In his 30th year, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday (funday) August 3rd, 2014 surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Shawna Chambers (nee) VanderHarst.  Parents Edward & Marlene Chambers, siblings Krista & Curtis Ashley, Mark Chambers Parents in law Jim & Diana VanderHarst siblings Jelle & Renee, Jason & Amanda, Jeff & Ally VanderHarst, nephews Will Ashley, Jimmy VanderHarst niece’s Grace (C.C) Ashley & Leona (no no) VanderHarst.  Predeceased by Don & Susie Chambers and Art & Mary Edworthy. Greg was a brave, strong young man who’s warm infectious smile will be missed by everyone that knew him. A celebration of Greg’s extraordinary life will be held at Rockton Fair Grounds Friday, August 8th, 2014 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Juravinski Cancer Centre, Princess Margaret Hospital or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Skirrow, Keith – May 16, 1934 – July 29, 2014.  Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa at the age of 80.  Beloved husband of Donna for 49 years.  Loving father of Steven (Wendy) and Sandra (Jeff McLean).  Proud grandfather of
Joshua, Joel, Bethany, Hannah, Ciara and Kevin.  Brother of Joyce Douglas and Earl Skirrow.  Predeceased by sisters Helen and Thelma.  Special thanks to St. Joseph’s Villa for their care and support.  Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Keith’s Service will be held at WEST HIGHLAND BAPTIST CHURCH, 1605 Garth Street, Hamilton on Friday at 11:00 a.m.  Interment at Culver-Collver Cemetery.  For those who wish, memorial donations made to St. Joseph’s Villa or West Highland Baptist Church would be appreciated.

Groen, Andy

May 7, 1930 – July 21, 2014

In his 85th year, at home on July 21, 2014. Husband of the late Irene Groen (2009), brother to Tom (Alice), Neil (Wilma), George (1987) (Betty) and Elizabeth (2011), (Anton) (2013).  Survived by children, John (Toby), Judy (Gerry), and Sue (Tom); grandchildren, Michael (Angela), Murray, Adam, Becky, Tyson, Melissa, Amy, and Brittney; great grandchildren Jonathan, Chloe, Carson, Bryson, and Emma. Also survived by two aunts Adriana Vanderschee and Jany  Groen, many nieces and nephews, plus many close relatives in the Netherlands.  An entrepreneur and farmer for most of his life, Andy was also a life member and past president of the Ancaster Agricultural Society.  He was a passionate believer in the importance of family and was instrumental in keeping relationships active with relatives and friends in Canada and the Netherlands.  In keeping with Andy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Many thanks to all the CCAC workers and the VON whose support allowed Andy to remain in his home for many years.  Also our thanks go to Dr. Gideon and Dr. Pickett, who made his last few years so much easier by making house calls.  Their compassion is greatly appreciated. Smokey died as he lived:  in charge.  He can now rest in comfort and in peace.

Paterson, Tom

Passed away peacefully in his 75th year after a long battle with cancer at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.  Predeceased by Tom and Edith Paterson.  Will be sadly missed by his wife Carol, Linda McVea (Joel), Lisa Andrews (Bob); grandchildren Josh, Bob, Braxton and Bronwyn along with his furry friends Henry and Dexter; brother John and family (Kincardine) and many neighbors, family and friends, especially Pat and Marilyn. Tom was a dedicated employee of the A&P for 44 years.  Friends will be received by the family on Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas whereTom’s Service will take place on Saturday, July 26th at 11a.m.  Cremation has taken place and an interment will follow at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Dundas Blues Junior Hockey Club or the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.

Brinkman, Frank

Passed away at home on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in his 84th year.  Frank was predeceased by his loving wife Jackie as well as his brothers and sisters.  Cherished and loved  father of Tania and Pieter.  Proud grandfather of Ryan, Graeme and Mackenzie.  Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53  Main Street, Dundas, where the Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11 a.m.  Cremation has taken place. Interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Assistance Program would be appreciated by the family.

Roos, Peter – Passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones.  Predeceased by his wife Edel (1995).  Peter will be loved and missed dearly by his companion of 14 years, Martina; his son Dominik (Jennifer) and daughter Michelle (Bryan Hall) and step-children Ronny, Nicole and Stephan; grandchildren Adel, Max and Lotta; sister Waltraud Menzel (predeceased Helmut).  In Peter’s younger years, he worked for the largest printing press in Germany where he was taught how to print books for school children.  When Peter came to Canada he bought what was to become a well known restuarant in Dundas, the Schwaben Inn.  He owned and operated this business for 34 years before retiring.  He enjoyed the many years of chatting and getting to know his patrons.  He happily spent his retirement chasing after his grandchildren.  A special thank you is extended to the doctors and nurses at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care.  Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.   Funeral Mass will take place at ST. Till, Asta (nee Senila) – Passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in her 92nd year. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Arnold, and her son Erik. She is survived by her son Roy and his wife Nicole and 5 grandchildren, Shawn (Leanne), Tammy (Scott), Alana, Natasha, and Mia; and 5 great-grandchildren Leia, Ethan, Matthew, Noah, and Connor. “Mummu” was loved by all and was known for her kind disposition, never complaining, and quietly accepting both the sorrows and beauty of life. She is well remembered for her always effervescent smile. Many thanks to the kind staff at Wentworth Lodge which was her home for the last 4 years. Aglor, Gordon Russell – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Russell Aglor at the age of 85.  Gord leaves behind his wife Doreen, his Sweetheart through 64 years of marriage.  He is survived by three cherished sons and their wives; Steve and Mary Jane, Doug and Cindy and Gord and Laurie.  A proud Grandfather to 7 grandchildren; Michelle (Henrik), Julie (Graeme), Mike (Tammi), Jeff (Jen), Tyler (Jenn), Kody (Cass) and Kyle and 6 great-grandchildren; Annika, Ben, Pierce, Chase and Paige.  Gord is survived by one sister Ruth Helm.  Many thanks to the employees of University Plaza in Dundas for their many acts of kindness to Gord.  Thank you to Dr. A. Kronenwald and the doctors and nurses at Juravinski Hospital for their excellent care.  Gord was the proud owner of Hemingway’s Grocery in West Hamilton for 44 years.  Cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow.  In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Armstrong, Helen Elizabeth

Armstrong, Helen Elizabeth – On Sunday, July 13th, in her 94th year, Helen passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.  She is reunited with the love of her life Louis, son Rodney (Doreen), grandson Kirk and great-granddaughter Sage Violet.  Loving mother to Nelson (Mary), Bill (Jean, predeceased), Keith (Lorraine), Heather (Bob), and Carol (Vince).  She will be forever missed by her 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.  Dear sister to Bud (Fritz) and Edith.  Family was Granny’s greatest treasure.  Her love for her family was matched only by her love and faithfulness to God.  Granny’s kindness, devotion and smile will be missed by all those who’s lives she touched, including all of her friends at Knox Presbyterian Church.  Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Helen’s Service will take place at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 23 Melville Street, Dundas, on Friday at 11:00 a.m.  Interment at Mt. Binkley, Samuel Patrick “Pat” – In the peace of his home, Pat passed away, Thursday, July 10, 2014.  Predeceased by his loving wife Jean (nee Morden).  He will be lovingly missed and thought of fondly by his son Paddy (Jacquie) and his daughter Sue (Dan Lawlor); his siblings Tom (Jane), Teresa, Susan, Charlie (Barb) and Mike (Marg); and is grandchildren Clayton and Emma.  Predeceased by his brother Norm and sisters Jean Morrison and Mary Grace. Pat was a life long farmer and truck driver, no stranger to the determination and hard work of the outdoors.  A special thank you is extended to Sam Meiler and his family and to Frances Kanmacher for their impromptu visits and daily newspapers just to keep an eye on Pat.  Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday afternoon and evening from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where Pat’s Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.  Interment at St. Augustine’s Cemetery.  If you so wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
