October 15, 1954 – October 17, 2015
On October 17, 2015, Ray Ofield, aged 61, peacefully passed away at Hamilton General Hospital surrounded by his family. Ray was predeceased by his parents Edward and Lila, and sister Kathy. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Denise, his sons Dave (Janeva) and Charlie, his grandson Cameron Ray and his brother Ken (Kim). Always the optimist; Ray was loved and respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved his family dearly and will always be remembered as a caring and loving father and grandfather. Ray grew up in Copetown and raised his family in Flamborough. He greatly enjoyed building the family’s cottage in Stoke’s Bay for which he personally cut and milled the wood with the help of his brother and father. He worked at Bell Canada in Hamilton for over 30 years and will also be remembered for his years of involvement with Beverly minor hockey in both the coaching and administration roles. Friends will be received by the family for a celebration of Ray’s life on Thursday October 22, 2015 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at the Copetown Community Centre, 1950 Governors Road, Dundas. There will be an open mic and the family would welcome hearing any anecdotes about Ray during the memorial.
Another example of the “good, die young”. It was our honour and privilege to be a part of Ray’s life. We extend our love to Denise and family, and pray that God wraps his arms around all of you, bringing comfort to you during this difficult time.
Rest in peace Ray, ox
Ray was my brother-in-law for 36 years. He will always be remembered by his contagious, wonderful laugh! He was supportive, funny, and a wonderful family man. I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of his family. We will miss you. Thinking of you, Denise, Charlie, Dave, Janeva and Cameron.
A man of few words- but always kind, peaceful, loving with an incurable urge to enjoy life, family and the great outdoors. Will be lovingly remembered for all the joy and laughter spent on the farm growing up with my brothers Steve, Doug , myself and our parents.
You are in our prayers and in good company.
Love you always
Denise and family my heart aches for you. There are no words to ease your pain. Ray was on wonderful man. He always had a wonderful smile. Love you Denise my Friend. I will be thinking about you and your family.
Dorothy, Ugo and family
Denise and family, we really want you to know what a wonderful legacy Ray has left. Many of us growing up in the Rockton, Westover and Copetown area remember Ray as always smiling and being interested in what was happening, being it about our families, sports or just life in general. We are regrettably unable to attend the memorial service but know it will be a wonderful tribute to a very generous and gentle spirit. May he live on forever in our memories.
we offer our sincere sympathy & condolences to Denise & family Ken.Kim and all the Ofield family & relatives at this time sorrow we will miss Rays visits to manitoulin when he would come to Manitoulin to visit his brother Ken -our feelings are with you all at this time Reg & Noreen
Dear Denise and the Ofield Family, we wish to express our deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband, father, brother and grandfather, Ray. We know he came from a strong caring family who deeply cares for each other. Ray will be missed. Please be assured of our love, Ron & Mona Stewart.
Ray will never be gone as long as he lives in our memories. Those days years ago on McNab St. will be forever etched in my mind.
Denise and I met Ray at the same time and I felt sad that I was losing my best friend when they got married. Boy, was I wrong! I not only gained a loyal and lifelong friend in Ray, but also a partner in life and business with his best friend Bob.
Even though we moved to Calgary shortly after their wedding, we still remained steadfast friends and we purchased our cottage in Hardwick Cove, just around the corner from Ray and Denise’s, 16 years ago and cherish the happy times we spent there with them, our neighbours, family and friends.
Ray made friends with people from all walks of life and was all about people getting along. He was the glue that held a group together, because he was all about peace and harmony.
I will miss Ray’s loud and infectious laugh the most, because it had the power to light up a room. If you weren’t laughing after you heard it, then there was something wrong with you.
Ray lived his life with honesty, integrity, diplomacy, fairness and loyalty and I feel so privileged to have known such a great man.
I am so sad that he was taken from our lives too soon and my heartfelt condolences go out to Denise, David, Charlie, Janeva, Cameron, Ken and his family and all Ray’s friends.
Love you always buddy.

Denise, please accept my heartfelt sympathies for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Denise and family: my thoughts and sympathy are with you at such a sad time. I, too, (like Linda) remember the fun times we had together growing up and visiting the farm. I cannot think of Ray without seeing his smile but also his ever twinkling eyes. May you find comfort in the fact that he was so loved by so many and that he will be reunited with his loved ones who predeceased him.
Love Carol

Although it may seem wrong to call another man sweet, it fits Ray to a tee. Ray was a sweet, caring guy and he will be dearly missed.
He could always make me laugh and I cherish the years that we were friends.
My heart breaks for Denise and family. My love and prayers go out to you.

Denise and Family our thoughts go out for you all at this time. It was a honour to know Ray. I will never forget his laugh and big smile it was contagious to all who were around him. Last time I saw Ray it had been a few years, I entered the house and heard his laugh come from another room and instantly I was happy to be there knowing that Ray and his smile were just around the corner.
Dear Denice,I want to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family. I always remember Ray as a very kind , wonderful and thoughtful man, always in good spirit and offering a helping hand where ever it was needed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I remember Ray as “always” being a fun loving, and good natured person, who liked to bring out the best in people. Truly, he was an incredible human being who we were fortunate enough to have known as part of the family all these years, after marrying Denise. He adapted quite well to all of our nicknames.
He will live on through those who knew him and loved him.
I offer my condolences and well wishes to Denise, David, Charlie and family.
Gods speed to Ray.
We were so saddened to learn of Ray’s passing. He was a true gentleman, with a gentle spirit, who lit up the room with his smile and wonderful laugh. Hello Denise. I just want you to know that you will be always my favorite cousin. And will always be in my heart. Wish I could come and see you? Please write to me and tell me how things are for you soon. I love you and loved Ray and the family. I loved what you said that day to me. You have no regrets or complaints about Ray. He gave you a wonderful life and was a wonderful husband. I still have the video of him coming out of the bathroom with my husbands grandmother coming out of the men’s bathroom, as she blushed. It was halarious to watch. Love you and think of you so often. Love Pam, the one that you met and we instantly clicked. xoxoxoxoxo
