White, Peter Samuel – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Dearly loved husband of Dana. Loved and cherished by his son Chadwick (Melissa) of Millbrook and daughter Lori White (Chuck Barton) of Hamilton; sister Joan (Ron Belmore); brother Brian; grandchildren Nicholas, Jacob, Sammy, Chloe; brother-in-law David Van Aman (Marjorie Wahlman) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Michael and sister-in-law Anne. Peter was a member of the RCL, Branch #36 in Dundas. A special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s ICU for all their compassion and kindness during this difficult time. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Legion Service at 7:00 p.m.) at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where Peter’s Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. MacFarlane, Inez – Slipped away on Thursday February 27th — her daughter at her side. Loving wife of the late Wilson MacFarlane Jr. (1993) and mother of Arlene MacFarlane-VanderBeek (Peter VanderBeek). Cherished grandmother of Christoffer VanderBeek (Ashley), Lindsay Palmer (Stephen Jr.) and Jonathan VanderBeek (Kirstie Akitt) and great-grandmother (“GG”) of Jackson & Olivia Palmer and Brycie VanderBeek. She will be missed by her brother, Stewart Brown (Jean) of Kentville, Nova Scotia. Inez owned and operated the former Dundas Office Supply Ltd. for nearly 40 years, in downtown Dundas. A service will be held at the Cattel, Eaton and Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 8th. Visitation to precede the service from 1:00 pm. A private family interment will follow at a later date. Donations to the Dundas Museum and Archives or Dundas’ Routes Youth Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Simpson, Harold Neil – Peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Husband and best friend to Frances for 67 years. He will be dearly loved and missed by his daughters Donna (Dave McRae), Ruth and Barb (Tim Christianson); his sister Dorothy McEachern; grandsons Peter and Paul Christianson (Sandra); great-grandsons Kyle and Tyler. Predeceased by his brothers Earl, Bernard and Ralph. Harold was a member of the Air Force Squadron in WWII. He enjoyed square dancing, photography, gardening and especially all his canine pals. A special thank you to Christina Paradela for her compassion. In keeping with Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Harold’s Service will take place at ROCK CHAPEL UNITED CHURCH, 451 Rock Chapel Road, Dundas on Thursday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Rock Chapel Cemetery. If you so wish, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

McMillan, Alan Gordon – Retired TTC employee, passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, with his heart still at home in Haliburton. Beloved husband to Catherine, loving dad to Nadine, Joanne (Jim) Richardson, David.

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Martin James McGrath, after a long and hard battle with cancer on Saturday, Febraury 15th 2014. Beloved husband of 39 years to Sylvia (McManus) and loving father to Megan (Dave Randell) and Colleen. His family was by his side when he passed. Many cherished memories of happier times will be shared by those who knew and loved Martin. He will also be remembered by his sister Mary (Tom Niggemann) and brothers Gerald (Suzanne Davidson) and Kevin (Patricia Mahoney) sister and brother-in-law Charlyne and Paul Carrier, and many nieces, nephews, their spouses and grand-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Irene and Gerry McGrath and sister Ursula (Bill Boeh), and his in-laws Margaret and Tommy McManus. Martin taught for many years in Huntingdon, Quebec and Mildmay Ontario. He was involved in refereeing, hockey coach, scouts, Optimist Club and Christopher Leadership Courses. Friends will be received by the family, on Wednesday, February 19th in the afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A Graveside Service for Martin will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 620 Governor’s Rd. East, Paris, Ontario on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.

Gent, Duncan Stanley “Dunc” – Peacefully at Wentworth Lodge on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in his 89th year. Dearly loved by his wife Beatrice (Elkin); his sons Thomas (Marlene) and William (Leesa); grandchildren Michael, Nadine and Spencer and great-grandson Ethan. Predeceased by his first wife Nellie (1997) and sister Joyce Lord and her husband Stanley. Dunc was well accomplished; he began as a carpenter, apprenticing at the age of 14, learning old school methods which attracted people seeking out his expertise; he was in the Merchant Navy in WWII; was a long time member of St. James Anglican Church; was one of the founding members and member for 50 years of the Police Male Chorus; member of the Probus Club; member of the Masonic Lodge #593 and continued on in the 1950’s to be a Police Officer, retiring as a Sgt. from the identification branch (forensics) in 1984. He was an avid gardener, winning the JC and Trillium awards several times, enjoyed cottage life, fishing and the great outdoors. Friends will be received by the family on Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Dunc’s Service will take place on Saturday at ST. JAMES ANGLICAN CHURCH, 137 Melville Street, Dundas at 11:00 a.m. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
