It is with great sadness that the family of Jane Simpson announces her sudden passing at St. Joseph’s Villa, Dundas on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 76. She is survived by her brothers Robert (Patricia) Simpson, John (Janet) Simpson, and predeceased by her parents James (Jim) and Helen.
Jane also leaves behind her niece and nephews, Emily, David, Ian (Nancy), Eric (Michelle), great nieces and nephews, Avery, Ryan, Isobel, Ivy and Holly along with many relatives and friends.
Jane was a special individual with a heart as big as they come, had an uncanny memory, wonderful sense of humour and a savory disposition when things weren’t going her way.
She enjoyed singing, music, crafts, her many cats over the years, with an affection for the royal family and her love of God and Church.
Our heartfelt thanks to the many who cared for Jane over the years, who literally became an extension to our family, with a special mention to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa and Community Living in Port Colborne. Jane never forgot what you did for her and loved each and every one of you.
A graveside service will be held at the Hamilton Cemetery, 777 York Blvd, Hamilton at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024. All are welcome.

It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, Papa and Opa, Michael Yoshimoto on April 27th, 2024, in his 81st year. Michael was born in Litton, BC, and he leaves behind his loving wife Dineke and devoted daughters Esther (Richard), Audrey (George) and Christa (Rich) and grandchildren, Aidan, Noah, Evan and Andie. A long time resident of Dundas, Michael loved life and cherished his time with family and hobbies of fishing, skiing and car mechanics. With a career as an Electrical Technologist and interest in mechanics he could tackle any challenge that came his way. We will miss seeing him along the shores of Georgian Bay. As per Michael’s wishes, there will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory can be gratefully made to the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
Vera passed away peacefully at Margaret’s Place Hospice on Friday March 29, 2024. Beloved spouse of Joe. Vera was born in Northern Ireland in 1936 and emigrated with Joe to Canada in 1960, where she raised and was a loving mother to Michelle and Sean. Vera was a proud and loving grandmother to Katie, Andrew, Eleanor, and Anne, and loving mother-in-law of Juan Carlos and Eileen. Dearly loved sister of the late Jack Todd, Harry Todd, Francis Tweedie, and Margaret Ford. We will be forever grateful for all the love, support, and care Vera received from her nephew Todd and his family and for all the kindness and love she received from the extended Todd and Palmer families. Also we have tremendous gratitude for the care, compassion, friendship, and love she received from her caregivers, Cyndi and her staff at Bertram Place. Vera was a talkative, artistic, and vivacious person, and will be missed dearly by all she touched and met. Donations in Vera’s memory can be gratefully made to Margaret’s Place Hospice. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Jane, at her residence on April 13th, 2024 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Joe (predeceased). Loving mother to Edward John (Janet) and Colin Philip. Jane will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony), Heather (James), and 5 great grandchildren. Left to mourn her loss are her sister-in-law, Ruth Watson and her nephew, Philip Watson. Jane is predeceased by her brother, John Watson, and nephew, Edward Watson.
Working in the circulation department of the library at McMaster University for 25 years, Jane had the opportunity to share her love of books, and help shape young minds.
Visitation will take place on Sunday April 21st, 2024 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choosing would be appreciated.

She is predeceased by her mother Marie McHattie and her sister Margaret Bourgeois. Anne will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Jessie, Ashlynne, Victoria, Kelli, Tristan, Brooklyn, Austin and Chloe. It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Claire Ellen Pym (nee Good) who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas at the age of 81. Claire is reunited with her loving parents James and Dorothy Good, sister Cathy Good, and son-in-law James Gilbert. Beloved wife of Terry Pym, and mother of Craig (Kelly), Jason (Hilda), Kimberley (Scott), Jennifer (Brad), and Erin (Steve). Survived by her brother Peter (Judy). Loving grandmother to all of her grandchildren Hunter, Reese, Alexa, Linden, Keagan, Ethan, Eleanor, Sarah, Isaac, and Jonas. Claire was retired from the Rose City Senior’s Centre in the City of Welland as a Senior’s Recreation Coordinator. Claire was a social butterfly and was the “hostess with the mostest”, always being the centre of family gatherings of which she will be greatly missed. Sincere gratitude to the exceptional care from St. Joseph’s Villa, Birch Trail nurses, PSW’s, doctors and staff in providing the utmost care and love for Claire throughout her illness and especially in her final days and hours. Cremation has taken place. Visitation and funeral will take place at TURNER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 53 Main St., Dundas. Visitation to be held on Friday, April 12th from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.. Funeral will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 2:00 P.M. Passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2024 at the age of 94. Reen will be missed dearly by his daughters Marlize Monaco-Millar (Gord), Ellen Thornton (Jim) and son Richard (Carole). He was “Pappie” to grandchildren Shaylia Fennama (nee Monaco) (Neal), Penny Ann Lupton (nee Thornton) (Ken), Lisa (nee Monaco) Fennema (Colin), Jim Thornton (Amanda), Richie Vanderlubbe, Christopher Vanderlubbe (Jessie), Jessica Millar, and James Millar, and 18 great grandchildren. Reen is pre-deceased by his wife Regine (Sini), his brother Bill, his sister Rita, his inlaws (Inge, Peter, Fred, Gwen, Harry, Detta, Carmen, Jim), his son-inlaw Rino Monaco, and his grandson Ricky Monaco (Bernadette). Reen was born in the Netherlands, moved to Suriname in 1947, marrying Sini, and moving to Canada in 1958. He entered the grocery business and owned an IGA store on Main St E in Hamilton from 1963 to 1989. Many family members worked a stint in that store, and many friendships and marriages formed there. Reen was an avid tennis player in his backyard court, The Landings in Fort Myers, and until age 85 at the Burlington Racket Club. A great life! A visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 10th, from 7pm-9pm at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.
Simpson, Helen Kathleen (nee Hutcheson) Nov 18, 1923-March 30th, 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Simpson announces her peaceful passing at home at the remarkable age of 100! Helen was born in Huntsville, Ont. to Arthur and Edna Hutcheson. She is survived by her beloved sister Janet Fisher and predeceased by her brother Dennis (Betty), sisters Ruth and Joan (Jim Amos). Helen is also predeceased by her late husband Jim (“farmer Jim”- Feb 2000). They were married for 54 years! She is also survived by her loving daughter Jane, and sons Robert (Patricia), and John (Janet), her grandchildren Ian (Nancy), Eric (Michelle), David, Emily and her great grandchildren Avery, Ryan Isobel, Ivy and Holly. She is lovingly referred to as “Great Nanny”. Through her life, Mom was also surrounded by so many amazing cousins, in-laws, and brother and sister in-laws that kept us in an active social life. Mom was the guiding light on the hill, with a strong conviction to her Lord. She gladly shared her love, care, wisdom, inspiration and tremendous generosity to all. She loved music, and was a long time member with Dad in the choir and guiding movement at Christ Church Flamborough. She wrote music & poems and played the cello, piano and guitar. When visiting Mom, you were treated to her renowned cooking or baking and usually sent home with pictures or a remembrance of old. As you departed she would always ask “is there anything I can do for you?” Special thank you to many years of gentle care by Dr. L. Coren, and more recently Dr. A. Emili and the Home health care nurse team. A special thank you to Rev. Naomi Kabugi for comforting Mom & the family, exactly when needed. Special mention of love to her forever friends, Murdie Faulkner and Mildred Hodd (deceased). Special mention to Julie Jackson for her kind help and friendship for Mom; as well our close cousin, Ron Spears, which Mom referred to as her 3rd son! A Celebration of her Life will be held Friday, April 5th at Christ Church Flamborough, #92 Hwy #8, Dundas (near bullocks cors.). Visitation from 10 am with the service beginning at 11am. Interment following a reception at the church at Hamilton Cemetery by the family. Passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, March 30, 2024 just shy of her 76th birthday. Beloved wife of Ron for over 43 years. Loving mother to Joelle (Mike), Alethea, and Nathaniel. Caring grandmother to Dara, Ava, Bennett, Corrinne, Darryn, Erryn, Adanna. Pat will be missed by her siblings, Denise, Debbie, Donna and Kenneth. She will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
