Westoby, Marjorie Eliza – Passed peacefully at Creek Way Village in Burlington on Monday, January 8, 2018, surrounded by family, in her 102nd year. Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” and loving mother to Jane DeBoer (John) and Peter (Carol Smith). Grandmother to Alicia and Victoria DeBoer, Melissa Westoby (Don Russell), Ian Westoby (Francie Cozzarin) and great grandmother to Ella Russell. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her 3 sisters; Helen Towns, Enid Towns and Martha Craig. Longtime resident of Dundas and McMaster University retiree.  Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. The Funeral for Marjorie will be held Friday afternoon at 12 noon at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 23 Melville Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy to Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.

Lee, Mary Gertrude (nee Mulligan)

February 20, 1925 – January 5, 2018

Lee, Mary Gertrude – It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Gertrude Lee (nee Mulligan) on Friday January 5, 2018 at Amica of Dundas in her 93rd year.  Loving wife of Mel (deceased). Beloved Mother of Marilynne (Ken), Dianne (Doug) and David (deceased). Proud and doting Grandmother of David (Kaylyn); Stacey; Sadie, Andrew and Gregory. Survived by her sister Karen(Jim) and sisters-in-law Eldene and Eileen.  Mary will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.  Mary graduated from the University of Toronto College of Pharmacy in1948 and with Mel, established Lee Pharmacy in Dundas where they worked together for four decades.  As a Mother, Mary was loving, compassionate, selfless and supportive of any and all her children’s initiatives.  As a doting Grandmother, she embraced her role.  We have been blessed to have had such an extraordinary woman in our lives.  Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Mary’s life will be held later in the spring.  Memorial donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation, PO Box 739 Stn LCD1, Hamilton ON L8N 3M8 or a charity of choice.

Taylor, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (nee Tyson)

December 16, 1941 – January 2, 2018

Taylor, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” – Peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in her 77th year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd (2004), and loving mother of David, Sandra Taylor (Bill McMillan), John, Debi Taylor, and Robert (Elizabeth). Sadly missed by her grandchildren David, Anthony, Steven and James, her brother David (Sara) Tyson, her sister Marilyn (Ron Reniewick) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Kenneth (1987) . Betty was a lifetime member of Stanley Avenue Baptist Church. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Betty will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment White Chapel Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family. The family extends special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital for their excellent care of Betty.

Simpson, Frances Audrey

January 17, 1923 – December 31, 2017

Simpson, Frances Audrey – Peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017, beloved wife of the late Harold (2014), in her 95th year. Loving mother of Donna McRae (Dave), Ruth Simpson and Barb Christianson (Tim), and sadly missed by her grandsons Paul (Sandra) and Peter Christianson, and her great grandsons Kyle and Tyler. Frances is survived by her sisters HElen and Beth Twiss, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Gerald, Boyd, Bill and George and her sister Mary Neale. Frances graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1942, was a longtime member of Rock Chapel United Church, was a founding member of the Westover Artists and was very proud of her involvement in her community. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 10 am until the time of Frances’ Service at 11 am at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to convey their sincere appreciation to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa, Maple Grove, for their excellent care and compassion shown to Mom.

December 2, 1948 – December 29, 2017

Vig, Elisabeth – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, December 29, 2017.  She was incredibly strong, caring and compassionate, and cherished most her family and friends. Elisabeth treasured her childhood memories from Szeged, Hungary, which she spent with her beloved parents, Iren and Erno Grandpierre, along with 9 adoring siblings. She loved to spend her time caring for her grandchildren, Leaf and Rain, and enjoying cottage life with those she loved. She will be deeply missed by her husband Miklos, son Rob, daughter Jacky, and many others. The family would like to express great appreciation for the quality of care and compassion bestowed by the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital over the past month. Friends will be received by the family on Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home,53 Main Street, Dundas.  In keeping with Elisabeth’s wishes, there will be no Service, rather, she would prefer to be remembered in celebration. Ryckman, Lloyd David “Bear” – Passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, December 28, 2017, surrounded by his family.  Cherished husband of Aldeana for 48 years.  Awesome Dad and Grandpa to his daughtersTammy (Philip Start), Shannon (Trevor Henry) and Wendy (Derek Wright) and grandchildren Ty, Tessa, Alora and Abby.  Loved dearly by his sisters Lenore Fortner and Sandra Zwerver (Roy), nieces and nephews and will be missed by his dog Benji.  Predeceased by his parents Harvey and Thora Ryckman and brother Marvin.  Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas where Lloyd’s Service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.  Cremation to follow.  If you so wish, donations to the War Amps would be appreciated by the family.

Wilcox, Helen Ruth (Nee Beckerson)

June 23, 1921 – December 23, 2017

Wilcox, Helen (nee Beckerson) June 23, 1921 – December 23, 2017 – Peacefully at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas on December 23, 2017 at the age of 96. Predeceased by her beloved husband Lou. Also predeceased by her dear sisters Myrtle Smith and Shirley Haller (Carl). Survived and missed by her nieces Patti DeVries (Jack), Joanne Morphy (Geoff) and her cousin Jean Kerfoot. Also remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  Helen served her country by enlisting in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. After the war she became a teacher primarily teaching Grade 1 for her entire career. She loved to travel, loved her Toronto Blue Jays, had ice cream for dessert whenever she could and always had violets on her window sill. A Private Service and Burial was held.

Chaisson, Francis Arthur Daniel

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts after a long and courageous battle with cancer that we announce the passing of Francis, formerly of PEI, at the age of 80 on Dec. 24 with his beloved wife, Eleanor of 60 years and loving family by his side. Survived by his wife Eleanor, daughter Darlene, son Andy (Jill) and precious grandchildren Felicia, Clarissa and Brandan and brother Alphonsus (Marie). Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Catherine (MacCormack), brothers Johnny (Marguerite), Andy (Anne), sisters Leona (Charlie), Gertrude (Bill), Priscilla (Wally). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and his dog, Molly. Will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity towards people, love of family, friends and music and his way of making people laugh. Our deepest appreciation to his nurses Joanne and Theresa and all the staff of St. Joseph’s Home Care as well as his PSW, Bailey for their extraordinary care. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at Turner Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas, on Friday December 29, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers to be held at 2pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Regina Mundi Parish, 631 Mohawk Rd. W. Hamilton, at 10:00am on Saturday December 30th, 2017. Neilson, Edward Arthur “Ted”

September 1, 1928 – December 19, 2017

Neilson, Edward Arthur “Ted” – Born September 1, 1928, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 19th in his 90th year.  Ted is predeceased by his loving wife June Eileen (2004).  Beloved father of Jennifer McLaren (Ron predeceased), Carolyn Neilson (Wayne Feeney) and Peter Neilson.  Grandfather of Heidi, Bryan, Kendra, Quinn, Keegan and Aidan; great-grandfather of River, Saylor and Zoey.  Brother of Marion Alice McLean (predeceased) and Dorathy Smith and uncle of many neices and dear friend of Mary Bryant.  Ted was a voracious reader who loved classical jazz, fishing, Wawa and his roots in Hamilton.  Thank you to the incredible staff at the St. Peter’s Palliative Care Ward and the staff at Caroline Place.  Family and friends are welcome by the family for a Graveside Service on Thursday, December 28th at 2:00 p.m. at WHITE CHAPEL MEMORIAL GARDENS, Hamilton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew’s House, Hamilton.

Agnew, Robert John Franklin “Jack”

Agnew, Robert John Franklin “Jack” – Passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on December 15, 2017 surrounded by loved ones in his 81st year. Lifetime friend of Kathy Lawrence. Dear friend of Carol (Ted) Castle and Marion (Gary) Bowslaugh. He is predeceased by his parents John and Catherine Agnew. Jack was a long-term employee of Revenue Canada. He was also an avid fisher and golfer who was a member of Flamborough Hills Golf and Country Club for 52 years. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Monday December 18th from 6-8pm and Tuesday December 19th from 10-11am. The service will be held in the chapel at 11:00am followed by a reception. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
