Peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, October 16th, Lynda Dean (nee McKee) passed away at the age of 75. Loving wife to Gordon for 56 years, loving mother of Rod (Kathi), grandmother to Sam and Dan. Dear sister to Sherry O’Keefe and Sandra Smith (Doug), sister-in-law Peg Ferguson (Paul), brother-in-law Jim Dean (Andrea), and numerous nephews and nieces. We would like to thank the ICU unit at the General Hospital for a tremendous job. A Celebration of Lynda’s Life will take place at the Airforce Club (Dundas), on Saturday, Nov 5th from 2-5pm. Skubisz, Richard Ernest – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Skubisz, who passed away peacefully on October 13th, 2022 at Welland Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved son to parents Catharina and Stanislaw Skubisz, Richard spent his childhood in Hamilton before moving to the Niagara Region at 16. Richard spent the last 43 years living in Port Colborne, leaving behind a large group of friends, family, and devoted support staff through Community Living. Richard will always be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest, who was well-cultured and enjoyed the finer things in life. He never missed an opportunity to have fun, or show affection to the people in his life. He will be deeply missed. Arrangements have been made with Turner Family Funeral Home in Dundas for October 25th, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1pm, followed by funeral service at 2pm and burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at 3pm
Peacefully with family at his side at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on October 11, 2022. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Kate (’99) and his parents Bill (’87) and Sheila (’06). Jim will be deeply missed by his sons William and David to whom he was a loving and devoted father. Lovingly remembered by his brothers David Royce (Laurie) of Kamloops, BC and Alan Royce (Charlene) of London, ON as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members and friends. Jim was a graduate of McMaster University in chemistry and went on to obtain his teaching certificate. He briefly taught high school science/chemistry before embarking on a 30+ year career with PPG in their automotive coatings division. When the PPG plant closed in 2009 Jim returned to teaching high school chemistry for several years before retiring. In his retirement Jim spent several years playing in the Ancaster Vets Slow Pitch Baseball League. In 2020 Jim and the boys moved from their Ancaster home to Kamloops to be close to Dave and his family before returning this past July to a lakefront condo in Burlington. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday October 20th from 7-9 PM at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A service for Jim will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Lowville United Church, 5800 Guelph Line, Burlington. Interment will be in the Lowville United Cemetery. Frank Bruce – Suddenly at home on October 16, 2022 at the age of 70. Predeceased by his wife Eleanor, his father George, his mother Hilma, and his in-laws Ruth and Doug Guild. He will be greatly missed by his children Paul Frank (Cheryl) and Catherine Walker (Mike), his siblings Peter Frank (Jadzia) and Cindy Caldwell (Paul), as well as Paul Guild (Inta) and Nancy Bendall (Ian) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce had a long career as University Secretariat at McMaster University prior to his retirement in 2012. Born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Bruce came to Hamilton in the early 1970s to pursue his PhD in history at McMaster. He met Eleanor and they raised their family in Dundas, always sure to return to Wolfville every year to spend 2 weeks at the beach. Friends will be received by the family on Friday evening from 7-9 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Funeral Service will be held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Leonard Dryden in his 91st year. Beloved husband to Gayle Sharon Dryden for over 63 years. Father to John M. Dryden (Christine) and predeceased by daughter Adrienne and son Brent. Although he will be greatly missed, we will cherish our many memories of him. We take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace in heaven with those who have gone before him. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Friday, October 21st from 10:00 a.m. until the time of John’s Service at 11:00 a.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. It saddens us greatly to report the death of Marion on Wednesday, August 17; her passing was as she had lived, courageous, gentle and quiet. She was born and raised in Galt and just last week said, “I started working at the knitting mill as soon as I graduated school – we all wanted to do our part for the War Effort.” She moved to Hamilton in the early 1950’s and after raising her family, returned to the work force, eventually becoming the head buyer for the Duthler’s Textiles fabric chain. It was at Duthler’s that she met and eventually married Mr. Don Paris (deceased).
They spent winters in Florida and eventually moved in to a private apartment area in the home of her daughter (Diane) and son-in-law (Ken). She loved waking up in the morning to the rural view, and to watching Diane tend to the: chickens, donkeys, goats, llamas and alpacas. Marion was extremely skilled with her hands; she stayed true to her roots by sewing, crocheting, knitting which were just some of her talents. She stayed independent almost to the end and was creative in solving her own problems – not wanting to “bother” anyone. Over the years our friends became her friends as they encountered her sweet, giving nature. With her passing we all realize that we are a little bit better for having known her. We are all grieving, but birds sing after a storm and eventually we shall too. Marion was the oldest daughter to Thomas and Alice Woods, sister to Ethel (predeceased) and Coleen. She leaves behind her: daughter Diane, and son-in-law Ken (Griffin), sister Colleen (Riddell), and nieces Lisa Cox and Lorilee Riddell-Carpenter.
Special thank you to staff of the 7th floor Stroke Recovery Unit of the Hamilton General Hospital; the care and compassion shown Marion and the family could not have been better.

After a brave battle with cancer, Yolanda passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital on September 28, 2022 in her 61st year. On behalf of the family we would like to thank her whole team at the Juravinski for the care of our mother and sister. Loving mother to Stephanie (Andrew). Caring sister to Remy (Ann) and Errol (Terri). Predeceased by her parents Jaap “Jack” and Jantina Knol and dear friend to Dave. Yolanda enjoyed spending her free time with her Dundas Tim Hortons Crew and the loving company of her cat Rue. She loved the sunshine and fresh air of the outdoors. She will be missed by many but not soon forgotten. “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always. As long as I’m living, my mommy you’ll be”. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 2-4 p.m at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. On Wednesday, September 21, 2022 ‘Our Queen’, Lilian Mary Searby (nee Ross) beloved wife of 60 years to the late Dennis (2007), Mother, Grandma and GG commended her spirit to our Blessed Lord. Having attained the milestone of 100 years on September 8th, she was most grateful to have received a Papal Blessing from the Holy Father, Pope Francis. Mum was the matriarch and strong role model to our large and loving family after striving to fashion her life after Mary, the Blessed Virgin to whom she was a dedicated servant. She was a mother to Christine (David), Elaine (Ron), Marie (Sam), Michael (Lynn), Paul (Nida) and Denise. Loving Grandma to Mark (Tanya), Tracey, Sandra (Kevin), the late Paul (Jenn), Jeffrey (Heather), Andrew (Julie), the late Michael, Leanne (Kevin), Ian, Gregory (Ruth), Marisa (Pat), Megan and Thomas (Kira). She will also be sadly missed by her 24 great grandchildren from whom she derived great pleasure. Mum still maintained a close relationship with her many nieces and nephews in England, her birthplace. She was a Canadian ‘auntie’ to Kevin and his family, Brian and Mary Jo. Our family will be forever grateful for the loving and compassionate care that she received at Westmount Terrace under the guidance of nurse Carrie and her staff. God was shining brightly upon us when He placed Mum in the kind and caring hands of the dedicated medical staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in particular Dr. Neary, Dr. Macki, nurses Jean and Akweley and all of the wonderful 7th floor staff who ensured that she was comfortable and in the presence of her loving family. St. Joseph played a very strong role in Mum’s prayer life so it is fitting that she passed away peacefully in the hospital of his namesake. All who knew our wonderful mother are aware of her faithful dedication to Mary, the Blessed Mother and to her strong Catholic faith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for our dear mother on Friday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church, 58 Sydenham St., in Dundas. A luncheon will follow at The Venetian Club, 269 John St. N., Hamilton. Mum felt truly blessed to have been the beneficiary of much of God’s beauty in her lifetime. It was her wish to offer the visually impaired the opportunity to more fully experience life with the aid of a trained guide dog. To that end, we ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the CNIB or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully accepted. Mum loved a ‘splash’ of color. Please feel free to wear something colorful if you so choose. Good night and God bless you, Mum. We love you and acknowledge that you have been and always will be our inspiration.
Died at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, Ontario on Saturday, September 17, 2022 in her 96th year. Daughter of the late Dr. Daniel and Reba (nee Campbell) Kappele. Sister of the late Peter Kappele and his late wife Wendy of Pender Island, BC; Aunt of Danielle of Toronto and predeceased by nephew David in 2005; survived by many cousins. Many thanks to the medical professionals for keeping her afloat; to the staff and friends at Bertram Place, to the nurses and PSWs at St. Joseph’s Villa, and to Susan Bowman and Aileen Csermak for their tremendous support. Jane enjoyed travelling after retiring as a school Principal. Cremation has taken place. There will be an outdoor Memorial Service/Celebration of Life at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27th at the Dundas Museum. And a private interment at Grove Cemetery. If wished, remembrances to Doctors Without Borders,Sleeping Children Around the World or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Ivan passed away peacefully, with his wife and daughters at his side, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Lydia (nee Infanti) for 62 years. Loving father to Sandy (Mike) Powell, Lisa Zecchini and Paula (James) Mitton. Son of the late Olinto and Gemma (Lenarduzzi). Brother to Derino (predeceased) (Adelina), Sergio (predeceased) (Louise), Mario (Maxine) and Elio (Mirella). Brother-in-law to Pia (Spero-predeceased) Tisiot, Josephine (Jim) Kielty and Renato (Nancy) Infanti. Missed by many relatives here, in Italy and in Argentina. The family would like to thank Dr. LeeAnn Coren for her excellent care and compassion. Ivan was a well-respected custom home builder for many years in the Ancaster and Dundas area. His great joys included spending time with family and friends, watching Udinese soccer games and the Hamilton Tiger Cats, travelling, swimming and going for hikes and bike rides at the Dundas Conservation Area. He was a lifelong member of the Venetian Club and the Famee Furlane Club where he enjoyed playing cards and bocce and attending dinner dances. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, on Wednesday, September 21 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Dundas.
