November 4, 1933- May 26, 2017
Boothroyd, Alan Denham B.Sc., M.B.A., P. Eng. – On May 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, Alan passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of sixty years to Judith, loving father of Susan Korporaal (Bill), Richard Boothroyd (Diane), and Valerie Powell (Jeff), proud Grandad of Robert, Angela, Samantha, Daniel, Alex, Amanda, Hannah, and Charlie. Alan was born on November 4, 1933 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. He and Judith emigrated to Canada in 1965. They were avid world travellers. From 1969 to 1997 Alan was employed by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. and in 1991-1995 went to United Nations in Vienna to work at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Alan’s artistic talents included set design for the Waterdown Village Theatre, painting, and photography. He and Judith shared a love for music, opera, theatre, and history. Alan’s family will welcome family and friends at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas from 12:00 – 2:00 pm on June 1st, 2017. A light lunch and refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Juravinski Hospital or a charity of your choice. Alan’s family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care provided by the health care team at Juravinski hospital.
Please accept my condolences. Alan was a fine man, a dear friend of my parents and our entire family. Godspeed Alan
Michael and I send our condolences to Judith and all the family. We got to know and love Alan through Village Theatre, where he built hundreds of fond memories as well as dozens of creative, sturdy sets for the plays we loved working on together. He had a flair for comic timing and delivery when he acted such parts as the judge in The Provoked Wife and Mr Waldo in Under Milk Wood. Both on stage and off, he knew how to make people laugh. His warmth and compassion earned him lasting friendship with those who, like us, moved away but still remember him as a dear friend.
Richard and the entire Boothroyd family,
So sorry for your loss Richard. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

In his too short membership in Dundas Probus, Alan was a wonderfully generous help to me and the Club with his computer savy. He led a full and rich life.
Val, it’s your old friend Jillian McCallum. So sorry to hear about your Dad. I remember him as a sweet and kind man with a nutty sense of humour, kind of like yours. What a wonderful life he had with so many years and so much love with your Mom, all of his kids and his many grandchildren. What amazing memories you must all have. Love to you and your entire family. Take care.
To Val and Family,
We are very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and love are with you all.
Sheri and Kevin
