scott enjoyed barbecuing and cooking (especially steak & the spicier the better), always with a glass of red wine. Scott had many pastimes – one of his favorites being waking his kids up for school by playing Green Day on his electric guitar with the amp turned up to the max. He also enjoyed watching football, his favourite team being the San Francisco 49ers. Scott was a dreamer, and always had more projects on the go than you could count. Always with some type of renovation work to be done, you wouldn’t catch him wearing anything other than his safety Crocs, which doubled as snowshoes, and aided in his unwavering protest of winter. Scott loved to engage in profound conversation and always imparted his wisdom to his children. A loving and dedicated father, Scott cherished time with his family greatly, especially games night. Scott had a playful spirit and always had a joke or sarcastic remark for anything that came at him.
A dedicated follower of Christ since 1991, Scott remained faithful to the end.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Friday, March 15th at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, ON L9H 2P7.

Dumayne, Alfred “Pat” – 31 January 1930 – 10 March 2019
We are saddened to announce the passing of Pat, peacefully at his residence, following a brief illness and a long and full life. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Grace, daughter Isabel (Roger) Janke of Waterloo, grandchildren Patrick and James Groves, Kitchener, ON, Kevin Janke (Peggy), Toronto, Jillian Janke-Wittig (Chad), Kitchener and 3 great-grandchildren, brother Thomas (Lynn) Dumayne of London, ON. Predeceased by infant son James (1959), daughter Janet (2003), four sisters Ethel, Isabel, Mabel and Mary and brother George. Born in Lachine, Quebec, Pat proudly served 23 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force where he spent his career building and maintaining Air Force bases across Canada and in particular the North, retiring as Master Warrant Officer. He was the former Superintendent of Maintenance for McMaster University, Hamilton, ON from1968 – 1989. Pat was an ardent lover of nature, history, the outdoors, fishing and golf. He was a lifetime member and Past President of the Dundas Valley Golf and Country Club, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 36, Dundas, ON, and Christ Church, Flamborough, Dundas, ON. Pat enjoyed many years of golf and playing cards with his friends. He was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed by many. The family wish to express appreciation to the entire Medical Team who cared for Pat with compassion and caring over the past few months and the staff at Amica, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Pat’s Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, March 15th at 2:00 p.m. at CHRIST CHURCH ANGLICAN, 92 Hwy 8, Dundas. Donations to Christ Church Anglican or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #36 Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Plumtree, Gerald Walter “Gerry” – Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on March 1, 2019, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Cornelia Plumtree (nee Wallick) of Dundas, ON. Brother to Janet Steward of Dundas, ON and Bob of Alberta. Predeceased by brother Jim. Gerry was an uncle to many nieces and nephews, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was born June 18, 1931 in Matheson, ON and served in the army from 1948-1952 in Korea. Throughout the years, his career included a brakeman for the ONR Railway to carpentry. He married Cornelia in June 23, 1973. Recently, he resided at St. Joseph’s Villa, where he received excellent care. A memorial service will be held at the Dundas Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 370 Brock Road, Dundas, ON, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. Donations can be given to the Dundas Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Peacefully at the Stedman Hospice on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the age of 71. Only son of Mildred and the late Frank Sr. Beloved husband for almost 50 years to Janet (nee Sharpe), and loving father to Barbara Oakes (the late Rich) and Phil (Tammy). Involved grandfather of Clayton, Ashley, Hunter, Sadie, Cooper and Connor. Frank will be sadly missed by his 4 sisters; Kathie Flaherty (Mike), Janis Butler (Ed), June Gray-Wheeler (Donnie), Laurie Mysko (Glenn), the Sharpe family, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was a former member of the BMHL Hockey League, the Copetown Oldtimers Baseball League and was a former member and Past President of the Copetown Lions Club. Frank’s passions were golfing, his family (especially his grandchildren) and being a friend to all. Friends are invited to the interment Friday, March 8 at 12 noon at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Copetown, followed by a Celebration of Frank’s Life at the COPETOWN COMMUNITY CENTRE, 1950 Governor’s Road, Copetown, at 1 o’clock, with sharing of memories and stories at 2. Reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Copetown Lions Club or Margaret’s Place Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

Passed away peacefully on February 26th in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Alistair for over 62 years. Loving mother to Bruce (Sandra) and Lynn Smith. Caring grandmother to Derek and Colin. Sister-in-law to Helen Paterson, Doug and Dorothy Smith, Albert and Brian Smith. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service or visitation. YORK, Charles Murray – Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 89. For over 60 years, Murray was the beloved husband of Effie who passed away in 2013. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Sheelagh Boin (Louis), and his grandchildren David, Jordan, Christian, and Jacqueline. Predeceased by his dear son David John, his loving parents Charles and Muriel, dear Aunts Bev, Kay and Jess, and his cousin Barry Base. He will be greatly missed by his nieces Gayle Gregory (Greg) and Karen Hyatt (Bev), and his nephew Bruce Gregory. Murray was the Principal Cost Accountant at International Harvester for over 30 years. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement during which time he became a tour guide at The Hamilton Spectator for more than a decade. Murray was a faithful and active member of Westdale United Church of Hamilton and its community for many years devotedly helping Effie with whatever initiative she was organizing. He was always supportive and was her behind the scenes partner in establishing Westdale/West Hamilton Seniors and Retirees. Friends will be received by the family at WESTDALE UNITED CHURCH, 99 North Oval, Hamilton on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. until the Celebration of Murray’s Life at 11:00 a.m. Private family committal at a later date. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at both Christopher Terrace in Burlington and Aberdeen Gardens in Hamilton for their loving care, the doctors and nurses at Joseph Brant Hospital for their professional and compassionate attention, as well as Dr. Sharon Marr for kindness and support over the years. Pennington, Agnes Mary “Becky” – passed away peacefully at Hope Street Terrace in Port Hope on Friday, February 22nd, she was 94. She is survived by her daughter Ann (Paul), 2 grandchildren Emily and Graham and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Jim and brothers John, Richard and George and sister Marion. She is survived by her 2 sisters-in-law Isabel and Joan. Becky was a long time member of St. Augustine’s C.W.L. and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Villa for many years. She was an avid bowler, golfer and you could always find her doing laps at the Dundas Driving Park. Funeral Mass will take place at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Friday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a mass card would be appreciated.

MacLEOD, James Alastaire Weaver, 79. It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to our husband, father, Papa and best friend Jim MacLeod. Jim passed away on February 23rd after a short hospital stay in his 80th year. Beloved husband to Carolyn MacLeod. Cherished father to Grant( Sandy) and the late Jennifer Merriam (Ron). Proud grandfather to Dana, Elijah, Maryn, Owen and Benjamin. Son of the late Thelma Weaver and Hamish MacLeod. Jim was predeceased by his little brother Douglas. Jim was born in Ottawa, Ontario on Sept 4th, 1939 and soon thereafter he moved to Weston, ON where he grew up. He was a proud “Aggie” graduating with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Guelph and later went on to specialise in Civil Engineering at U of T. Jim worked for various engineering firms, W.J Lehman, CC Parker, Peto-MacCallum before settling in at Mohawk College where he retired as Chairman of their technology programs. Jim loved all things to do with building and construction; designing and building two of his homes. If he wasn’t deep into a project he was likely planning the next one or helping his children, neighbours and friends with their projects. He loved skiing and was a member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club. He loved his golden retrievers and they were always at his side. Jim made you feel special: 5 minutes after you met him you felt you’d known him forever. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, February 27th from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Jim’s celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

McKee, William Patrick “Bill” – It is with great sadness we announce Bill’s sudden and unexpected passing on Monday, February 11, 2019 at age 59. He will be dearly loved and missed always by his wife Anna of 33 years; sons Ryan (Francine Cabral), Bradley and Eric; mother Joan McKee Walsh; brother Robert; sisters Linda McKee-Kinloch and Sandra McKittrick (Ken); granddaughter Raine, sister-in-law Margaret Dubiel and brother-in-law Edward Dubiel as well as his nieces and nephews, Jessica, Anthony, Nicole, Kristie and Connor; step-brothers and sisters and his devoted dog Kash. Predeceased by his father Donald Francis McKee and step-father Leo Walsh. Bill was truly a selfless, all around person, with a zest for life and gave so much to all he loved and knew. He lived by example and never took life for granted, living each and every day to the fullest. He loved his family and friends, he was a wonderful father and husband and he enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, playing hockey and just being outside enjoying nature. Friends will be received by the family on Monday, February 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Bill’s Mass will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Tuesday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
