Lloyd passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, in his 101st year, after a brief illness. He had a long and full life for which both he and his family were very grateful.
Family was the centrepiece of Lloyd’s life and what he enjoyed and valued most of all. He was the much loved and admired father of Greg (Jeanine Hammar), cherished grandfather and card-playing partner of Travis (Laura Crickmore), and beloved brother-in-law of Jessie Stoddart.
“Uncle Lloyd” will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by his niece Susan (Eric) Marshall, nephews Rob (Gail) Stoddart and Don (Debbie) Stoddart, and their many children and grandchildren. He will also be missed greatly by his many friends and neighbours.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Bill Stoddart, his wife Mary (New) and his brother Charles (Chuck) Stoddart.
Lloyd’s childhood fascination with flying and aircraft led him to enlist in the Royal Canadian Air Force at 19 years old, where he served as a pilot during World War II, flying surveillance patrols over the Atlantic Ocean from the east coast of Canada, looking for German submarines.
In civilian life, he had an accomplished career in industry. He rose from an apprentice toolmaker at McKinnon Industries (later General Motors) in St. Catharines to become a foreman, then plant manager, then manufacturing superintendent and general manager for three companies: Anthes Imperial, Molson Industries, and Inter-City Gas. He enjoyed his work immensely, and after ‘retiring’ he became a manufacturing management consultant, and was retained by investors to start up and manage a new company, Odstrum Manufacturing, from 1984-87 in St. Catharines.
He enjoyed travelling and had a lifelong interest in sports, playing several in his younger years, bowling competitively as an adult, bicycling and skating until he was 75 years old, and golfing until he was 92! In his later years he followed baseball (his favourite), football, hockey, and golf closely, and enjoyed discussing the outcomes of games and statistics with family and friends. Always a great storyteller, he was most recently actively engaged in preserving stories about his life and the lives of his family and ancestors for younger family members.
Lloyd battled back from two life threatening illnesses, one in 1967 and the other in 2006, with a remarkable perseverance that was indicative of his determined and independent character. He lived independently in his own house in St. Catharines until he was 98 years old, when he moved to the Amica Dundas retirement residence to be closer to his immediate family.
His family thanks his former St. Catharines neighbours for their wonderful support!
The family also wishes to thank his superb health care providers: Dr. Ahmad Ashrafi and Dr. Jennifer Frendo for their outstanding care in St. Catharines; Dr. Emma Mazurek for her excellent and understanding care in Dundas; the Wellness, Nursing and Personal Support teams at Amica for their daily care and concern; and medical Team C and the staff of the BTU/ICU at Hamilton General Hospital for compassionate care during Lloyd’s final week.
The family wants to commend and thank the staff members in all departments of Amica Dundas for their daily efforts to care for and enrich the lives of residents. Thanks also to Lloyd’s dining partners at Amica for their support and companionship.
In November 2023 Lloyd enjoyed the celebration of his 100th birthday with his many family members and friends at a special reception in St. Catharines. It was wonderful to be able to have a celebration of his life while he was still alive and able to participate! In keeping with Lloyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to a charity of one’s choice if desired. A special way to remember Lloyd would be to do something thoughtful and kind for a neighbour, as he did for many years and his neighbours have done for him in recent ones.
Surrounded by family and loved ones in her 92nd year, our mother Louise passed peacefully at The John Noble Home in Brantford where she lived with Alzheimer’s for the last 6 yrs. She leaves behind her loving husband of 72 years, Edward William deLottinville and 3 children, Marie Parent, Janice Noble, and Edmond deLottinville , 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Louise was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family came first. Louise was born in Saint Godefroi, Gaspe, Quebec, and was one of 14 children. She’s predeceased by her parents Edmond and Emilie Essiambre (Cormier) siblings, Lionel, Clovis, Hecter, Theo, Claude, Aliene, Simone, Juliette, Patricia, survived by Emilie, Donat (Pauline) Sr. Henriette, Sr. Anne Marie.
Mom loved to entertain. She had a real talent for cooking, baking and was an excellent seamstress. She was formally a culinary cook at the Wentworth Lodge in Dundas and worked as a housekeeper/caregiver for many years. Her presence and smile will be dearly missed.
Thank you so much to the staff and caregivers at The John Noble Home. Your dedication, compassion, love, care and respect for our mother will not be forgotten. You were not only her nurses and caregivers, she knew and loved you as her extended family and friends.
Our beloved Mother, Nana, Tante, Friend…. Antonetta Annamaria Daniëls (nee Udo) passed away peacefully in her 102 year at Wentworth Lodge, Dundas, Ontario on January 4 surrounded by love.
She has joined her soulmate Joseph (Jo) her loving husband for 64 wonderful years.
Predeceased by her parents Martinus and Grada Udo (Baars), parents-in-law, Antonius and Wilhelmina Daniëls (Uijtenbogaart), brother, Chris and Bep, sister Guus and Hein and sister-in-law Tiny and Jaap.
Survived by her caring children Josée and Ed, Grace and Mathieu, Michelle and Herman, Trudi and Lyle, Ron and Adriana.
She was a much loved Nana to her treasured grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild who always brought a sparkle to her eyes.
She also had close relationships with all her nieces and nephews in the Netherlands.
Mom and Dad emigrated with four daughters to Canada in 1957 and were blessed with a son in 1959.
Their close friends, Henk and Janie Vandervelde, emigrated with their family the same year, and their children have continued to bring their love and laughter into Mom’s life.
A special thank you to the nursing staff, personal support workers, nutrition and other support staff of Wentworth Lodge for their dedicated care and compassion during Mom’s stay there. Gratitude to Dr. Singh.
A private family funeral mass will be celebrated, cremation to follow with internment at a later date at White Chapel Cemetery.
Mom’s favourite charity was “The Good Shepherd” for anyone who wishes to make a donation.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Pinder, almost 91, born in Nottingham, England. He immigrated to Brampton, Ontario, with his parents and sister at 14. In time, he married Barbara; they had two children, Bill and Patty. They moved to Florida, where Bill worked in construction, building pools. He realized he couldn’t support a family on those wages, so he went to the University of Miami to study electrical engineering while he and Barbara continued to work part-time. Upon graduation, Bill worked at UNIVAC for a time, then moved to Unisys. They offered to let him move to Ottawa, Canada. After living in Florida for years, he found the cold weather unbearable and transferred to the Mississauga office as a computer hardware engineer problem-solver.
Bill and his son Bill (Nicole) enjoyed target shooting, going to events in the US and Canada. He helped Patty learn chemistry terms for her studies as a nurse. He was very proud of both his children, and loved being a grandfather to Patty and Peter’s daughters, Pam and Charlene. Sadly, his marriage ended.
He met Elizabeth (Browne) through Match.com in 2005 and they married in January 2011. Elizabeth’s children, Phil (Karen) and Bronwen (Todd), became fond of their mother’s husband, and appreciated how well he treated her. They also enjoyed his cooking. He was a man of many talents. He had wit and class, never raised his voice, and learned to play Bridge at Elizabeth’s request. He became a worthy opponent at the table. They spent many happy hours playing weekly at the Dundas Seniors Centre.
Bill’s mother and father, Evelyn and Stanley, and his sister Margaret preceded him. He leaves the love of his life, Elizabeth, and his children, grandchildren, and Elizabeth’s children and grandchildren with memories of being a beloved son, father, and husband. He died peacefully on New Year’s Eve, with Elizabeth (Jeannie) caressing his forehead and holding his hand as he took his last breaths.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, January 7 at 11:00 am, at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, Ontario. A livestreaming of the service, with a link good for ninety days, will be added, so those who cannot attend can witness the service when they have time. Special thanks to the people who helped Bill and Elizabeth live with his decline after a compression fracture of L3. Thank you to the paramedics who came many times to pick him up after a fall, the physiotherapist Abe, the PSWs from St. Elizabeth Health, especially BB, Betty, and Sarah B., and Marie-Peŕe Bachand, HHC coordinator who worked so hard to provide the support we needed in his last months.
I thank the staff at St. Peter’s, especially Ashlee, the nurse who helped me say goodbye to Bill in the best way possible. Goodbyes are painful. He didn’t want to leave me. I told him it was time, but I wasn’t ready. It is incredibly hard to let go when you love so deeply. We have memories I will treasure always. You were a wonderful husband to me. Thank you for almost nineteen years of love, my darling Bill.
In loving memory of Ruth Joyce Helm. Born November 1, 1932, in Hamilton and passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her son Gary (August 2022) as well as her parents James Gordon Aglor and Kathleen Aglor, her brother Gord Aglor and his wife Doreen. Survived by her son Brent and his wife Janet, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with her nephews and their spouses as well as the children of the Aglor family. She will be greatly missed by the many friends she made over the years and especially those from West Highland Baptist Church in Hamilton.

On December 13, 2023 we bid farewell to Alex in his 87th year. He died at home as was his wish. Son of the late Andrew and Anna, brother to the late George and Ann, beloved husband to the late Irene and father to Arlene, Donna and Daryl.
He grew up in Hamilton and moved to Binbrook with Irene to raise his family. He operated a small hobby farm with chickens, cows and a pony. Alex worked as a car mechanic at Hamilton Motor Products before becoming a welding and technical teacher at Orchard Park Secondary school. He had a calm and laid back approach to everything in life. Anyone who met him enjoyed his witty remarks and humor.
He loved warm climates and sunshine, especially in Costa Rica where he would enjoy walking the beach and stopping at a beach bar for a cerveza or rum and pepsi.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place in the spring at the Dundas Air Force club. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Hamilton food share
May 6 1947- December 23 2023 Surrounded by her family, Pam passed peacefully. Pam was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was a proud Maritimer. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Battersby, proud mother to Andrea (Geoff), Sean (Janine) and Drew (Jill). Loving Nany to Madeline, Rosslyn and Emma. Pam will be missed by her brothers Darrell (Sharon) , Ian (Barb), nephews, nieces, and friends Susan, and Patti. Pam had a lifelong passion for the care of others, especially children. She trained as a nurse at the Halifax Children’s Hospital and worked in pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. Pam found her true calling as an educational assistant at Glenwood Special Day School, retiring after 27 years of service. Pam was a devout member of the Anglican church, a long time parishioner of St. John’s (the Rock) on Locke Street. She freely shared her wisdom, love and devotion with her community, mentoring the youth group for many years. We would like to thank all the staff at St Joseph’s Villa. We would like to extend a special thanks to Diane, Devy and all the staff in Birch Trail for their incredible care of Mum over the last 18 months. In keeping with her wishes a celebration of life will occur at a later date. It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Eleanor Westoby (nee Howard) announces her passing on Wednesday, December 20th 2023, at the age of 72. Mom to Kevin (Caroline) and Jenny (Dave) and a proud Grandma to Brayden, Aaron, Zachary and Anna. Predeceased by her husband Gord, her parents Norm and Joan Howard, and her in-laws Frank and Laureane Westoby. Sister of Craig Howard (Joanne), Beth Genovese (John), and Barb Warner (Dean). Sister-in-law to Pat Raynsford (Bob) and Bonnie Barrett-Hamilton (John). Carolyn will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was born and raised in Dundas. She began her career as a nurse at Chedoke Hospital, later working in the United Church at Marshall Memorial in Ancaster and St. Andrew’s in Hamilton. Most recently she was the curator of the Dundas Museum.
Thank you to her neighbours for all their care and support over the years, and to the home care workers whose help allowed her to live at home until her final months.
Friends will be received by the family on Thursday January 4th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. in Dundas . A service in honour of Carolyn’s life will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home on Friday January 5th at 11 a.m, followed by a reception at the Dundas Legion, 280 King St West. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be greatly appreciated by the family.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda, after a courageous battle with cancer, on December 25. Linda is survived by her partner of 31 years, Terry Zuliniak. Daughter to Bill English, sisters Debbie (Paul Billings) and Carol Morrison. Step Mother to Bob Zuliniak (Denise) and Kelly Lukaszyk (Mario) Step Grandma to Caitlin (Mitch) and Kristen (Zach) Loving niece Michelle (Kyle), Sarah, Amanda (Vipln).Nephews Jeffrey (Manda) and Billy (Julia). Grand nephews Declan, Blake and Caleb. Nana to Emerson and great nana to Nolan. Pre deceased by her loving mother Ann. Linda was employed for many years as the chief bar steward at the Hamilton Air Force Association. She also gave countless hours of volunteer work there. In later years she was employed by Rona (Waterdown).She loved her work but had to take a leave of absence due to her declining health. We would like to extend an extreme thank you to the Juravinski Cancer Wing and Emmanuel House Hospice for their continued and professional care. In loving memory of our Mom and Gramma. Lois passed away peacefully on December 15th in her 80th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Hans. Loving and devoted mother to Laura (Gabby), Lisa (Martin), and Leigh (Natasha). Gramma will be greatly missed by Kaylee, David, Landon, Nevaeh, JJ and Ryder. Lois was a graduate of the 1966 Hamilton Civic Hospitals nursing program and worked as an RN, retiring from McMaster maternity ward. She enjoyed gardening and singing and was always willing to help answer any medical questions that family or friends asked, especially if it was about babies. Lois was an active member of DBC and enjoyed being the onsite nurse for their Vacation Bible School. Heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the hospice staff at Margaret’s Place. Donations in Lois’ memory can be made on her behalf to Margaret’s Place or the Hamilton SPCA. Cremation and private interment. A Celebration of Life is planned for February 2024.
