Reverend Canon Brian E, Shoesmith, BA.BTh,M.T.S.

“The Rev” is no more. He has ceased to be. Bereft of life, he rests in peace. He’s kicked the bucket, hopped the twig, bit the dust. He’s snuffed it. He’s not pining, he’s passed on. Expired & gone to meet his maker to preach atop the great pulpit in the Sky.
Thrice he sired: Geoffrey (anon.); Margaret (favorite son-in-law, Deep); Laura Howarth-Joseph (favorite daughter-in-law, Lynsie). Adored grandpa of Anu, Rayna & Lily. Husband to Margaret, Youngest brother of Ken (Gloria), Barbara Mary (Bill), Gil (Cheryl) and beloved Son of Jack & Gladys (long since passed).
The life of Brian will be celebrated in person and on YouTube, Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ’s Church Cathedral. 252 James St. North, Hamilton ON. Full Communion. Nothing too preachy, and some bits about Heaven, Hell and everlasting life. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the church, interment to follow at Christ Church Flamborough.
In lieu of flowers, please send gold, frankincense, or donations can be made “Christ’s Church Cathedral” and will be allocated to feed the hungry. Don’t worry too much about the myrrh. . .

Bob passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022, in Dundas, Ontario with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Lorraine (nee Clark) for 67 years. Loving father of Rob (Sheila) and Marcia (Jeff). Dearly loved grandfather of Allison (Matt), Thomas (Hannah), Heather and Jesse (Dee). We will all miss him dearly.

Bob was born in Toronto and grew up in the Beaches. He moved to Sarnia in 1958 with Lorraine to raise a family and enjoy a successful career with Dow Chemical. He and Lorraine spent their retirement years in Ottawa, enjoying adventures big and small, before moving to Dundas last Fall.

Bob had a great sense of humour and a generous heart. He was a good man who was liked by everyone who knew him. Bob was also a faithful supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays & Toronto Maple Leafs, in good times and bad. He hopes they will be able to manage without him.

Bob’s family wishes to thank the health care providers at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Home & Community Care Support Services, and Amica Dundas for the compassionate care they provided our wonderful husband, father and grandfather in the final weeks of his life.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no services.
