MacRury, Brendan David – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brendan who died suddenly at McMaster Hospital. Cherished husband to Michelle Parrish and loving daddy to Havana. Brendan was the beloved son of Jan Freeman and Alastair MacRury and brother to Kiara (Thomas) and uncle to Natalie.  He will be sadly missed by close family friend, Thomas Waram.  He will be fondly remembered by his aunts Judy Freeman-Werstiuk (Nick), Marita MacRury Easton (Ken, deceased), uncles Russ Freeman (Lynn), Ross Freeman (Kelli), and cousins Christopher Freeman (Colleen), Paul Freeman (Miranda), Angela Freeman, Brittany Gordon (Josh), Kendall Perro (Luke), Connor Werstiuk as well as many second cousins.  He will be welcomed home by all his grandparents.  Brendan will also be missed by his many loyal friends.  Despite his many struggles and challenges, Brendan made a great impact on his world.  He had a strong sense of justice and beneath his rough exterior, had a gentle and loving heart.  He passionately loved his family, had a firm belief in God and dreamed of a better world.  Brendan has a special place in the heart of Havana whom he adored.  He will be remembered by his friends as one who had a strong sense of loyalty, and who loved music that had a powerful message.  Above all, Brendan loved to run and exert himself to the limit.  We want to express our gratitude to all those who valiantly strived to save Brendan`s life at McMaster Children`s Hospital Emergency Room.  Friends will be received by the family on Monday evening, July 18th from 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where Brendan’s Service will take place on Tuesday morning at 11:00.  Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens.  If you so wish, donations to Brendan’s stepdaughter, Havana (In Trust) would be greatly appreciated.

May 2, 1936 – July 3, 2016

 

Passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on July 3, 2016. Loving wife of Russell. Dedicated teacher for the Scarborough Board of Education for over 25 years. Passionate lover of music and art. Friends and family are invited to St. Paul’s United Church 29 Park St. W Dundas on Friday June 8th at 11:00 for a memorial service. Sandi was full of colour! Please wear bright colours to her Celebration of Life. Pope, Daniel Arthur- After a short battle with cancer, passed away at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton on June 27, 2016 in his 73rd Year.  Dan is survived by his loving wife Ann (51 Years) and his children, Tracey (Alan), Dan and Brent. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Aidan and Gwen and siblings Frank, Karyl, Mary, Margaret (deceased) and Harold. Dan farmed in Copetown until 1983 and then entered the real estate business locally (over 30 Years) as well as continuing with the family Dansway Trucking business with his son Dan. Dan’s Service will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, ON,  on Thursday, June 30th at 1 p.m.  The interment will be at Mount Zion  Cemetery, 2nd Concession, with a reception to follow at Copetown Lions Club. Donations to the Copetown Lions Club would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Barbara O’Connor, beloved wife of the late Gerald William O’Connor (2007) for 55 years.  Much loved mother of Brenda and William MacRae of Timmins, Gerald “Larry” and Dawn O’Connor of Dundas, Suzanne and Neil Robertson of Copetown and Barbara and Stan Holiday of Brampton.  Loving grandmother to Andrew MacRae (Carla), Robert MacRae (Beth), Virginia MacRae, Adam O’Connor (Lana), Breanne Ingram (Darius), Timothy O’Connor (Sarah), Victoria O’Connor, Kathryn Robertson, Alexander Robertson, Stephen Holiday, Jeffrey Holiday and Christopher Holiday.  Great-grandmother to William and James MacRae, Ian and Noah MacRae, Delaney and Duncan Ingram and Macie and Madison O’Connor.  Dearly missed by her brother Archie Gillies of Southampton.  She was predeceased by her brothers Claire Gillies and Bruce Gillies.  Much loved sister-in-law to Fran Gillies, Joyce Gillies, Irene O’Connor, Ray and Margaret O’Connor, Leo O’Connor and Rita Mooney.  Barbara graduated from the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and went on to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton for many years followed by a position at Union Drawn Steel of Hamilton.  She was a long time member of the C.W.L. of the St. Augustine’s Parish and volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Grateful thanks to her devoted companions, over the past few years, Anne, Judy, Pat, Irene and Natalia.  You made her life so much richer and we appreciate your compassionate care of our mother.  Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to either the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Good Shepherd Centres would be appreciated by the family.

Hughes_JimHughes, James Owen “Jim” – After a brief illness, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Swaine), and loving father to Michelle Hughes, Alyson Doerr (Ralph) and Darleen Turner (Sam). Jim will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Rafe, Max, Owen and Aiden and his brother Marty (Mary). Jim was the favourite uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Jean and Kay. Jim was a member of the CYO for over 50 years, and was retired Principal and Teacher with the Hamilton Separate School Board. Friends will be received by the family on Friday evening from 7 -9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham St., Dundas. Prayer Vigil Friday evening at 7 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, donations to the CYO or the Good Shepherd Centres would be appreciated by the family.

Grandfather to James, Andrew, Cooper, Logan, and Wesley.  Son of Dorothy Turenne, predeceased by Marcel Turenne. Brother to Carolle Tufford (Gary ), and Albert Turenne.  Peter’s energy and sense of humor would light up a room. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Peacefully at Wentworth Lodge on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late James W. Hill, predeceased by her parents and sisters. Loving mother to Kerby (Joan), the late Jim (Susan), Bryon, Marny Hay (Terry) and Wendy Roberts (Mike). Sadly missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her foster son Murray Richardson and friend Gisela Koenig. Special thanks to the staff at Wentworth Lodge, especially Lilac Lane. Oldham_FrancesOldham, Frances – Peacefully and at home, Frances Janet Richardson Oldham passed away at 6:30am on Monday, June 13th. It was just past her one year anniversary battling Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Frances was the loving wife of Edward H. Oldham, beloved mother to Kym, Scott, Heather (Doug) Spence and Charlene, cherished Gramma to Greg, Tyler and Jacob. Treasured sister to Bill, Don and Lois, Peter Sturm, Jean Nauta and special sister in law to Noreen Richardson, Frances was pre deceased by much loved sister Laurie Sturm, Jelle Nauta, Ruth and Ritchie Swan. Beloved daughter of the late Lila and Murray Richardson and Margaret and Ewart Oldham. Much loved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Frances was an influential family studies teacher (HWDSB), an active member in Rockton Agricultural Society, committed to her faith, elder at West Flamborough Presbyterian Church, and dedicated volunteer in the community throughout her lifetime. Visitation at Turner Family Funeral Home , 53 Main St Dundas on Thursday, June 16 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service to be held at West Flamborough Presbyterian Church (262 Middletown Rd, Flamborough) on Saturday, June 18th at 11:00am. Wignall_JohnWIGNALL, John Utley – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday June 4th. John was born in Clydebank, Scotland, the only child of John Utley Wignall and Grace Murray. He will be always remembered and missed by his wife of 52 years Donna (Donovan), sons John, Greg (Kathy), and Chris (Kristen) and daughter Jane. He was proud to be grandfather of Julia, Ryan, Brandon, Cameron, Ben, Ian, and Amy. John’s career at Dofasco spanned more than 30 years. He had many long time friends including Larry Tournay. He and Donna enjoyed their years of life, love, and laughter; golf, curling, and travel. Please join the family to remember John. Douglas, Dr. John Trainor-Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his daughter ,Kim, by his side. Beloved husband of Paula (2015) for almost 70 years. Together at last. Loving father of Lyn (Brad) Douglas-Peters, Kim (Frank) Nutzenberger, Ann Pryde, Jan (Robert) Dundas. Caring grandfather of Rain Paris, Castle Rock, Trainor, Kyle, Tyler, Addyson, Alexander, Marcus, Stefanie, Jonathan (Stephanie), Nicola (Alex), Jessica (Chase) and great grandfather of Eva and Luca. John will be sadly missed by Bryan Pryde, Des and Catherine McGregor. A very special thank you to Cindy for her compassionate and loving care and for being the bright spot in his day. Pre-deceased by grandson Evan.
