Holroyd, James “Jim”

February 20, 1931 – April 23, 2019

Holroyd, James “Jim” – passed on April 23rd, 2019 at the age of 88. Jim was born February 20, 1931 in Oldham, Lancashire, England to William and Hannah Holroyd, and immigrated to Canada in 1978. He was a self-employed painter and decorator. Jim always had a story to tell, a joke to be shared, and a cheek of a grin. Jim was the beloved husband to his late wife Barbara, and brother to late sibling Peter Holroyd. Jim is survived by his sister Rita Barnes, and his brother Denis Holroyd (Sheila). Loving father to Peter (Annette), Janet (Steven), Gillian (Chris). Proud grandfather to Paula, Cheryl, Matthew, Sherilyn, Cole, Chelsea, and Luke. Jim was a “chuffed” great-grandfather to Archie and Leila. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation between 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, followed shortly after by a gathering at a nearby Pub. Jim had a great passion for reading, so in lieu of flowers, donations to the Hamilton Public Library would be appreciated. Help Jim give the gift of reading to others.

Munn, Mary Beth (formerly Capper, Cummins) (nee Brown)

Born March 30th, 1924. Mary Beth passed peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Good Friday, April 19th, 2019 in her 96th year, surrounded by family. Survived by her brother, Rev. Donald C. Brown and family; daughter, Susan Gogishvili and family; son, Charles Cummins and family; and the Capper and Munn families. She was an active member of St. James Anglican Church in Dundas and a teacher in the Hamilton Elementary School System for 29 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, aunt and friend to many and will be lovingly remembered. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 137 Melville Street, Dundas, at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, May 4th, followed by a Celebration of Life which will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Baranga’s On-The-Beach, 380 Van Wagners Beach Road, Hamilton. All are welcome. Memorial donations to St. James would be appreciated by the family.

Shaw, Garry Michael

July 14, 1965 – April 20, 2019

Shaw, Garry Michael – Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in his 54th year. Beloved husband of Danielle. Caring brother to Rhona, Peter (Becky), and John Shaw (Mary). Beloved brother-in-law to John Segato (Debbie). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Helen Shaw of Greenock, Scotland. Garry loved golfing with his friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and would try to golf abroad when possible. He enjoyed discussing politics as well as current events and would contribute letters to the editor in the Spectator. Garry had a great sense of humour and loved to debate. He loved his dogs, Dexter and Dusty, and missed Toto (2015) greatly. He enjoyed taking them for walks to the park. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Wednesday, April 24th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations can be made in memory to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.

Green, Jack Frederick

January 26, 1925 – April 16, 2019

Green, Jack Frederick – Of Dundas passed away at St. Joseph Hospital peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the age of 94. Born on January 26, 1925 in Hamilton. He was the son of Allen and Alice Green. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Norma. Jack grew up in West Hamilton with a shot gun and fishing pole in his hands, he loved the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, camping or just enjoying a long walk. Jack also enjoyed watching sports and was a familiar face around the local ball diamonds and arenas as he followed the local sports teams. Jack always seemed to have a smile on his face and a witty comment or come back for you. Surviving Jack are his son Brett (Louie) Green of Dundas and daughter Darci Beamish (Green) of Calgary, her three children Christopher Beamish (Melissa), Kimberly Vockins (Beamish) and Cameron Beamish and his two great-grandchildren Marshall and Vayda. As well as his brother Dave, brothers-in-law Brad Clarke, Jack Peer & sister-in-law Jane Biggins. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Christine Green and son-in-law Dale Beamish, brothers Allen, Alf, Art, Ernest and sisters Sally Peer, Annalea (Polly) Clarke, Mary Campbell and Ellen Held. Jack will be missed by all his surviving family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. West and all the nurses and staff at Blackadars Continuing Care for all the compassion and care shown to Jack during his stay. In keeping with Jack’s wishes cremation has taken place and interment will take place at graveside with his family. If you so wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.

Auliffe, Patricia Anne (nee Stewart, Moir)

June 7, 1934 – April 12, 2019

Peacefully, and with a valiant determination to stay, Mom lost her battle with cancer at the age of 84. She left this world on her own terms, in her own home and with her children by her side. She leaves now to join her beloved husband Carl. We find comfort in knowing that no finer man could be waiting for her on the other side. Finding strength in her spirit forevermore are her children, Steve (Lorraine), Fred (Sally), Jeff (Karen) and Cyndi, and her grandchildren; Stefanie and Jorden Moir, Tammy Billard, Alanah Head, Erin Sneyd, Lindsay and Chelsea Moir, Kylie Harris and Cody Howard and her great-grandchildren, Sophia, James, Autumn, Charlotte and Everly. They will grow to know their Great-Grandma through our stories and remembrances. Mom also leaves behind her step-children, Karla, Kelly and Kamala and her sisters, Anne Litzen and Val Owens. Mom is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mabel, and her siblings, Shirley, George and Jim. Mom was retired from the A&P in Dundas and loved playing cards, winning at the casino and spending time at the Hamilton Air Force club. She leaves behind her cat Pepper, who continues to search for her since her passing. We thank Dr. Kouroukis, without whom she may not have had the opportunity to meet her great grandchildren. We thank Dr. Anna-Marie Emili who, with her care and commitment, made mom’s passing as peaceful as possible. Lastly, we would like to extend our appreciation to our support team, PSW’s Michelle, Vicky and Mary, VON and LHIN staff who supported us in mom’s final days. Special thanks to Colleen and George. Gumbert, Kimberley Ann (nee Main)

September 11, 1964 – March 28, 2019

Gumbert (Main), Kimberley – Kim passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 28th, 2019, following a hard fought battle with cancer. She will be missed by her husband of 26 years, Stephen, their daughters Helena (Cameron) and Lisa (Matthew); grandchildren, Sebastian and Olivia, her brother Terry; her in-laws Kelly (Bruce Christian) and Bill (Carol Gumbert) and all of her extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her many dear friends; and is predeceased by her parents Bill and Joanne (Main). Kim was always the life of the party; she was a person that always looked out for everyone, whether it was as a daycare provider, red hatter, or a member of Dundas Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Dundas Baptist Church (201 Governors Rd.) followed by a reception at the Hamilton Air Force Association (128 King St. E., Dundas). Thomson, James “Jim”

July 18, 1940 – March 27, 2019

Thomson, James “Jim” – Suddenly, at his home on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Joy (nee Rutherford), and loving father to James Thomson (Lynda) of N.S., and Jodie Grigsby (Derek) oif Hamilton. Loving Grampa of J.T. and Robert Thomson and Uncle Grampie to Shyla Craig. Predeceased by his brother Peter, and sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Betty Thomson and Christine Marshall (Ron) and brother-in-law Paul Rutherford. Jim will also be missed by his nephews Donald (Pam), John and David Marshall, niece Denise Armstrong and by his much loved cousins in Scotland and Ontario. Jim was a member of the Thursday Afternoon Singers, the Copetown Carvers, Knox Presbyterian Church, and was a former member of the Clans of York Pipe Band, Toronto and the Georgetown Pipe Band. Friends will be received by the family on Friday evening, April 5 from 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. The Memorial Service for Jim will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 11 a.m.at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 23 Melville Street, Dundas. Eldridge, Alison Mackenzie (nee McKenzie)

September 21, 1934 – March 23, 2019

Peacefully at home on March 23, 2019 with her daughter Vicky, her granddaughter Maria and the dog Hamish by her side listening to Nat King Cole. Mum was a tenacious Scottish woman, an accountant, a devoted wife to the late Edward Eldridge, a loving supportive mother, a proud granmama; a woman of faith. She embodied strength in weakness, faith in times of doubt, humour in chaos, and instructed that there is always time to bake shortbread and empire cookies for beloved friends. Maria and I are most grateful for the kindness from the staff at LHIN for the compassionate care from the staff at St. Elizabeth’s, the palliative care nurses from St. Joseph’s and Dr. Jim McMillan who graced our home these past weeks. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in memory of Alison to ARISE Ministry, a mission of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, 101 Wilson Avenue, North York, ON, M5M 2Z9. A funeral service will take place at West Flamboro Presbyterian Church, 262 Middletown Rd, Flamborough, ON, on Tuesday March 26, at 12:00 noon.

Mysak, Maisie Belle (nee Forbes)

February 4, 1934 – March 22, 2019

It was with great sadness on March 22, Maisie Belle Mysak’s family and friends gathered by her side to say “bye for now”. A tired angel, she was called home to rest after bravely living life for many years with Parkinson’s. Predeceased by her husband Peter. Loving mother to Mark Landon (Niki, Liam) and Paul Landon (Cathy). Caring grandmother to Jessica Landon and Grace Landon. Survived by her sister Carolyn (Tom) McGregor and her brother Donald Forbes as well as her niece Mary-Anne Forbes (Joshua). She will always be remembered for her genuine caring ways, along with her amazing sense of humour and wit. Maisie’s love of life, family, and friends radiated the room and brought happiness to all. She will be affectionately missed, and never forgotten. Maisie proudly worked for the Hamilton Board of Education for many years, teaching the primary grades and later on, the special education class. Many thanks to the staff at Regina Gardens Long Term Care for the kind care for Maisie over the last two years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Parkinson’s Society. Crowder, Roy Douglas “Doug”

December 13, 1943 – March 15, 2019

Passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Friday, March 15, 2019. Husband of Tonnie and father of Ed Crowder (Mary); Teresa McConnell (Art), Roy Crowder (Brandi) and step-father to Jackie Simpson. Grandfather of Eddie, Emma, Erik, Doug, Jason, Cam, Kayden, Rylend, Brodie and Victoria and great-grandfather of Remington. Doug will be sadly missed by his 4 sisters; Joan Holland, Gayle Hudson, Suzanne Sutherland (John) and Lynda Eastabrook (Harry) and by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at the RCL Branch 36, 280 King Street West, Dundas, on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 2- 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Peter’s Palliative Ward would be appreciated by the family.
