Kowalchuk, Mary – Passed away peacefully at Amica in Dundas on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. She will be dearly missed by her brothers Tom (Barbara) and Bill (Donna) and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Mary was predeceased by her brothers Nicholas (Shirley), John (Anne), Sy (Norma), Walter (Sarah), Alex (Thelma) and Peter (Mary Jane). As per Mary’s wishes, a private graveside service was held at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy to the Hamilton General Hospital – Heart Unit, would be appreciated by the family.

June 15, 1936 – November 5, 2020
We celebrate the life of Derek Charles Boulter and announce his peaceful passing at Credit Valley Hospital on Thursday, November 5, 2020, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Earlon Burns (2018) and dear stepfather to Richard Bourgeois (Victoria) and Sandy Sandiford (Arthur). Loving grandfather to Alexander, Zoe, Matthew and Cora. Those who knew Derek, know he counted his marriage to Earlon as one of his greatest accomplishments. Although they met later in life, they enjoyed over 20 wonderful years together. She gave him the family that he had always wanted and together they enjoyed many cruises and saw much of the world together. Derek loved his adopted home-town of Dundas, ON. He was an active member of the community, whether it be taking part in local politics, coaching soccer, or leading the local boy scouts troop. Derek was the Southampton Saints (self-proclaimed) biggest fan. He would celebrate every win by wearing his cap and telling everyone about all the team stats. (The Saints finally came through for Derek with a big win on the date of his passing and topped the Premiership table for the first time in history – this would have made Derek’s day!). A special thank you to all the staff at Extendicare Mississauga for all their care and support. Derek’s wishes for a cremation, have taken place, and a small memorial gathering will take place at St. James’ Anglican Church, Dundas.

September 22, 1960 – November 3, 2020
Peacefully, with family by his side, Daniel Robert Lee passed away on Nov 3, 2020, at the age of 60, at Emmanuel House Hospice, Hamilton, ON following a brief illness. Dan was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Teresa Wasiak Lee, only three weeks earlier.
Dan spent the first two decades of his life in Dundas, ON., attending Parkside High School before heading off to university. He was one of those rare individuals who was as comfortable writing essays as he was writing computer code, obtaining university degrees in both history (Queen’s University) and computer science (McMaster University).
Upon graduation, Dan began his career in the telecommunications field at MDR, eventually working with Lucent and then Telus. As he changed employers he also moved from Hamilton to Calgary where he met Teresa. It was love at first sight. They were married in 2003. Their relationship was built on a deep passion for music, as Teresa was a professional French horn player and Dan was a music fanatic. They ultimately returned to Ontario, living first in Waterdown and finally St Catharines. Dan was a hard-working and well-respected employee who stayed in telecommunications for nearly 35 years.
One of Dan’s foremost and lifelong passions was creating and operating a high fidelity audio system. He had a special appreciation for progressive rock and fine jazz performances, and he very much enjoyed listening to a diverse range of music with a sound quality rivalling that of a professional recording studio. His music collection and musical acumen was extensive and formidable.
Dan forged lifelong friendships with many people and was admired for his excellence in everything that he set his mind to, meticulous in every detail. He became an expert downhill skier in his youth and an avid mountain biker as a young adult. As an outdoor enthusiast, he went on numerous backcountry camping trips with his close friends, from canoeing in Algonquin Park to more recently backpacking on the West Coast Trail, the Long Range Traverse and in Pukaskwa National Park. Dan enjoyed the challenge of an adventure, comradery with his friends, and wowing them with some new gear that he had found! He leaves behind many happy memories.
Dan was a thoughtful, kind, talented, intelligent, and loyal individual. This loyalty extended to his choice of clothing and gear – his love for all things Patagonia is legendary among those who knew him well. He knew lots of stuff about lots of things, and would happily share his knowledge with friends and family at length. He was a loving family man. As the eldest of four he was looked upon by his siblings as the rock of the Lee family – the one they turned to for help, guidance and advice.
Dan is the son of Ruth Lee and the late David Lee. He is survived by his sisters and brother, Sarah (Cameron Belsher), Stephen (Nancy Reinhart), and Deborah (Kevin Eldridge). He is also survived by his step-daughter Clare (David) Adamcik, his brother-in-law Ed (Katherine) Wasiak, and sisters-in-law Christine Kessel, Colette (Wayne) Bischoff, and Marcia (Michael) Scott. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and an adored friend.
The family would like to thank the staff at Emmanuel House Hospice and Niagara Health – St. Catharines Site for their compassionate care of both Teresa and Dan, as well as thank the many outstanding home caregivers. The family is also grateful for the immense kindness and support of extended family, friends and neighbours. Cremation has taken place, with a Celebration of Life planned for a future date. If desired, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Emmanuel House Hospice.

With our hearts breaking, we announce the tragic passing of our beloved son Warren on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Left to mourn his passing are his loving parents Rollo & Marilyn (nee Shewfelt) of Dundas and his sister Lori whom he loved unconditionally. He was her rock. Warren was predeceased by his partner Penny in 2016. He was a loving Papa to Melissa and her family, T.J. and Shannon and their family and Breanna and James and their son. Warren was born and raised in Copetown and he graduated from Dundas District High School and went to McMaster University and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree. Warren worked for many years in the Peterborough area and at the time of his passing, was living in the town of Frankford. He was a lover of nature and was always happy to be walking his two little puppies on the many trails in the area. Warren was a great family man and looked forward to every big family get together. He was a special nephew to his Uncle Delbert Shewfelt (Marilyn) and his Uncle William “Bill” Shewfelt (Yvonne). Warren will also be missed by his Snyder aunts Ina McCurdy (Colin) and Rosemary Stinger of Florida. Warren was loved by his many cousins and was especially close to Kevin Shewfelt who will recall some of their adventures together. He had many friends, both at work and in his daily life. Too many to mention but they will miss him. Glen, his boss and good friend, will miss their chats and good times. Warren, you were loved from the day you were born and will be loved forever. Warren was the grandson of the late Delbert and Mary Ann Shewfelt and George and Mildred Snyder. A Funeral Service will take place Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas, on Wednesday, November 4 at 1:00p.m.. DUE TO COVID-19, THE SERVICE WILL BE BY INVITATION ONLY. Falco, James (Jim) Vincent
(October 24, 1922 – October 26, 2020)
We celebrate the life of James Vincent Falco and announce his passing on Monday October 26, 2020. Jim died peacefully at home, two days after his 98th birthday.
Jim was the loving and beloved husband of Joyce (née Brook) for over 65 years. He was a much loved and admired father of eight children; Leonard (Debby), James (deceased) (Tanis), Mark, David (Loretta), Christopher (Anna), Barbara Kazemi (Reza), Elizabeth (Joseph) and Paul (Sandy); proud Grandpa to eighteen grandchildren, Benjamin, Katelyn (Greg), Jim (Nancy), Steve (Terri), Carolann, Victoria, Allison, Dylan, Samantha, Graeme, Julia, Laura, Yasmin, Mina, Cyrus, Julia N., Timothy and Kelly; five great-grandchildren, Jason, Emma, Jonathan, Melanie, Angelica, Hannah and Nicholas.
Predeceased by his older sisters Mary, Janet, Theresa, Nancy & Carmela and his younger brothers Steve, Louis, and Joseph, he will be fondly remembered by his sister Grace Falco Chambers as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
As the eldest son of a Sicilian immigrant, James was a hero in the eyes of many that shared life with him. Even though he ended his education in grade 8 to support the family cheese business, Jim was a life-long learner. To us, he seemed to be a doctor, lawyer, chemist, engineer, chef, musician, artist and dancer. Most importantly, he was a teacher. Along with Joyce, he taught us all what is important in life: to be curious, courageous and kind, and to have fun along the way.
James was a true entrepreneur and led a family partnership in two successful businesses, Ontario Rendering Co. and Dundas Valley Foods. His dedication and ingenuity created a successful and supportive working culture. During this time, he also enjoyed the country life, raising his family on a hobby farm in Lynden, imparting his children and grandchildren with a love of animals and a sense of shared responsibility.
It’s been said that a hero is not an extraordinary person but rather an ordinary person who does something extraordinary. Jim is not a hero for what he achieved, building a successful life from scratch, dabbling in almost every profession with persistence, passion and integrity, but he is a hero for caring for us all with his ever-present love. And because he had done what he had set out to do – leave us with a legacy of love, not just in words, but through action, by valuing the inherent dignity of every person. Whether friends or family, we all remember the muffins, the soups and other goodies coming out of his kitchen right up to his advanced frailty, nourishing our hearts and souls. We all remember his wise one-liners that made us feel special, letting us know that we mattered. Even near the end, he still showed his endearing sense of humour and his love by holding our hands in his letting us know that he is okay, is guided by his faith, and that there is no need to worry as he had lived a good, long life.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Rittu Singh, Dr. John Kelton, Dr. Christopher Patterson, Dr. Amin Mulji and PSWs Flora, Nida and Genevieve, who along with many others supported Jim over the last few years.
Many thanks to The Reverend Mike Deed and The Reverend Canon Peter Davison for leading a beautiful service for immediate family that took place on October 29 at St. James Anglican Church, Dundas, and interment at The Grove Cemetery in Dundas.

MORAN, Leslie Ann October 16th 1945 – October 26th 2020
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Leslie at home with her family by her side on October 26th 2020 at the age of 75.
Loving wife of Dennis, dear mother of Darrick (Tracey), Meagan (Tyler), Colleen (Jake), cherished Nana of Sydney, Indigo, Freya, Jase, Cole and Great Grandma to Avery, all of whom she loved greatly and was sincerely proud of. Predeceased by her beloved son Brian, her parents Les and Eileen Sharman and her dear sister Sylvia. Leslie will be surely missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbours.
Her love for her family knew no bounds and we are certain that her son Brian and the family were there to greet her as she began her new journey. With all of our love to our wife, mommy, nana, grandma and aunt, until we meet again!
Special thanks to Mani and the Juravinski palliative care team, Mui and the Bayshore staff and Judy and the staff at CBI for their compassionate and thorough care.
A very special thanks to her bother-in-law Bruce and her sister-in-law Louise, for their loving support and efforts in assisting Leslie in fighting her battle with cancer.
As per Leslie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held and when COVID restrictions allow, a celebration of life will take place at a later date to allow family and friends to share stories and affections.

Passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020 at Juravinski Hospital in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Denise for over 63 years. Loving father to Carolyn (Roger) Press and Judy (Mark) Empey. Caring grandfather to Robin, Eric, Brigitte, and Julia. Survived by his sister Thelma Miller. Rod was a creative soul. As a talented life-long artist, his work often depicted family life and nature, and his annual Christmas cards were treasured by loved ones. He was also an avid gardener, proud of the beautiful oasis he and Denise created in their own backyard. Special thanks to the oncology team at the Juravinski Hospital for their outstanding care. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Passed away peacefully at Innisfree Hospice surrounded by his family on Monday, October 19, 2020 in his 84th year. Loving father to Dawn Becker. Caring grandfather to Jessica. Brother to Elwood (Betty) of Florida, Kenneth (predeceased) of Hamilton, and Sandy (predeceased) of Michigan. He will also be sadly missed by the “Breakfast Club” and all those who knew him. Predeceased by his partner in life, Donna Godfrey. Frank was an avid car enthusiast and Race Car Driver. Donation can be made in memory to Innisfree Hospice or your local SPCA.

Naismith , Shirley Elaine (nee Woodward) – remembered by her sons Peter and John her loving friends, predeceased by her husband Ian and her parents William and Ethel Woodward. She will be missed by all of us including her Gourmet & Coffee groups, those at St. James’ Dundas, and St. Georges Benevolent Society. Shirley passed quietly at 8 pm. 20 Oct 2020, in the presence of her boys at St. Peter’s Palliative Care. Shirley was an early career woman hired by Lady Eaton for Eaton’s, then Bell Canada and later Long Sault Woodcraft where both She & Ian held “Secret” clearance for working on the DEW line for Norad, USA. While her boys were in school she wanted to be available to them, but still wanted to contribute so she dedicated herself to volunteering: Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke, Boy Scouts, Information Dundas and Meals on Wheels . Through their dedication Ian & Shirley were awarded Dundas Citizen of the year 1991. They both received the 125th Anniversary of Confederation of Canada Commemorative Medal. The boy’s independence sent her back to work in retail, Hi Lo fashion, Just Dresses, Irene Hill and Laura’s retiring at the age of 83. Thank you to everyone who sent her their love in her final days and for the excellent care at Juravinski Cancer Center and St. Peter’s Palliative. Friends will be received by the family on Friday evening from 6-8 and Sunday afternoon from 2-4 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas .
