September 11, 1921 – December 10, 2013

bill_kelly 001Kelly, William Elwood –  Bill was a long time resident of Dundas and passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, December 10th 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital.  He has made the journey to be with his long time love Mary (predeceased January 5, 2010),  Missing him are his children, John (Rose Marie), Brian, Catherine (Paul) Castellan and Becky (Ralph) Meyer.  Bill had 6 grandchildren, Michael (Mindy) Kelly, Shannon Kelly, Erin (Dan) Exley, David (Suzy) Castellan, Nicholas Meyer, and Chelsea Meyer.  He will also be missed by 5 great grandchildren, Emma and Aiden Castellan, Lara and Zoe Exley and Ashlynn Kelly.  Dad was a WWll Veteran serving in the R.C.A.F.  He was very proud of his time in the service and shared many stories with family and friends. He was the Past President and long time member of the Hamilton Air Force Association, a very talented artist and woodworker.  His creations never ceased to amaze.  Many thanks to the nurses and doctors of 8S at the Hamilton General for their care and patience with our dad,  the wonderful staff of Bertram Place as well as the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital with a special thanks to Megan for holding his hand while he passed.  Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, December 17th from 10 a.m. until the Celebration of Bill’s Life at 11 a.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, donations to The Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.

Rosamond, Gwendolyn (nee Leyland)

Rosamond, Gwendolyn May (nee Leyland) – Peacefully at Shalom Village in Hamilton on December 11, 2013 in her 91st year.  Beloved wife of the Late Alf (1981).  Dear mother of Brian (Margaret, 2010) and Bob.  Loving grandmother of Kevin and Jennifer (Joel) and great-grandmother of Meghan, Kyle and Paige.  Dear sister of George.  Predeceased by parents William and Maude Leyland and brother Bill.  Many thanks to all the staff and her friends of Shalom who cared so much about her.  Cremation has taken place.  At Gwen’s request there will be no funeral service.  If desired, memorial donations to the charity of your choice is appreciated.

Hammond, Louie “Lou” – Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 8, 2013, nine days before his 95th birthday. Beloved husband of Betty Hammond for 68 years. Loving father to Neil Hammond (Isabel), Heather Saunders (Wayne), and Jean Dingwall (Michael). Cherished Grandpa/Papa to Andrew (Nora), Diana (Victor), Scott, Ryan and Lindsay (Alex). Great-grandpa to Patrick and Declan. Rohrmoser, Joachim “Yogi” – It is with great sadness that the family of Joachim Rohrmoser announces his passing. Joachim died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the age of 62 years, peacefully with his family at his side. He is survived by his brothers Karl (Pat), Fred (Debbie), Martin (Evelin) and his sisters Kerstin (Doug) and Elke. He is predeceased by his parents, Hans and Ilse Rohrmoser, his brother Uwe and his sister, Dagmar. Dear uncle to Colin (Gina), Lara (Steve), Tanya, Erik (Jessica), Kyra (Matt), Deirdre (Allan) and Clayton (Bethany). Great-uncle to Connor, Blake, Jonathan, Timothy, Gavin, Jacob, Ryan, Madelaine and Patrick. Yogi, as he was known by his many friends, workmates and family, will be missed by all. Special thanks to the staff and doctors at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton for their loving support and care. Cremation has taken place.

adams_sarah_photo 001ADAMS, Sarah (nee Local) – Peacefully at Wentworth Lodge on December 5th, 2013, shortly after her 99th birthday. Beloved wife of the late William (1962). Loving mother of David (Linda) and Gail Poole (Wayne). Proud grandmother of Douglas (Cindy), Patricia, Erin and Ryan (Giada). Great-grandmother to Sean & Brendan. Step great-grandmother to Erin, Andrew and Stephanie; step great-great-grandmother to Emmalie. Loved by her many nieces and nephews. Sarah was a devoted member of St. John/St. Andrew Presbyterian Church for over 70 years. She enjoyed travelling, golfing and lawn bowling, but most of all she enjoyed her family and friends and gave generously of herself to both. Sarah’s quiet dignity, gentle manner and wisdom will be missed. Cremation and a private service have taken place. A celebration of Sarah’s long life will take place on January 18th, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 23 Melville Street, Dundas. The family would like to thank the staff of Beech Ave. – Wentworth Lodge and Dr. Johns for their care and compassion, especially in Sarah’s final days. Groth, Wanda (nee Bluemke)

Groth, Wanda – (nee Bluemke) in her 91st year, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on November 30, 2013.  Preceded by her dear husbands (Rudolf Brucker, World War II) and Otto Groth. Dear mother of Trudy Kastrau (Hamilton); Hilda Krueger (Klaus) (South Carolina); Rosemarie Goos (Jim) (Pembroke) and the late Bernard Groth. She will also be missed by her sisters Emma Hapke (late Edward), and Rosamund Schachtschneider (late Robert) and sister-in-law Natalie Bluemke (late Ewald). She was a wonderful Oma to seven grandchildren and an Urgross-Oma to eight. Wanda will also be missed by many in Canada, United States and Germany. Friends will be received by the family on Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where Wanda’s Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.  Interment Grove Cemetery, Dundas. Beloved husband of 57 years to Margaret and loving father to: Elizabeth (Gord Vandenbeukel) of Boston; ON, Ken (Jackie) of Guatemala; Marlene (Harry Leegstra) of Brantford; Robert (Hope) of Campbellford; Yvonne (Albert Boekestein) of Dundas; Joanne (Evert Winkels) of Brantford and Eva (David Robinson) of Cambridge. Loving Opa to 32 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Hugo is survived by 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Predeceased by 3 brothers. winderjohn_photoWinder, John William (“DOC”) – Suddenly on Sunday, November 24, 2013 John passed away at home, now to be joined in the loving of arms of his wife Maureen  (2012).  Dearly loved and missed by his daughter Terry Winder-Sholer (John Sholer). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Joshua and Jamie (JJ) Sholer,  great-grandson Tyler Sholer, brother-in-law Ronald Hodgman (Louise) and nephews  Derek Hodgman and Bruce Hodgman (Tracey Starr). A very special thank you to Chantale LaRocque for her care and friendship over the past year.  John was a graduate from Bishops University in Lennoxville, Quebec.  He was employed as a Chemist at Firestone for over 20 years.  Proudly he was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Dundas Valley Lodge for over 50 years.  Friends will be received by the family on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where John’s Service will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00.  Masonic Service 9:00 p.m. Friday night following visitation. Charman, Thomas Andrew “Tom”

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Andrew Charman, in his 56th year, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on November 18, 2013. Beloved son of the late John D. (Jack) and Carolyn Ann Charman. Also predeceased by his sister Carol and nephew Anthony. Loved brother of David (Susan) and best friend to his sister Sue Church. A treasured uncle to Gary Church (Lisa), Chris (Selena), Jennifer, Shanne (Ty) and Beau Barrett. Special great-uncle to his numerous great-nieces and nephews. Tom will be greatly missed by all of his family as well as his extended family at the Good Shepherd McGinty House where he resided. Tom was well known for his great love of fishing and his kind and thoughtful demeanour towards everyone he knew.  The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Good Shepherd McGinty House, as well as the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital Unit A-2 and the St Joseph’s Emergency department.
