John Anthony Chitty M. Eng. – Passed away at the Juravinski Hospital on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Paddy (nee FitzSimon) for 51 years. He will also be missed by Michael (Laurie) FitzSimon, Sharon FitzSimon (Gerry Dion), nieces, and Miss Muggins. John, a retired Manager of Metallurgical and Repair Services at SIEMENS Westinghouse, loved nature, walks, reading, travelling, particularly to Ireland, music, chocolate, and red wine. He was very kind, fair, and brutally honest. John had a really quiet, sharp sense of humour. He was very well respected in both his personal life and his professional life. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, ON, on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for a Celebration of John’s Life. As per John’s wishes, please come casually dressed. In lieu of flowers, donations to Birds Canada at www.birdscanada.org/donate or the Royal Botanical Gardens at www.rbg.ca/donate would be greatly appreciated by the family.

I knew John in the 1960s when we were at University together, and we shared a student house in Sheffield England. I have very fond memories of him, and we had some great times together.

I’m deeply saddened by John’s passing. He was not only an exceptional manager at Siemens but also a remarkable person who touched the lives of many. His kindness, fairness, and strength will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. May he rest in peace.
John Chitty was our dear and treasured brother-in-law. We loved him for his decency, sincerity and his consistent honesty. He was quiet and self-possessed, but he could surprise you with his unsuspected charm and wit. John had a genuine love for good wine as well a deep interest in the vintage trains of Britain. As a young boy he was an avid train spotter. John will be lovingly remembered by our two daughters, as a charming uncle. We will remember John as a good friend, a kind and fair person, and we will miss him.
