Poyner, James Michael “Jim”

Poyner, James Michael – March 16, 1943 – May 13, 2020 – passed away peacefully at home on May 13th, 2020, at the age of 77. Remembered by sons Raymond Poyner, his wife Debra Poyner, Timothy Poyner, John Poyner, his wife Melissa Poyner and grandchildren Trinity and Randy Richmond, brother Bob Poyner and his wife Pat, sister-in-law Eleanor Emery and her husband Jim and their families. Predeceased by his wife Lynda Lee, daughter Lisa, mother and father Jake and Anne. Missed by all. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. Sheppard, Anita Doreen (nee Leavitt)

At home, and with loving family by her side, Anita passed on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 84 years of age. Predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, James H. (Jim) Sheppard in 2004. Dearest mother of Lorie Shimmell (John) and Jamie Peritore (Gerlando), and loved grandmother of Whitney, Scott and Alex. Anita’s life, in childhood through adulthood and into the wise years, has been full of loving relationships: her cherished
parents (Ormel and Irene Leavitt/nee Cooper) and grandparents, her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins,
friends and neighbours. Anita’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren honour her life and bring her
memory into the future of our family. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Anita’s life will take place at a later date. If desired, expressions of sympathy, in Anita’s memory, to the Canadian Cancer Society, the
Cancer Assistance Program (Hamilton), or your preferred charity would be sincerely appreciated. Anita always had a friendly smile to share, always cared about others, and her light will shine on.

Kidney, David Edward

August 11, 1951 – May 6, 2020

Kidney, David Edward – On Wednesday May 6th, David Kidney was suddenly and unexpectedly called home to meet his Savior. He loved his family dearly; his wife Gloria, his 2 sons Jesse and Matt, and his two daughters-in-law Tiffany and Jen. Madison and Brooke, his 2 beautiful granddaughters were the pride of his life. He was born in Hamilton to Joyce and Ed Kidney in 1951. David was the eldest of 3 brothers, Alan (Helen), who now lives in Red Deer Alberta, and Stephen, now in Wainfleet. As a graduate of the McMaster Fine Arts Programme, David had a lifelong interest in the arts. His other passion was music. Playing the guitar was a daily habit and writing songs a favoured pastime. David’s joy in the Lord deeply impacted his family in Christ at Bethany Gospel Chapel where he was an elder. He was involved in the Dundas community through coaching baseball, soccer and hockey when the boys were young. As Director of Classroom Services at McMaster for 40 years, he was involved in many aspects of campus life and he sat on several professional committees including OUETDA where he had many friends and colleagues. David’s Service will be live streamed from Turner Family Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at https://livestream.com/accounts/14938408/davidkidney. Cremation has taken place.

Pfeffer, Donald

Pfeffer, Donald – passed away at Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, May 1st, 2020, at the age of 80. He was a good son, brother, husband, son-in-law, father, and grandfather.  He will forever be loved and remembered by: his wife Kate; three sons Steven (Azumi), Edward (Marnie), David (Rebecca), and one step-son, Mike (Tina); Don will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, as well as his sister Jean, two brothers Wayne (Jenny), and Jerry. He spent his lifetime as an educator. He loved nature and supported conservations. He enjoyed getting to know people and all things cultural. A private family service has taken place. His church family will celebrate his life at a later date.

 

Hall, Michael

December 14, 1945 – April 30, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Hall announces his death after succumbing to dementia related illnesses on 30 April 2020. Michael will fondly be remembered by his wife of 28 years, Jean Findlay and her daughters, Wendy and Sheri, his four grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Sheila Brunies and her son Kristopher. Michael was born and raised in England and later moved to New Zealand where he became a civil engineer and then travelled the world working on nuclear and power projects including Korea, Nigeria and India. Michael will be remembered for his dry, sharp humour and remarkable stained glass creations. Michael is predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Mary Hall, and his first wife Muriel (nee. McGavin) Hall. Celebration of life service will be planned for a future date.

McCormack, Bruce Henry

Passed away peacefully at St. Peters Hospital, April 14th, 2020 at the age of 84. Bruce will be missed by his wife Carole (nee Church), his son Neil and wife Crystal, grandchildren Dakoda and Jayme; his daughter Christine Grice and grandchildren, Douglas, David, Piper and Sydney. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at a later date.

Roberts, Bruce Arthur “Dewey”

October 30, 1924 – April 15, 2020

Roberts, Bruce Arthur “Dewey” – Peacefully with his loving family by his side, Dewey passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Emmanuel House. He will be abundantly missed by his granddaughter Lisa (Jeff Erb); loving great-grandchildren Danielle and Justine and son-in-law Allan Caldwell. Predeceased by his wife Evelyn “Buckle” Roberts and daughter Judy McCaig. He brought so much joy to so many people and was truly a gift. Dewey’s passions in life were his great-grandchildren, golfing and social gatherings with his close family/friends. A special thank you is extended to Emmanuel House for their care and compassion toward Dewey and his family. As an expression of sympathy, donations will be gratefully accepted in Dewey’s honour to Emmanuel House Hospice (Palliative Care) 90 Stinson St., Hamilton, ON L8N 1S2. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas will be held on Tuesday, November 23 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a Service at 2:00.  Interment at Grove Cemetery.  All attendees for visitation and Service must be double vaccinated and show id. Forever loved and cherished.

Collis, Ian James

June 25, 1959 – April 10, 2020

Ian James Collis -1959-2020 – It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Ian’s sudden passing on Friday April 10, 2020. Dear husband of Anita (nee Driedger), for 38 years. He will be greatly missed by his mother Marie, and his siblings Mark (Rose), Albert (Debbie), Rebecca (Fernando) Melo, and Harold (Carry-Anne).Brother-in-law to Eleanor (Gary) Warkentin, Louise Langeman, and Linda (Jim) Dyck. Predeceased by his father Harold. He will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. We wish to thank all the medical team, especially Dr. Freitag, Dr. Primrose, and his nurse Margaret, at Hamilton General Hospital for their amazing and compassionate care. Cremation and a small graveside service has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations in Ian’s memory may be made to Ronald McDonald House or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Bozyk, John

Born March 7, 1924 in Onut, Ukraine, died peacefully at the age of 96, on April 12, 2020. The only child of Steve and Dorothy Bozyk, John came to Canada with his mother in 1933 to join his father and became a lifelong resident in the Dundas area. He leaves behind a legacy of being an honest, hard working, kind and generous man. He will be sadly missed. Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, a private family internment has already taken place.

Cobourne, Kacheta Agatha “Sonia”
