Shaver, Dorothy Irene (nee Dunnett) – entered into rest peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Clinton Shaver (deceased) and forever cherished by her daughters; Janet Perka(Patrick), Patricia James (Murray), Deborah Gray (Craig),and her son Randy; 13 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Daughter of Arthur and Ethel Dunnett (deceased), sister of Keith (Joyce), Jim (deceased) Joan, June Powdrill (Tom) both deceased, Betty Mackie (Bob deceased), and Lennie (Charlene). Sister-in-law to Murray Shaver (deceased) Vera, Joyce Roung (Harry), and Barbara Dagg (Ronnie). Dorothy was a member of the Westover Baptist Church, where a Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held Friday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Westover Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family. Thank you so much Reverend Dr. Jamie Robertson for your love and spiritual care to our Mother.

Moser, Jean Elva (nee Traver) – at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, May 5, 2016, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Alexander (1994) and loving mother to Edie Moser and Joe (Diane). Jean will be sadly missed by her 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her sister Betty Donovan, her nieces and nephews, her caregiver Jim Budai and many friends. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday morning from 10 until the Service for Jean at 11 o’clock at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Interment to follow at White Chapel Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Wilson, Orval Walter – Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in his 94th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna in 2013.  Predeceased by his brothers and sisters.  Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, family and friends.  Friends will be received by the family on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Orval’s Service at 11:30 a.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Interment Mt. Mark_PeterMark, Peter – With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather who passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at home where he wanted to be on Friday, April 22nd. Predeceased by his loving wife Marion of 54 years.  He will be sadly missed by his son Terry, Randy (Kelly): grandchildren Rachelle (Gavin), Zach (Tamara) and Garrett and great-granddaughter Everly.  In earlier years Peter was called to duty, trained, uniformed and ready to serve his country from Camp Borden.  He was a mason and member of the Tuscan Lodge, No. 551 for 63 years.  In 1950 he owned and operated Mark’s Brothers White Rose Service Station at James and Burlington Street.  He also ran a home heating delivery service, Fuel Oil Supply Co.  They both developed a large following of customers and friends that had a great respect and trust for him for many years.  Our heartfelt appreciation and thanks are extended to Dr. Tracey Moriarity and staff of the Dundas Family Medical Group, the CCAC and VON of Hamilton, St. Elizabeth and PSW Caregivers, Emily and Justin.  A special mention to a long time independent Caregiver, Pricilla.  The care and compassion of each of you meant so very much to him.  A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at ST. JOSEPH’S VILLA CHAPEL, 56 Governor’s Road, Dundas, on Wednesday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m.  Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Milton Oakville Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

McDermott, Jane (Betty Jane)

November 18, 1938 – April 18, 2016

McDermott, Jane (Betty Jane) – Peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital, on Monday April 18th, 2016, in her 78th year. Predeceased by her parents Garfield McDermott and Innes Clayton McDermott Spence, step-father James (Jim) Spence, brother George McDermott and sister Madeline (Madge) Wilson Johnston.  Jane will be sadly missed by her many loving nieces, nephews and cousins and by her large group of close friends.  A high school French teacher for many years with the former Wentworth County Board of Education, Jane was also an avid artist and painter and spent many years as organist and choir leader at local Hamilton churches.  Friends will be received by the family on Friday evening from 7-9 and Saturday morning  from 9:30 until the Service for Jane at 10:30 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Donato, Josephine – Peacefully at The Willowgrove Long Term Care Home on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, one day before her 68th birthday. She will be sadly missed by her sister Verna Smith (Don) and her brother Anthony (Lillian), extended family and all who met her. Josie was a past member of the Hamilton & District Association of Community Living. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday evening from 6-9 and Friday morning from 9-9:45 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral at ST. Jackson, Muriel Eileen – passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12th at the age of 85-years-old. Predeceased by Herbert and Janet Auliffe, her husband William (Bill), siblings Ross, Carl, Ken, Faye and Joyce.  Dearly loved by her sons Bradley (Michelle) and Kevin (Sharon) and daughters Patricia Jackson and Pamela McDermott (Michael); grandchildren Karmon, Shannon (Jamie) and Spencer and great-grandchildren Brooke, Rhett, Madelyne and Zander.  Muriel’s tenderness, strength, selflessness, beauty and grace are missed by all, but never forgotten.  She will be remembered for her elegance and her zest for life.  A celebration of Muriel’s life will be held Thursday, June 9th, 2016 where friends will be received by the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Muriel’s Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  If you wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Haynes, Reverend William “Allison” – in Hamilton on April 6, 2016. The “Rev”, born November 18, 1931 in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Survived by his wife Alicia Rae Haynes, and his children Lorne (Marilyn), Meridene (Jim), Patricia, Lynette (Bob), Harold (Gloria), Chris (Kathy) and Bethany. Sadly missed by his 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He joined the Salvation Army Training College in Toronto in 1951. In 1952 he was commissioned a Salvation Army Officer where he served the Word of God for 7 years. In 1960 he began his studies at Queen’s University receiving his BA in 1964 and BD in Theology in 1965. He was ordained a minister in the United Church of Canada in Kingston in May 1965. He served numerous congregations throughout his 50 years of service. His mission in life was reflected through his characteristics of love, dedication, faith and grace. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Allison’s Life on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock at CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 165 Charlton Ave, West, Hamilton. Cremation has taken place. Howlett, Lenore (Lee-Marie) – November 16, 1928 – April 1, 2016 – Mom left us peacefully on Friday April 1, 2016. Reunited with husband Ralph and children Jamie, Greg and Marlene. Left to mourn, children Dave (Kathy), Deric (Merry), Patti (Royal) and six grandchildren. Mom was a well respected seamstress in the town of Dundas for over 30 years. With respect to mom’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place later in the spring. We will have a Celebration of Life in the near future. Special thanks to Blackadar Continuing Care and to Sandra for being there for mom. It is with extreme sadness that I announce the sudden and unexpected death of my beautiful husband Richard Herod on Monday March 28th while vacationing in Florida. Deeply Mourning his loss are his wife Cathy, son David (Nadine), daughter Mary and his four beautiful grand-kids, Emily, Reid, Grace  and Dre who absolutely adored him.  Also left to mourn are his sister and brother-in law Deb and Bob Walters, grandson Michael, daughter Lisa and brother Brian (Jane).
