Forever 25, Forever in Our Hearts

Some people leave a mark on our hearts that time can never erase. Michaela Wachznuik was one of those people. At just 25 years old, her life ended far too soon, leaving behind a sadness that words can never fully express. But alongside that sadness are the memories of a young woman who was deeply loved, who had a wonderful sense of humour, and whose presence meant so much to the people fortunate enough to be part of her life.

Michaela was the beloved daughter of Paige and Robert Sutherland, who lovingly raised her from childhood and shared in the many moments that shaped her life. She was also the biological daughter of Arnold Anderson Jr. and Deanna Wachznuik, who remain part of her family story.

Michaela could be quiet at times, but those who knew her well also knew her wonderful sense of humour. She had a way of bringing laughter into moments when it was least expected, and those who shared in her jokes and laughter will always treasure those memories. There was so much more to Michaela than words could ever capture, and the people closest to her knew the special person she was.

One of Michaela’s greatest passions was horses. She was an incredibly talented competitive equestrian rider who won numerous competitions through her dedication and ability. Horses were a huge part of her life and one of her greatest loves. The time she spent with them brought her happiness, purpose, and countless memories that will always be cherished.

Her love extended just as deeply to her beloved French bulldogs, Thelma and Louise. They were not simply pets to Michaela; they were her babies, whom she adored and cared for like her own children. They were part of her family and her everyday world, and the love she had for them was unmistakable.

Michaela also loved travelling and treasured the time she spent visiting family in Scotland and Florida. She enjoyed road trips, exploring new places, and making memories along the way. At home, she loved walking the trails near her house, finding enjoyment in the outdoors and the familiar places that brought her peace. She was artistic in many ways, with a creative side that was uniquely her own.

One of the most beautiful bonds in Michaela’s life was the connection she shared with her brother Arnie. They were like kindred spirits, almost like twins, with a connection that words could never fully explain. They often seemed to know what the other was thinking without having to say a single word. Their bond was rare, deep, and special, and the love they shared will remain a part of Arnie forever. Some connections go beyond words, and theirs was one of them.

Equally special in Michaela’s life was her best friend, Hailey. Their friendship was a precious part of Michaela’s world, built on the kind of closeness and shared memories that make a person feel truly understood. Hailey was more than just a friend; she was someone who held a special place in Michaela’s heart and was part of her life in a way that can never be replaced. The moments they shared, the laughter, the conversations, and the memories they created together will always be treasured. A friendship like theirs does not end with goodbye; it lives on in the memories, the stories, and the love that remains. Hailey will forever carry a piece of Michaela with her.

Michaela will be deeply missed by her parents, Paige and Robert Sutherland; her biological parents, Arnold Anderson Jr. and Deanna Wachznuik; her brothers, Arnie (Kendra) and Billy (Alexis); her aunt Shyla Trudel (Nick); her uncle, Keith Anderson (Misty); her grandfather, Arnold Anderson Sr. (Poppa), and his wife, Alison (Bubba); her grandfather, Michael McKinnon; her great-aunt, Laura Wachznuik; her best friend, Hailey; and her extended family and many friends.

Michaela was predeceased by her uncle Daniel Anderson and her grandmothers, Teresa Wachznuik and Sylvia Anderson, who are remembered with love.

Twenty-five years is far too little time for a life with so much more left to experience. There should have been more horse competitions, more road trips, more visits with family, more walks along her favourite trails, more laughter with Hailey, more unspoken conversations with Arnie, and so many more days with Thelma and Louise by her side.

Although Michaela’s time here was far too short, the memories she leaves behind will live on in countless ways — in the places she loved, the animals she cherished, the laughter she shared, and the special connections she built with the people closest to her.

Michaela was loved more than words can say. Her absence will be felt deeply, her memory will be held close, and the love people have for her will never fade.

Forever 25. Forever loved. Forever our Michaela.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1st from 1pm-3pm at Turner Family Funeral Home (53 Main Street, Dundas).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA in Michaela’s memory would be greatly appreciated, in honour of the love she had for animals.
