Passed away peacefully at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on June 16, 2026, in her 98th year. Beloved spouse of the late John (1999). Loving mother to Jim. Predeceased by her son, Norman. Caring grandmother of Kelly and Kim, great-grandmother to Nova, Brandon and Jamie Lynn, great-great grandmother to Solstice. Will be sadly missed by Celia, her daughter-in-law, grandchildren Wendy and Lynda, several great grandchildren, and Lori Phillips, her cousin. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.
So sad to hear about Betty’s passing,when I first joined Westover Artist,she was so welcoming and helpful with her Artist tips.It wonderful that she will leave her paintings as a legacy to her fabulous talent.Fond memories Betty.

For many years, the Westover Artists at the Flamborough Seniors Centre had the pleasure to paint with Betty. Betty was welcoming and helpful to all the members.
She was a lovely, friendly lady and a fabulous watercolour painter. Every April she submitted her work to the DVSA auction. Betty lived a full life and inspired others.
My sincere condolences to her family.

A skilled gardener, the gardens at her home at the Centurion Apts in Dundas were a visual feast and the public spaces of the building’s interior were decorated beautifully with her art displays. She, along with Jim and Celia, made that wonderful apartment building into a home for many, many Dundas families. With its immaculate cleanliness and festive bbq’s and seasonal parties for all along with the tempting scents of her excellent baking and home cooking filling the air, Betty’s efforts, skills, and gifts helped create a wonderful place to live. She was a good friend to my mom, Marj Hannis who happily resided at The Centurion for many years. I am sorry to hear of Betty’s passing and thinking of her family at this time.

For over two decades Betty was a dedicated leader of the Holly Fayre at ours and hers beloved Church of the Ascension. Her talented and creative hands and mind never stopped. Her lifestyle was a passion of sharing and giving.

My grandmother,Bettie was one of the best people I’ve ever met. She was always there when we were younger ,when we live close. As we moved further across the country, when my parents were looking for their careers, she still was there, no matter how much a phone call cost at that time. We came and visited as much as we could. She came and visited as much as she could. In my later , I spent many a time talking on the phone and trying to travel to see Bettie as much as time and money permitted
She got me through the toughest time and she was there in heart for the best of time.
Her life wasn’t easy, but she always acted like it was
I was so blessed that she had some amazing people to be with her in her last weeks. So happy that we were able to see her shortly before she passed.
That memory of my sister, Kim, and my two children Braden and Jamie visiting her and getting to know my cousin Lori and meeting her two loving girls. I actually think that Bettie had that in the back of her mind during all of this.
The kindest of woman, she worried too much about everybody else then on herself. Would give you her last 10 bucks, the sweater off for back and definitely would have a meal ready when you arrive whether you were hungry or not. I’ve been trying not to grieve because I know she is where she wants to be, tat last next to her Husband John and worrying about her son who already passed. When she is looking down on the ones that are still here she has no worries just guidance from above. My hopes she can just soar like an eagle, sing like a bird, smell the flowers like a bee, paint like no one was watching, and look down at all of us left behind and just smile.

Betty has always been a shining light in our family, an endless source of love, grace, and a sharp sense of humour. While she may no longer be with us in our day to day, there is no doubt her profound impact on us will remain tangible for the rest of our own lives. Love you grandma, get some rest.
Betty was truly a wonderful, creative lady. Her many talents included organizing many craft items for our Holly Fayre at the church of the Ascension. Betty had another special talent for welcoming others into her home and offering many delicious foods for us to enjoy. Her talents and hospitality certainly meant a lot to me and to many others. Her life on earth has ended but her memory will continue for many of us who loved her.
Betty was indeed a wonderful soul who painted wonderful works of art. I think of her each time I look at her original watercolour picture, the one with the east coast vibe, with boat and lupins, lots of lupins. And having just visited the east coast, the lupins were out and I was thinking of her again. May she rest in peace and maybe in a meadow of heavenly flowers.
