Michael passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024. He was in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Dale for 34 years, step-father to Ian and Maggie, grandpa to Sarah, Owen and Emma. Maggie and Sarah were constants in Michael’s life and he cherished that. Michael was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Georgia McCarthy. He will be dearly missed by his sister Molly (Bill), brothers Chris (Kathy), and Kevin (Fatima), brothers-in-law Mike Murray (Mary) and Scott, plus all his nieces, nephews and their children. Michael was a member of IBEW Local 105 and finished his working career with OPG. Thanks to extended family, friends and acquaintances for being a part of Michael’s journey. We also want to thank CCAS, Dr. Smosarski, the staff at Amica Stoney Creek and the Bayshore PSW,s for the excellent care provided to Michael. Cremation has taken place and in keeping with his wishes there will be no service or celebration of life.

Anna “Joyce” Moon, 92, of Dundas, Ontario passed away peacefully at Juravinski hospital March 9th, 2024.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Ian “Bud” Moon and her son Terry Yendrick. She is survived by her son, Wayne Yendrick, her 7 grandchildren, Ken, Terri-lynn, Nathan, Nicole, Sarah, Rob and Quin and her 5 great grandchildren Sierra, Avery, Paige, Cohen and Fynnley. She will also be missed by Susan Deanes and Judy Robson.
Visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas on Wednesday March 13, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. with funeral service at Turner Family Funeral Home on Thursday March 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery.
On Monday, March 4th, 2024 at the age of 69, Mark Shurvin, our beloved dad and Grampa passed away unexpectedly. Predeceased by his parents Robert and May and his brother Stephen. Survived by his brother John and sister Colleen. Mark has left behind his four children Jamie (Emily), Michael, Nicole (Dave) and Jessica (Ryan) as well as his six grandchildren Spencer, Reese, Clara, Ben, Callum and Jack and his long-time friend and the mother of his children, Michele. A lifelong resident of Greensville, he was a pillar in his community. A former town councillor and Mayor of Flamborough, Chairman of the Hamilton Conservation Authority and President and honorary life director of the Rockton Fair. He held a certificate in arbitration and mediation from the University of Toronto and worked in adjudication and management for the Ontario Ministry of Labour for 28 years, retiring just 5 years ago. Ahead of his time, he was passionate about the environment, he was inclusive and he was a firm believer in a publicly funded system in which everyone has access to quality health care and education, always looking out for the greater good of society. It was his lifelong dream to own a farm and that dream came true in 2004. He was in his element driving a tractor, tending to the animals and just being on the farm. He was one of a kind, he taught us so much, but above all of this, he was our dad, our Grampa and our friend and we will miss him terribly. Friends may pay their respects at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas, on Tuesday, March 12th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral service will take place at Christ Church Flamborough, 92 Highway 8, Dundas, on Wednesday, March 13th at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at Rockton Fairgrounds, 812 Old Highway 8, Rockton. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edgar (Ed) James Coomber on February 29th, 2024, in his 83rd year. He was surrounded by family and the wonderful caring people who he loved at Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas. Son of Jessie and Hardy Coomber of Hamilton. He will be greatly missed by all of his family including siblings Shirley Ryder, Harold & Josie Coomber and sister-in-law Anne Turenne. Predeceased by Hardy Coomber and Deloris Rhode. Ed married the love of his life Verna and were inseparable for 61 years. Ed had 4 boys, John & Donnie, Chop & Tammy, Jim & Leeann and was predeceased by Danny. He was a loving grandpa to Josh, Aaron, Caitlyn, Dylan and great-grandpa to Elise. He leaves behind nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him. Ed and Verna were foster parents for many years caring for babies & toddlers whom they loved dearly making a positive impact on all their lives. Ed had many hobbies and interests over the years including coaching girls’ baseball, boys’ hockey, lacrosse, camping, traveling and volunteer firefighting. He could fix most things and would always offer to help when needed. Ed was an amazing woodworker and made many beautiful things. He loved his 1959 Chevy Impala Convertible, but most of all he loved his time with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be kept to the immediate family. Marion (Misty) Harrison (Nee Tyrrell) September 14, 2023 to February 27, 2024 Peacefully, after a full century of living, our incredible Nana Marion Harrison passed away in Dundas on February 27. Misty spent the first five years of her life in orphanages, before being adopted by Herbert and Jean Tyrrell of Toronto. Even at the very end of her life, Misty was still expressing gratitude to her late parents for choosing her and for providing her with such a wonderful home and family in which to grow up.
At a time when fewer women went to university, Misty attended the University of Toronto and earned a general arts degree. She was always extremely well-read, intelligent, and well-versed in current affairs. While she was at university, she was set up on a blind date, and into her life came the dashing young Ted Harrison. From that point on, they would spend their lives devoted to each other.
Misty and Ted were blessed with three children, and when the kids became teenagers, the Harrison home on Hillcrest Avenue in Hamilton was a popular spot for the siblings and all of their friends. This continued even after Misty and Ted’s eldest son Tyrrell was killed in a car accident when he was only 19.
When daughter Ann and son Alan moved out and were married, Misty and Ted made the most of their new “empty nest” and traveled the world. Galapagos Island, Kenya, and England were some of their favourite destinations. While Ted was busy running his company Hamilton Wire with Alan, Misty spent her days devoting her time to many volunteer organizations, including the VON, CNIB, and Hamilton Art Gallery. Together they always had Labrador dogs, at one point famously having five. Misty trained many of them to do field trials, with few being very successful except for her favourite dog, Simon. Misty and Ted embraced grandparenthood with us (Edward, Thomas, Jessica, Hilary, William, and Richard). Christmases with Nana and Grampa at their home in Ancaster were magic, with a giant tree requiring a huge ladder to decorate to it. Many wonderful memories were also made in Muskoka on Cameron Island. All family celebrations, including birthdays, Easters, and New Years, were spent together and made more special because of them.
Tragically, Misty and Ted lost both Ann (1997) and then Alan (1999). Incredibly, Misty soldiered on, even as Ted’s Alzheimer’s slowly took his mind away from him, and still after he passed away in 2013. Our Nana lived on for us – for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – still continuing to see us and support us, and even taking us down south for amazing family vacations in the Caribbean. Despite her unimaginable losses, she never had a “woe is me” attitude. She was wise and loving until the end.
Misty leaves behind her loving and loved grandchildren: Thomas (Oyima), Edward, Will (Laura), Hilary (Brad), Jessica (Chris), and Richard; her adored great-grandchildren: Ellie, Sarah, Dylan, Courtney, Sam, and Maddie; her son-in-law Dave (Cathy) and daughter-in-law Alexandra; and all of Ted’s wonderful extended Harrison clan in Hamilton, Victoria, and elsewhere. Special thanks goes to Alice, the most amazing caregiver and friend, first to Ted and then to Misty. We will be eternally grateful for the kindness and care she gave to both of our grandparents. Misty was clear that she did not want a formal funeral service, but we look forward to having a celebration in the spring to honour the life of our Nana. Joyce passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 19, 2024 in her 93rd year. Dear mother of John (Sue), Marilyn (Ken), Sheila (Bob) and Debbie. Cherished gram of Melissa (Ryan), Darren (Louise); and great-gram of Hudson (Sr.) and Hudson (Jr.). Joyce will also be missed by siblings Ed, Leona and Wayne and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings, Maude, Howard, Mary, Dorothy, Cliff, Mildred, Reta, Helen, Winnifred, Audrey, Bruce, Blanche, Margaret.

On February, 21, 2024, Ken passed away at home in Dundas, ON. Beloved husband of Alicia Rose (Baker) and the father of Glenn (deceased), Gary (Sara), and Scott (Elizabeth). Step-father of David Ramsay (Veronica) and Catherine Knight. Grandfather of John, James, David, Jeffrey, Alicia, Amber (deceased), Sean, Andrew, Max and Kate. Great-Grandfather of thirteen. Born in Montreal, Ken graduated with honours from McGill University in 1950, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1953 and was a fellow of the Ontario, Quebec and Bermuda Institutes. After senior positions with the Canadian National Railways, Deloitte Touché and the Federal government, Ken joined the CICA in 1973 as Executive Director/President and retired in 1992. Ken was involved in the formation of the International Federation of Accountants and was an advisor and member from 1973 to 1990. This activity included extensive travel worldwide. Ken was also the CICA- appointed Council member of the Chartered Accountants of Bermuda for 17 years. Ken has been National Treasurer of St. John Ambulance and a Commander of the Order of St. John and held senior positions at the national and provincial level of Scouts Canada. “Archie” was born January 19 at 1:48 p.m. to parents Taylor and Elijah Laman in Brantford. After 26 days of perfection, he passed peacefully into the arms of our Heavenly Father in the early morning of February 14. In his brief life on earth, Archie touched countless lives through his sweet smiles and love of cuddling. Although we miss him dearly, his memory lives on through the donation of his heart valves to a baby in need. Archer is greeted in Heaven by his two siblings and many cousins gone too soon through miscarriage and illness. Although we mourn here, Heaven rejoices! We can rejoice also, knowing that it is only “Goodbye” for now.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 22 from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarview Church (20 Cedar St, Paris), with interment to follow.

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Brian W. Howe (August 21st, 1959) on Tuesday, February 13th peacefully in his sleep.
He leaves behind his granddaughter, Grace, his daughter, Shayla (Dallas), his son, Tyler (Sarah), and his loving wife and partner in all, Louise. He also leaves behind his parents, Leona and Archie, his sister Bonnie (John), brother Gord (Sheila) as well as many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces.
Brian was employed (and occasionally worked) at Stelco Hilton Works when he wasn’t pulling pranks or just having fun from 1979 until his retirement in 2010. Once retired and a short stay at home, he was given the opportunity to work for TOA and travel the world working as a consultant at steel plants installing processing lines.
Brian’s sense of humour and good-natured personality will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation and Service will be on Saturday, February 17th at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, ON. Visitation from 1- 3 pm, and service at 3 – 4 pm.
We will be having a Celebration of Life for Brian on July 6th. Details will follow once confirmed.

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Stephen (Steve) Charles Beatty at the age of 64. Steve passed peacefully at his residence in Dundas, Ontario on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Born on April 11, 1959, Steve was raised in Woodstock, Ontario, first born son of the late John (Jack) Beatty (1991) and Rose (Laskoski) Beatty.
Steve is survived by his wife and best friend, Tracey Harrod, and her children Ashton and Keaton Hunter. He was the proud father of Alexandra (Jake) Murray and Jack (Samantha) Beatty, and loving Grandfather to the light of his life, Noah Beatty. He is also survived by his mother, Rose Beatty, his brother Bill (Maria) Beatty, niece Brittany (Ryan) Napman, and great niece Maddie Napman. Steve is also survived by Mitzi Beatty, Steve’s former partner and mother of Alexandra and Jack.
Steve graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982, with a focus on International Relations. He competed on the world stage in the sport of rowing, representing Canada at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He continued with cycling, raising money for charities and golfing with his friends.
Steve’s unparalleled dedication and work ethic transcended his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, son and brother. A lifelong competitive athlete and well-respected businessman, his competitive and hard-working spirit throughout his life was instilled in his children as they both excelled athletically and professionally.
His career as a financial planner with Beatty Financial Solutions (Sun Life Financial) with his son and partner Jack, created lifelong friends and colleagues. He was planning on retiring this year, to be able to continue to travel and explore the world with Tracey.
If you were fortunate enough to meet Steve, you would know how hard working, thoughtful, loving, generous, fun, and inspirational of a man he was.
Keeping with his wishes, a celebration of life will be held on Friday February 9th at 2pm to 4pm for friends and family at the Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club at 10 Woodleys Ln, Dundas, Ontario L9H 6Y6.
