It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Donna on Friday, June 12, 2015 in her 76th year. She died at the Juravinski Hospital after a difficult illness borne with grace and courage. Donna was born in Hamilton, the adored only child of Frank and Helen Williams (Mitton). Married for 34 years, predeceased by her soulmate, Mervyn Sergeant (1995). She was a tender and devoted mother to Stephen (d 1962), Laura, Myles (Sonia Anand) and Matthew. Loving and proud grandmother of Anjali, Anand and Sachin. Much loved by her adopted grandchildren Elaheh and Shahab Mirzad, her sisters [in law] Ruth Hess and Gwen O’Neill and many friends. Donna was guided by her Christian faith and lived in the Light and lived Love. Passionate in her calling as a nurse and professor, she provided exemplary care to patients and creative mentorship to students both in Canada and overseas. She loved life and took great joy in entertaining, reading, gardening, travel, hiking, photography and writing poetry. Deep appreciation for the exceptional care provided by every member of her outpatient and C3 Juravinski teams. Friends will be received by the family on Monday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Donna’s Service will be held at ST. PAUL’S UNITED CHURCH, 29 Park Street West, Dundas on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to McMaster University (School of Nursing), St. Paul’s United Church or Trees for Hamilton.

Passed away suddenly in Dundas, Ontario on May 30th 2015. Predeceased by her father James Murray Short, mother Isabel Pauline Creagh, and brother David James Short. Mother of Randall Cunningham and grandmother of Grace Evelyn Cunningham. Lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law Rhianna Cunningham, her sister Debbie Gillies and brother Robert Short, Tatamagouche Nova Scotia. Private cremation has taken place.

Conway, William George – June 4, 1938 – June 5, 2015. After a long and hard fought battle, Bill peacefully passed away at the Juravinski Hospital. Bill moved to Hamilton in 1955 from his hometown of Picton, ON. Bill will be dearly missed by his family. Wife, Nancy Belle, children, Randy (Helen), Dean, Shelley and his grandchildren Marty, James, Matthew and Hillary. Bill was passionate about sports, in particular golf, he would like nothing more than to spend a morning or afternoon golfing and he did that every opportunity he had. Bill also played snooker in the City Mens League for the W.O.S.M. Star for years. Bill was employed by the Canadian Steamship Lines, International Longshoreman’s Association, The Hamilton Harbour Commission and the Hamilton Port Authority from 1955 to retirement in 2003 at the age of 65. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at the Hamilton Airforce Association, King Street East in Dundas on the 17th of June 2015 from 2-4 p.m. Donations to the SPCA or the Juravinski Cancer Centre in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by the family.

Jones, Margaret “Pearl” (nee Reilly) – It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret (Pearl) Jones announce her passing at Hamilton General Hospital on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 78. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Frank. Loving mother of Frank, Jr. (Kathy), Carol-Ann (Gary), and David (Shannon). Daughter of the late Alec and Winifred Reilly and dear sister of Winifred Kelly and the late Alec Reilly Jr. Devoted grandmother of Ashley (Trevor), Natasha, Grace, Halle and Liam and great-grandmother of Mason. Friends will be received by the family on Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral Mass to be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Saturday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Shannon, Audrey Cassie (U.E.L) – At her home on Sunday, May 31, 2015, in her 87th year. Predeceased by her husband Jim (1992), she is survived by her brother John Macintyre (late Lorna), nephews John (Karen), Ken (Cyndi), 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews. Predeceased by her brother Dave. Audrey was retired as Savings Manager with the Royal Bank, and was a lifelong member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday evening from 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. The Service for Audrey will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 23, Melville Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. Donations to Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.

Devoted mother of Christine (Darrell), Katherine (Mike), Ian (Pauline) and Vanessa (Ted). Liz is also survived by her brother David (Linda). Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Cole, Blake, Seth, Rowan, Hannah and Aowyn. Special thank you to the Juravinski Cancer Centre and the staff of Emmanuel House for their care and compassion towards Liz. CALCAGNO, Francesco “Frank” – Passed away on May 25, 2015 at the age of 86 leaving behind his beloved wife Jean (née West) of 60 years, his three sons Rio (Yureymis), Vittorio (Missy) & Lorenzo (Meg), his five grandchildren Tara (Kevin), Christopher (Shannon), Melissa (Dustin), and Matthew (Felicia), & Justine, and two great grandchildren Dustin and Ayden. Frank retired after proudly co owning and operating the Country Willow Restaurant with his wife in the village of West Flamborough until the year 1995. There will be a visitation at Cattel, Eaton, & Chambers Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27th at 2-4pm and 7-9pm where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 28th at 1pm. A ceremony will be held graveside at Mount Zion Cemetery followed by a reception at the former Country Willow Restaurant at 234 Hwy. 8 in West Flamborough. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Unexpectedly, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Cherished son of Lanny and Diane Hiscock of Ancaster. Dearly loved brother of Keith Hiscock of Hamilton and sister Janice (Vikki) Hiscock of St. Catharines. David was predeceased by his brother Wray Hiscock. Sadly missed by Aunt Donna and Uncle Jimmy. David will also be sadly missed by many family and friends. A graveside service for David will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Jerseyville Cemetery. On May 15, 2015, with sadness, we announce the passing of a wonderful strong woman. A retired school teacher, sister, aunt, great aunt, adopted grandmother and friend to many, she loved to meet people and talked with passion about her life of travel and all the students she taught over the years. Of all her groups, organizations and committees, it was The Broccoli Club that made her smile. Survived by sisters, Sheila Huxley and Barbara Ford, predeceased by brother Robert Vail and parents Allan Douglas (Bill) Vail and Beatrice (Nellie) Vail. She was loved and so proud of her caring family who will miss her always. A special thank you to St. Joseph’s Villa, Maple Grove nursing and support staff for the patience, kindness and support shown to Dawn throughout her years there. Family will gather for a private remembrance and celebration of her life. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, Dawn would have been pleased to have donations be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association and appreciated by the family.
