MacMillan, Ethel Jean (nee Towers) – Passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in her 78th year at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Beloved mother of Rick (Cindy) MacMillan and Kim (Lee) Brown and the late Terri MacMillan. Cherished grandmother to Sydney Brown, Jacob MacMillan, Spencer MacMillan, Mitchell Brown, and Terra MacMillan. Oda, Sumio Charles “Chuck”

November 24, 1925 – April 14, 2018

ODA, Sumio, Charles “Chuck” passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 14, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Centre in Hamilton, at the age of 92. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Lily. He will be dearly missed by his children, Jeannine (Den), Warren (Deb) and Kelvin; his grandchildren, Kyle (Joelle), JJ (Robbie), Amy, Alaina (Bruce), Alex (Jessica), Garrett and Carlye (Ian); and his great-grandchildren, Oliver, Yuriko, Eleanor and Charlie. Uncle Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Eternal thanks are extended to the staff of Bertram Retirement Home for their tremendous care and support, and to the staff of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Centre for their truly empathetic and dedicated service.  Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Chuck’s Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Dundas Youth Chaplaincy (Routes Youth Centre),10 Market Street South, Dundas, L9H 5G4, by contacting the Centre at 905-929-0572 or at info@routesyouthcentre.ca, would be greatly appreciated.

Nugent, Jessie “May” (nee Whyte)

May 20, 1934 – April 8, 2018

Nugent, Jessie May (nee Whyte) – Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Sunday, April 8, 2018.  Predeceased by her husband Dick (1985). She will be dearly loved and missed by her brother David Whyte, step-sons Gary (Pat) and Neil (Josie), step-daughter Dianne Whitelaw, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews Matthew (Krista), Adam (Andrea), Mark and niece Laura, and special person in her life Sandi (Ernie Devine).  Predeceased by her parents William and Beatrice and brother Bill.  May was active with the Ancaster Lions Club and CNIB, a long time member at St. Mark’s United Church and was a teacher with the Hamilton Public School system working with the blind.  Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where May’s Service will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:30.  Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens.  If you so wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Hapke, Emma (nee Blümke)

Emma passed away peacefully at Queens Gardens on April 6th with family at her side.

Loving wife of Eduard (predeceased).  Also predeceased by her sister Wanda, and brother Ewald.

She will be dearly missed by her sister Rosamunde and her children Irma (Stephen),  Gary (Sally), Monica (Robert), and Paul.

Emma was a kind and caring mother willing to help anyone in need. She loved her grandchildren Matthew (predeceased), Rachael, Lydia (Dan) , Erik (Jen), Krista (Mark), David (Heather), Evelyn (Mike), Julia (John), and Korrah and great grandchildren Summer ( Nicole,Renee) , Zoe, Emma, Ari, Noah, Jett, Kylie, Isabella, Theo, Brooke and Phoebe.

Emma was always kind, giving, sweet and loving. She loved to laugh, and made us laugh too. She always insured that anyone who visited her was well fed and made to feel at home.

She was humble and God-loving and she is now resting in peace with her Lord.

While she will be missed she will live in our hearts and memories forever.

The family would like to thank the staff at Queens Garden for the wonderful care they provided and all who visited her.

Visitation will be on April  13th  at 10:00 am with the Service following at 11:00 am at the Turner Family Funeral Home located at 53 Main St Dundas, Ontario.

Interment at Grove Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Cattel Family Centre (next door to Funeral Home).   In lieu of flowers donations to St John’s Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated.

Daly, Mary Theresa (nee Pitt)

July 9, 1925 – April 3, 2018

DALY, Mary  (nee Pitt)  – Passed away peacefully in her 93rd year surrounded by her loving family at Wentworth Lodge, Dundas, ON on April 3, 2018.  Predeceased by husband Edward (2010), sisters Audrey, Edna, Florence, and Beatrice.  Mom will be sadly missed but always cherished by her four children:  Patricia (Don), Mike (Sharon), Lynda (Barry),and Tim (Shonna); 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  Mom is also survived by brothers George (Audrey), John (Paulette), sister Joan and sister-in-law Geraldine Mosakoski; as well as several nieces and nephews.   Mom was an avid golfer and particularly thrilled that her favourite pro golfer Rory McIlroy won a recent championship. We want to thank all the staff in Oaklane at Wentworth Lodge for their wonderful care of Mom and our family during this time.  Words can never express the comfort their care and kindness gave us.   In lieu of flowers, a donation to Mission Services or Wentworth Lodge would be appreciated. Rienties, Janna (nee Van Dyk)

February 7, 1929 – March 30, 2018

Rienties, Janna – After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, Janna Rienties peacefully passed away on Friday, March 30th 2018 at the age of 89. She will be dearly missed by her caring husband of 56 years John (Jo) Rienties, her 4 sons; Ron, Bernie (Donna), David (Sherry) & Joe (Cheryl), her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Janna immigrated to Canada from Holland, and worked as a nurse at the Sanatorium Hospital on the Hamilton Mountain. She will be remembered for her love of knitting, her special way with animals & her silly faces. Special thanks to all the staff & volunteers at St. Josephs Villa; especially to the Lilac staff for their care and attention. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Friday April 6th from 5 – 6:30 p.m. with a short service at 6:30 p.m.. Allan, Wayne Stuart

Allan, Wayne Stuart.  Died quietly at Emmanuel House, Hamilton on March 28 2018, from pancreatic cancer.   Beloved husband and companion of Sheila Russell, who was with him at the end.  Dear stepfather of Geoffrey Walton and stepfather-in law of Treasa Levasseur, who supported him lovingly throughout his illness.  Predeceased by parents Aldon and Carol Allan, by dear sister Judy and brother-in-law Brian, by brother–in-law Nigel Russell, and nephew Garrett Russell.   Sadly missed by brother and sister–in-law Pat and Doug McDonell, Alan, Jackie and Thomas McDonell, and Linda and Gareth Clemo, as well as  sister-in-law Lesley Russell and brother–in-law Eugene Ladniak,  niece Kate Lambacher (Chris), nephew Chris Ladniak (Tara) and much-loved children Amara and Ben Lambacher and Connor, Avery and Jacob Ladniak, as well as nephew Duncan Russell, and dear godsons Eamon and Hugh Kelly.

Born in Brantford on October 9, 1941, Wayne studied philosophy at Western and McMaster Universities, then taught literature at Mohawk College for over 25 years, a job he loved.  At the same time, he pursued his love of art with studies in sculpture, printmaking, collage and other media at Mohawk College, McMaster University, Dundas Valley School of Art, and elsewhere.  He had many exhibitions of his work in the Hamilton area and was a member of the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas.  His life was informed by every kind of human expression: visual art, literature, music, film, and dance.

Wayne was active in the life of St. James Anglican Church, Dundas, loved to assist with the Taizé prayer at St. Paul’s Westdale and served as an assessor at  ACPO conferences.  He was a deeply spiritual man, attending many courses, retreats and workshops on meditation, psychology, spiritual life and the arts.  People were drawn to him for his wit, generosity, and thoughtfulness, and he loved his many friends.

Sheila is grateful for the kindness and support of family, friends and neighbours during Wayne’s illness.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Juravinski Surgical Oncology Department, Bertram Place, the Palliative Care Team, and Emmanuel House.

A visitation will be held at St. James Anglican Church on Wednesday April 4 from 1-2 pm before a funeral service at 2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. James Anglican Church or Good Shepherd Ministries.

Lamont, Florence Margaret (nee Haw)

May 13, 1923 – March 23, 2018

Lamont, Margaret – in her 95th year, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home at Amica in Dundas, Ontario with her devoted husband Vincent of 72 years by her side. She is survived by daughters Lynn (Bob), Jan (Gary) and sons Robert (Jane) and Jamie (Lynn).  “Grammie” was a proud and loving grandmother to Tim, Johanna, Julie, Jennifer, Tracy (predeceased), Adam, Adrian, Paul, Rachel and Steph.  She was also “GG Ma” to 13 great-grandchildren and predeceased by great-grandson Cameron. Margaret was an artist and enjoyed a lifetime of family fun, playing the piano, bridge, working with her favorite charities, and her creative art.  Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, March 29th from 1:00 until the time of Margaret’s Celebration of Life at 2:00 at AMICA AT DUNDAS, 50 Hatt Street, Dundas. Gourlay, Elaine Elizabeth

November 5, 1932 – March 19, 2018

Gourlay, Elaine Elizabeth (nee Hope) – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elaine, on Monday, March 19, 2018 in her 85th year.  Loving wife to Charles Gourlay for over 50 years (predeceased), amazing mother to Ian (Laura) and Jane Perry (Dave), devoted grandmother to Colton, Blake, Leon, Jess, Alexis, William and Ashley.  Elaine’s greatest love was always her family, she adored all of us and us her.  Throughout her life she traveled the world.  She was a daycare teacher for over 30 years, touching and changing the life of everyone she met.  Mom was so intelligent, so beautiful, so kind, this world was truly a better place with her in it.  Fashion was one of her favourite things and to her family she will always be remembered fondly as our fashionista.  A private celebration of Elaine’s life will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society, would be appreciated by the family.
