MacLEOD, James Alastaire Weaver, 79. It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to our husband, father, Papa and best friend Jim MacLeod. Jim passed away on February 23rd after a short hospital stay in his 80th year. Beloved husband to Carolyn MacLeod. Cherished father to Grant( Sandy) and the late Jennifer Merriam (Ron). Proud grandfather to Dana, Elijah, Maryn, Owen and Benjamin. Son of the late Thelma Weaver and Hamish MacLeod. Jim was predeceased by his little brother Douglas. Jim was born in Ottawa, Ontario on Sept 4th, 1939 and soon thereafter he moved to Weston, ON where he grew up. He was a proud “Aggie” graduating with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Guelph and later went on to specialise in Civil Engineering at U of T. Jim worked for various engineering firms, W.J Lehman, CC Parker, Peto-MacCallum before settling in at Mohawk College where he retired as Chairman of their technology programs. Jim loved all things to do with building and construction; designing and building two of his homes. If he wasn’t deep into a project he was likely planning the next one or helping his children, neighbours and friends with their projects. He loved skiing and was a member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club. He loved his golden retrievers and they were always at his side. Jim made you feel special: 5 minutes after you met him you felt you’d known him forever.
