It is with heavy hearts that we share that Don passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones by his side. He is predeceased by his loved and loving wife Jo-Ann (2003) and son Mark (1995). Dearly loved and remembered always by his daughter and son-in-law Meredith and Colin Kelly; grandchildren Breanne and Grant; and partner Kathryn Burton. Don will be deeply missed by his sisters Vicki Onusko (John) and Stephanie Nestegard and is predeceased by sisters Mary Griffin (Al) and Liz Houle (Norbert/Bert). Many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends and neighbours will remember him with love. Don was a long-time employee of the City of Hamilton, and active member of the Dundas Granite Curling Club; the Dundas Cactus Golf Club and a Tuesday golfing group at Knollwood. Don was also the Past President of the Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists; Past President of the Canadian Association of Speech Language and Audiologists and a member of the Westdale United Church. The family extends their thanks to the doctors and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and the McMaster Family Practice for their care and compassion. Friends will be received on Monday afternoon and evening from 2-5 and 7-9 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Don’s Service will be held at Westdale United Church, 99 North Oval, Hamilton on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. On November 14th, Susan Gregoroff passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, which she fought with courage, dignity, and grace. She was a loving mother to Matthew and Emmeline and a devoted wife of 42 years to Tim. She was an adored sister of John and Bill, treasured daughter of Jim and the late Beatrice, and was loved and cherished by many family and friends. Susan worked in healthcare for 38 years, beginning as an RN at Hamilton General Hospital and retiring from Cambridge Memorial Hospital as Vice-President, Clinical Programs and Chief Nursing Executive. When she wasn’t working, and in her retirement, she was an avid seamstress and she created many beautiful items of clothing for her family, as well as beautiful quilts. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all who were privileged to know her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 2-4 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Fredrick Johnston, sister Helene Burnie, brothers Joel Hartwell and Ken Hartwell. Survived by her sister Phyllis Murphy; children Jim Johnston (Dale), Kenneth Johnston (Cheryl), Terry Johnston (Kathy); grandchildren Asha, Travis (Monika), Chad, Nicole (Justin), Melissa (Justin), Cody, Rebecca (Brian), Rachael (Sloan); and great-grandchildren Patrick, Ella, Alitheia, Lincoln, Laikyn, Lacey and Gibson. A resident of Dundas her entire life, Marjorie was a member of the Dundas Baptist Church and participated in water aerobics at St. Joseph’s Villa for many years. Marjorie was a long-time supporter of the Salvation Army and Mission Services, always taking the time to think about the less fortunate especially around the holidays. Marjorie will always be remembered as being a devoted sports fan, always cheering on the hometown teams, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Maple Leafs, the Blue Jays and Team Canada. The time, love and devotion she showered her family with was especially apparent with her great-grandchildren; they were truly so very special to her. May you rest in peace – you will be dearly missed.

Passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late George (2008). Loving mother to Andy (Crystal) and Mike (Jamie). Caring Babcia (grandmother) to Logan, Kaedan, and Madison.
Val was a retired teacher with the HWDSB and had many rewarding years as a teacher at Queen Mary primary school. She was an active member at Erskine Presbyterian Church involved with the Women’s Missionary Society, Mildred Gehman and other outreach efforts. Val grew up in Mauston Wisconsin on the family farm with her mother Helen and started her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse just outside of town. She still visited the area each year with her family to visit with old friends and former students who she remained close with. After moving to Hamilton, she began teaching with the HWDSB and met and married George, a firefighter with the Hamilton Fire Department. Travel was an important part of the annual family vacation plans, and they took their two boys in the family car for extensive road trips across Canada and the USA each summer, a lot of books were read and road trip games played together in the car. Later in life Val still enjoyed traveling and went on bus trips and cruises in Europe with her close friends, she was very grateful to have such good friends to spend this time with. Val’s last years were focused on spending time with friends and her grandchildren and she was able to remain very active attending hockey games, plays, concerts, going on family vacations, and helping to take care of Madison. She was so happy to be able to be so involved with her grandchildren. Valerie will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

It is with immense sadness and a profound sense of loss that our family announces the unexpected and sudden passing of John Larry Orct, at the age of 59, on Wednesday November 2, 2022.
John deeply loved and lived for his family. He will be eternally reunited with his father, Lloyd. He was a beloved son to Ann and will be forever loved and cherished by his sister Barb (Gord) and brother William (Milena). John was a very proud and devoted uncle to his four nephews Lloyd, Matthew (fiance Lisa), Brandon and Ryan who will forever feel his absence in their lives. John was the loving nephew of Nick (deceased) and Mary Jurilj and John and Gail Orct. His kindness will be fondly remembered by his cousins, extended family and close friends.
While growing up, John found that he loved what his parents did for a living and also chose to follow the path to farming. Even though he never worked 9am to 5pm and was always on “stand by”, he could never imagine a life worthwhile doing anything else. He remained a motivated and passionate Farmer up until the day before his passing.

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Brent Anthony Pope of Copetown/ Hamilton, Ontario. Brent was a Professional hockey player with an International resume. He was a sought-after defender on both sides of the Atlantic, and he became a well-respected player and coach for a number of Super league clubs in the UK. This included the Nottingham Panthers, London Knights and the Cardiff Devils. After his retirement from the sport, he went onto sports management, becoming Managing Director at the Cardiff Devils.
A man of many talents, Brent’s rich, infectious and enthusiastic voice enabled him to enjoy a successful career as a highly acclaimed sports commentator, working for the BBC at the Turin, Vancouver and Sochi Olympic Winter games. Brent went on to work directly for the Olympics as a commentator for the Rio de Janeiro summer and Paralympic games as well the Winter Olympic and Paralympic winter games in PyeongChang.
Brent passed on the 1st of November after a short, but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 49. He leaves behind his loving wife Fegie, 3-year-old son Arthur and 8-month-old daughter Felicisima, Mother Ann, Father Dan (passed 2016), brother Dan, sister Tracey, brother-in-law Alan, niece Gwen, and nephew Aidan.
For those wishing to pay last respects to Brent, there will be a graveside service on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 1p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Copetown. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2-4pm at the Copetown Community Centre, 1950 Governor’s Rd, Copetown.
