June 19th, 1934 – April 1st, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosemarie Amann on April 1st, 2026, in her 92nd year. Known affectionately by most as “Oma,” she had a magical ability to light up any room by radiating warmth and joy. Her caring nature and infectious laugh made everyone she met feel like family. Rosemarie’s unwavering resilience and courage in the face of life’s challenges made her the strongest woman we will ever know.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Rosemarie grew up during the tumultuous times of World War II. At 18, she embarked on a new journey, determined to carve out a life for herself all on her own in her new home, Canada. There, she met her partner for life, Bertram, and together they built a large and close-knit family of which she was the true matriarch.
Rosemarie spent her early adult years living in New Brunswick, Montreal and Toronto, before settling in Dundas with Bertram, where she has proudly lived for the past 61 years. In her cherished home you could always find Rosemarie tending to her beautiful garden or preparing the most delicious meals served at her corner bench table where everyone was welcome.
Bertram and Rosemarie were also the owners of Amann Appliance Service and Parts in Hamilton, which opened in 1970. Serving the community until 2023, Rosemarie worked at “the shop” every day with her family and valued employees until its closing.
Rosemarie was deeply loved. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Rosemarie is predeceased by her husband Bertram and grandson Matthew.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her family; Children, Christine (Harold), Bert Jr., Ray (Bonny), Angela (Dean). Grandchildren, Jeff (Nicole), Richard (Lisa), Nicole (Glenn), Julia, Derek and Justin and was the very proud great-Oma to seven wonderful great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life in Rosemarie’s honour in the upcoming summer months in her beloved garden. More details will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Royal Botanical Gardens, please find their donation page here: Donate – Royal Botanical Gardens
