It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Dennis Turkstra on October 30, 2021, after a brief battle with melanoma cancer. His earthly presence will be forever missed by his wife Jennifer Chitty, son Bryce, mother and father Elaine and Ron Turkstra, brothers Mark (Tanya) Turkstra, Andrew (Julie) Turkstra, Ian Turkstra, sister Marisa (Pat) Arnold, grandmother Lilian Searby, fathers-in-law David (Michelle) Chitty, Richard Gibson, sister-in-law Jessica (Johcey) Greene, brother-in-law Jared (Crystal) Chitty and his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his grandfathers Wilfred Turkstra, Dennis Searby and Lynn Taylor, grandmother Trudy Taylor, mother-in-law Sherry Gibson and Cousin Michael Bennardo.
Paul will be fondly remembered at Smith and Long as the dedicated Manager of National Accounts where he was always willing to share his knowledge. He was known as a great guy with a good sense of humour and a true friend. He loved coaching his son’s hockey team and was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was happy when golfing, fishing, travelling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He was a truly gentle and giving soul.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4th at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, from 2PM – 4PM and 6PM – 8PM. A funeral service will be held at St. Augustine’s Parish, 58 Sydenham St, Dundas, on Friday, November 5th at 10AM. Due to the current restrictions, seating is limited.
Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the ICU at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Richard Whitlock for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to the Melanoma Network of Canada or a charity of your choice.

Dear Elaine and Ron. There are truly no words to express to you our sadness of the loss of Paul. I can still remember moving to Dundas in 1983 and going to St. Augustine’s masses and seeing these four little gorgeous blonde boys! We got to know you and your family over the years especially St. Augustine school days! Our prayers go out to you and your families at such a terrible time! To Jennifer, Bryce and your whole family.
I’ve known Paul for only 5 years but he was like a colleague, a friend!
Talking with him every week, sometime at night or on week-ends, working “Hands in hands”.
This news is a shock to me, so I can’t imagine for you.
My wife Manon and I are offering you our deepest condolences!
I am so sorry to hear about the sudden passing of Paul. We worked together for many years and truly enjoyed his support and collaboration on many projects. My heart goes out to the family and everyone who has had the pleasure to work with Paul.
Paul was an absolute gem of a person- a kind father, a wonderful and generous friend, and most importantly a loving husband to my dear friend Jenn. My deepest condolences to Jenn, Bryce and the entire Chitty and Turkstra families. I have the fondest memories spending many a fun evening with Jenn and Paul in Ontario and Nova Scotia, celebrating our friendship, something I will cherish forever.
Paul was my nephew and my friend. It was truly an honour to be his Auntie. His gentleness and giving nature were only two of his wonderful qualities. Paul’s patience and constant willingness to help others was what made him special. The love he had for his family and friends will never be forgotten. His smile and sense of humour never failed to brighten my day. I will miss him for countless reasons, but the happy memories and the joy Paul brought to my life will remain in my heart forever.
Ron and Elaine … our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.

We are shocked and so saddened to hear the news of Paul’s passing. Paul and I met in university and were housemates in 4th year, which led to many fun times spent together.
In the years after university we attended many events together and were present at each others weddings. We remember Paul fondly as a great guy, always calm and level headed, with a great smile and laugh.
We send our thoughts and prayers to Jen, Bryce and the Turkstra family during this incredibly hard time. Know that Paul will always be watching over you as he did while he was among us.
With Love, Alex, Cheryl, Christian and Xavier.
