It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Traver (Groen) on Friday December 19, 2025 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom Traver, who passed away in October 2024. She is survived by her children Tyson (Brittani), Brittney (Trevor) and her grandchildren Bryson, Brady and Colton. Beloved daughter to the late Irene and Andy Groen, and cherished sister to John and Judy. Sue was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her family, she will be deeply missed by her lifelong friends Wilma, Jaap, Sanne, Veerle, Jesse and Kai in Holland, whose friendship spanned decades and meant the world to her and Tom.
Throughout her life, she showed unwavering love and dedication to her family, friends and the community. Sue worked for the Ancaster Senior Achievement Centre in Alberton for over 20 years. She dedicated a lot of her time volunteering in the kitchen for the Ancaster Agricultural Society at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Sue was a member of the Lynden Horticultural Society and was known for her beautiful flower gardens.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Juravinski Cancer Centre as well as Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas where she spent her final moments in peace. Tyson and Brittney would also like to thank their cousin Amy for her unwavering support, love and care throughout their mom’s fight.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 30th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, in Dundas.

Dear Tyson, Brittani and Colton,
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. it is very difficult to lose one parent but both in such a short time and still so young it must be overwhelming. Hopefully all your treasured memories will help you through your grief. Ive been thinking of you guys a lot in this past year and will continue to keep you in my thoughts. Sending you lots of hugs.
This is incredibly sad news.
I’ve known Sue my entire life. What a wonderful person she was. Although, we didn’t see each other often, when we did, it was always a bright spot in my day. Such a positive person.
She will be fondly remembered.
To her family, hold on tight to all the great memories.
Sue had a smile that would light up the room and we shared many laughs together. Someone so special will never be forgotten.
I have only known Sue during my short time working at ASAC but from my first interaction she was always so kind, funny and welcoming! She was always involved and cared so much about the people and building. I learned quickly how much her family meant to her and she always had a big smile when sharing her stories about them. I know it sounds cheesy but I truly believe no one is ever truly gone as long as they remain in your hearts and memories! Please accept my condolences and may she Rest In Peace and watch over you as a Guardian Angel!
Sue is a blessing and knowing her for many years I came to realize how special she was. The passion she had for her family and friends and the seniors at ASAC was incredible. Sue I will miss you and remember your beauty thanks for blessing my life ❤️
We have known Sue for 5 years now. She was a valued member or our kitchen crew at the fairgrounds. We all loved her for her kindness, generosity, and her desire to help wherever she could. Each one of us has something that we remember about Sue. I loved the way she laughed.
When we heard that her struggles were over, we cried. We had lost a valued member of
our “covid bubble”. I know that many of us were angry at the fact that she had fought so hard to beat cancer and still lost.
Sue was so much fun and the memories will keep her in our thoughts for a long time.
We extend our deepest sympathies to her children, grandchildren and siblings.
