Hand, Geraldine Phyllis Yvonne (nee Glen)

With great sadness we announce the passing of Geraldine (Gerrie) Hand in her 95th year at St. Joseph’s Hospital on May 1st, 2023. Loving mother to John and Lori. Loving youngest daughter of James and Janet Glen. Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph (Bennie), sisters Florence, Mae, Evelyn, Phyllis and Dorothy, and brother James. Geraldine was a secretary for Frid Construction, Hamilton, ON. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Hadcock and Dr. Andrew Healey for their care, and Dr. Maureen Meade and Dr. Deborah Cook for their kindness over the years. A private family funeral was held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas. Interment was held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Donations to a charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Young, Edward

It is with heavy hearts the family of Edward Young share his passing on May 2nd, 2023.

Ed was born in Belfast Northern Ireland where he met and married the love of his life Betty Young (nee Wilton).
Ed & Betty and their 4 daughters made Dundas home after immigrating to Canada in 1962.

Ed retired from Dofasco after 25 years. He then enjoyed a second career as a Pottery Technician with the DVSA.

Ed will be lovingly missed by his wife Betty, his daughters; Lorraine Gassner, Angela Young, Liz Young (Tony Naghten), Edlyn Young (Dave Gubekjian).

His grandsons; Edward Gassner (Delia Couto), Eric Gassner (Meghan Rosseel), Nigel Gubekjian, and his favourite granddaughter Ruby Gubekjian. His sister Ruth Mushing (the late Bill Mushing), his brother William Young (Carol), and all of our extended family here and in Ireland. Special thanks to Peter Gassner for his love and devotion.

Ed made lasting friends and memories everywhere he went. We know that they all join us in our grief and we thank them for words of tribute and support.

We would like to give much thanks and appreciation to the dedicated team at SV2 Goldblatt Shalom Village Hamilton. We will never forget your care and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, on Friday, May 5 from 4-7p.m. for a visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 1p.m. in the chapel.

Dr. Graeme MacQueen

Dr. Graeme MacQueen died at home in Dundas from cancer on April 25, in the loving presence of his wife and daughter, Sharon and Jessica. He leaves behind his brother Ken and sisters Meg and Lorna.
After graduating with a Ph.D. from Harvard, he joined the Dept. of Religious Studies at McMaster, where he taught Asian religion to thousands of students, being honoured for excellence in teaching by the McMaster Student Union. He established the Centre for Peace Studies, and was involved in peace-building activities in different war zones. After retirement, he dedicated his research to a critique of the foundations of the War on Terror. Graeme had friends all over the world, and was appreciated for his creativity, courage, and dedication to peace and justice. The family will hold a private memorial in celebration of his life.

Boyle, Eleanor (nee Lawson)

Eleanor Carol Boyle, 82, passed away at Fairfield Park Retirement Residence on April 27th, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease

Eleanor was born on February 6th, 1941 to Thomas Lawson and Pauline Lawson (Harrison). She was raised in Dundas along side her brothers David Lawson, Brent Lawson and her step sister Eleanor.

She remained in Dundas for the majority of her life, raising her son Scott McIntyre and daughter Lisa Boulton (McIntyre), working and retiring from McMaster University financial services and meeting Bert Boyle who she spent some of the happiest years of her life with.

Eleanor was someone who would always put others ahead of herself. During times of crisis, those in need could always rely on her. Family was always a priority to her and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss her deeply.

Services will be held at Grove Cemetery in Dundas, May 2nd at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Parkinson Canada

Parliament, Mary Helen (nee Gibson)

Parliament, Mary Helen (nee Gibson) – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of Roger and loving mother to Doug (Debby) and Bob. Grandmother to Mark, Mike, Thad, Adam and Alana and great grandmother to Tyson, Rylee, Kamryn, Tanner and Kenzie. Predeceased by her 3 brothers; Jack, Gord and Bruce. Mary was a longtime member of St. Mark’s United Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Edgemount Chapter, and the Probus Club of Dundas, Friends will be received by the family on Monday evening from 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. The Funeral for Mary will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s United Church, 1 Lyndale Drive, Dundas. Interment Grove Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
