In loving memory of Ruth Joyce Helm. Born November 1, 1932, in Hamilton and passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her son Gary (August 2022) as well as her parents James Gordon Aglor and Kathleen Aglor, her brother Gord Aglor and his wife Doreen. Survived by her son Brent and his wife Janet, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with her nephews and their spouses as well as the children of the Aglor family. She will be greatly missed by the many friends she made over the years and especially those from West Highland Baptist Church in Hamilton.

On December 13, 2023 we bid farewell to Alex in his 87th year. He died at home as was his wish. Son of the late Andrew and Anna, brother to the late George and Ann, beloved husband to the late Irene and father to Arlene, Donna and Daryl.
He grew up in Hamilton and moved to Binbrook with Irene to raise his family. He operated a small hobby farm with chickens, cows and a pony. Alex worked as a car mechanic at Hamilton Motor Products before becoming a welding and technical teacher at Orchard Park Secondary school. He had a calm and laid back approach to everything in life. Anyone who met him enjoyed his witty remarks and humor.
He loved warm climates and sunshine, especially in Costa Rica where he would enjoy walking the beach and stopping at a beach bar for a cerveza or rum and pepsi.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place in the spring at the Dundas Air Force club. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Hamilton food share
May 6 1947- December 23 2023 Surrounded by her family, Pam passed peacefully. Pam was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was a proud Maritimer. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Battersby, proud mother to Andrea (Geoff), Sean (Janine) and Drew (Jill). Loving Nany to Madeline, Rosslyn and Emma. Pam will be missed by her brothers Darrell (Sharon) , Ian (Barb), nephews, nieces, and friends Susan, and Patti. Pam had a lifelong passion for the care of others, especially children. She trained as a nurse at the Halifax Children’s Hospital and worked in pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. Pam found her true calling as an educational assistant at Glenwood Special Day School, retiring after 27 years of service. Pam was a devout member of the Anglican church, a long time parishioner of St. John’s (the Rock) on Locke Street. She freely shared her wisdom, love and devotion with her community, mentoring the youth group for many years. We would like to thank all the staff at St Joseph’s Villa. We would like to extend a special thanks to Diane, Devy and all the staff in Birch Trail for their incredible care of Mum over the last 18 months. In keeping with her wishes a celebration of life will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Villa, St. Matthews House or The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Eleanor Westoby (nee Howard) announces her passing on Wednesday, December 20th 2023, at the age of 72. Mom to Kevin (Caroline) and Jenny (Dave) and a proud Grandma to Brayden, Aaron, Zachary and Anna. Predeceased by her husband Gord, her parents Norm and Joan Howard, and her in-laws Frank and Laureane Westoby. Sister of Craig Howard (Joanne), Beth Genovese (John), and Barb Warner (Dean). Sister-in-law to Pat Raynsford (Bob) and Bonnie Barrett-Hamilton (John). Carolyn will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was born and raised in Dundas. She began her career as a nurse at Chedoke Hospital, later working in the United Church at Marshall Memorial in Ancaster and St. Andrew’s in Hamilton. Most recently she was the curator of the Dundas Museum.
Thank you to her neighbours for all their care and support over the years, and to the home care workers whose help allowed her to live at home until her final months.
Friends will be received by the family on Thursday January 4th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. in Dundas . A service in honour of Carolyn’s life will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home on Friday January 5th at 11 a.m, followed by a reception at the Dundas Legion, 280 King St West. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be greatly appreciated by the family.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda, after a courageous battle with cancer, on December 25. Linda is survived by her partner of 31 years, Terry Zuliniak. Daughter to Bill English, sisters Debbie (Paul Billings) and Carol Morrison. Step Mother to Bob Zuliniak (Denise) and Kelly Lukaszyk (Mario) Step Grandma to Caitlin (Mitch) and Kristen (Zach) Loving niece Michelle (Kyle), Sarah, Amanda (Vipln).Nephews Jeffrey (Manda) and Billy (Julia). Grand nephews Declan, Blake and Caleb. Nana to Emerson and great nana to Nolan. Pre deceased by her loving mother Ann. Linda was employed for many years as the chief bar steward at the Hamilton Air Force Association. She also gave countless hours of volunteer work there. In later years she was employed by Rona (Waterdown).She loved her work but had to take a leave of absence due to her declining health. We would like to extend an extreme thank you to the Juravinski Cancer Wing and Emmanuel House Hospice for their continued and professional care. Visitation Will take place at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas, on Sunday January 7th, 2 P.M. – 4 P.M. and 6 P.M. – 8 P.M.. A memorial service will be held at Turner Funeral Home on Monday January 8, 11 A.M..
In loving memory of our Mom and Gramma. Lois passed away peacefully on December 15th in her 80th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Hans. Loving and devoted mother to Laura (Gabby), Lisa (Martin), and Leigh (Natasha). Gramma will be greatly missed by Kaylee, David, Landon, Nevaeh, JJ and Ryder. Lois was a graduate of the 1966 Hamilton Civic Hospitals nursing program and worked as an RN, retiring from McMaster maternity ward. She enjoyed gardening and singing and was always willing to help answer any medical questions that family or friends asked, especially if it was about babies. Lois was an active member of DBC and enjoyed being the onsite nurse for their Vacation Bible School. Heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the hospice staff at Margaret’s Place. Donations in Lois’ memory can be made on her behalf to Margaret’s Place or the Hamilton SPCA. Cremation and private interment. A Celebration of Life is planned for February 2024. Our family is saddened to announce the passing, after a brief illness, of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She was a devoted mother to Michael (Cindy), Karen (Wendall), Leslie (Dave), Michelle (Steve), Tyrone (Jackie), Mark (Lisa) and David. Grandmother to fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She now joins her predeceased soulmate, Frank. She was born June 26, 1934, passing on December 14, 2023 in her 90th year. Affectionately known as Granny, she lived a very eventful life due to her large family. A no nonsense straight shooter, you definitely knew very quickly if you were in her good or bad books. She was a lover of all sports and an avid TV watcher; in her later years you were likely to find her guarding the living room couch. She was a resident of St. Joseph’s Villa for the past three years. Many thanks for the compassionate care of the St. Joseph’s ICU staff during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass for Helen will take place on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Just shy of his 94-year goal, Harry passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 7, 2023 in his 93rd year. He is predeceased by Joyce, his soulmate and wife of nearly seven decades, their four children and their spouses Paul, Dave (Phyllis), Scott (Nicki) and Joanne (Pete Kehoe), his grandchildren Graham (Paulina), Fraser (Rachael), Britney (Garrett), Emma (Tim), Trisha (Carlo), Nicole (Shane), Colin, Ben, Olivia, and Kellen, and ten great grandchildren. Harry was predeceased by his sisters Anne Thompson (Jack), and Doreen Falkiner (Ray). Special uncle, second dad and cherished friend to so many in the community.
Harry was an accomplished hockey player in his youth, winning the Intermediate A OMHA MVP award in 1951-52. He left his NHL dreams behind to obtain his Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship with John Bertram & Sons in Dundas. He then took over his father’s business, Beverly Fuels, delivering furnace oil all hours of the day to rural Flamborough residents for over 60 years. Harry continued to contribute to hockey – starting the Rockton Real McCoys with his friend Archie McCoy in the 1970s, raising funds for the building of the Beverly Arena and coaching countless kids in the community.
His volunteer work extended to years of service as a member and President of the Rockton Lions Club, and as a lifelong Mason. He took to the links in the summer, being a decades-long member of the Flamborough Hills Golf Club. His talent as a hobbyist woodworker lives on with cherished pieces in many of his family’s homes.
His family would like to thank staff at The Meadows in Ancaster for taking such great care of “Handsome Harry.”
We will honour Harry’s life on Saturday, January 6th from 1-4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Lynden. This will be an opportunity to raise a glass, share memories and celebrate a life well-lived.

It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of our kind and caring Veronica Mary Coomber on December 11, 2023. Veronica joins her Mother, Constance Dowds, Father, James Dowds, Brother, Paddy Dowds, Niece, Katherine Rose Dowds, Mother in Law, Winifred Coomber, Father in Law, George Coomber, and sister-in-law, Barbara Dugard in heaven.
Veronica was born in Brighton, England on October 20, 1945. She was a talented hairdresser, starting her career at the age of 15. She met the love of her life, Brian Coomber at age 17, they married, then emigrated to Canada in 1967.
Veronica loved to dance and donned the title of the dancing queen, she loved to fill every room she entered with light and energy. She was a kind, caring and wonderful person, who felt she needed to give everyone she saw a little wave. Veronica has fulfilled many roles as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, Grammy, godmother, sister-in-law, friend. She was a Christmas fanatic and loved to celebrate whenever she could. She was the most caring person and always thought about others’ happiness and would do whatever she could to make a difference in someone’s life.
Recently, Veronica and her husband Brian, have enjoyed an adventurous life, joining the snowbirds in Florida to avoid the notorious Canadian winter. It was here that Veronica was able to spread her love of life to many more new friends and acquaintances.
We welcome our close family and friends to join us in celebrating Veronica’s wonderful life on December 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Turner Family Funeral Home at 53 Main Street, Dundas, ON, L9H 2P7, We will also be hosting a virtual livestream of the service.

Peacefully on December 7, 2023, at the age of 82 years. Predeceased by her brothers Ted and John. She will be lovingly missed by her children, Timothy MacLean and Kimberly McGurrin (Timothy); granddaughter Locksley MacLean; sister-in law Helen Evans, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary was born in Stockton-on-Tees, completed her studies in nursing at Newcastle and midwifery at Oxford, and travelled the world with her young family as the bride of a Canadian army officer, before settling in Ontario. In Ontario, she first owned and later clerked in gift boutiques, remaining active and working into her 80’s. She was always busy with her family, church community, love of dogs, gardening and the horticultural society.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church in Dundas, Ontario at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 16, 2023, with reception to follow at the church.
