With deep love and cherished memories, the family of Elsie Isabell Dearsley (née Smith) announces her passing on October 29, 2025 at St Joseph’s Villa at the age of 90, finally at rest after a long journey with Alzheimer’s.
Elsie and her beloved late husband, Bill, who was her partner in all things for 59 years, built a life filled with family, laughter, and love. Proud mother of Brenda (Keven), Gary, and Bill; loving grandmother “Grams” to Trevor (Karen), Matt (Sonja), Candace (Ryan), Scott (Melissa), and Karleigh; great-grandmother to Danielle, Jessica (Adriana), Ara, Samya, Mason, Maren, George, Easton, and Oliver; and great-great-grandmother to Alaina. She will also be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who held a special place in her heart.
Elsie was fiercely resourceful, endlessly creative, and never without a project on the go or a Post-It note list. She was known for her jerry-rigging skills, collection of pigs, love of baking, and hosting delicious family dinners. She volunteered for many years with the Ancaster Agricultural Society, and community church dinners, always giving her time generously with both passion and humour.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday November 16, 2025 at Ancaster Fairgrounds, Marritt Hall upstairs room AB from 1-3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society Foundation of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton.
Elsie will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever admired.
Elsie was a great gal, we always had a good time together lots of laughs, mostly as young girls.
Farewell Cousin
Elsie and Bill (along with the pig!) made our Parry Sound Thanksgivings special. One of many wonderful memories of a special cousin. My condolences to Brenda, Gary, Bill and families. Take care of each other.
