It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce that he passed away peacefully at home on May 2nd, 2024, in his 95th year.
He was predeceased by his first wife Constance (Connie) Rumley nee (Cornell). Also predeceased by the following , his parents Lewis John (Clifford) Rumley and Alice Elizabeth (Bessie) Rumley of Silver Water, Manitoulin Island, his brother Clifford Leslie (Les) Rumley, sisters Cappy Bulley, Hazel Boyko, Geordie Berry and Florence Dinsmore.
He leaves behind his son Nelson Clifford Rumley and daughter in-law Corinne.
He will be sadly missed by his second wife Mary Rumley, stepdaughters Zella DeLamorandiere, Anna DeLamorandiere (Jamie) and Marilyn McLaughlin, his sisters’ in-law Irene Totten (Bob) of New Brunswick, Glenda McDonald of North Bay, Phyllis McDonald of Hamilton and Bill McDonald (Jr.) Toronto.
Sadly, missed by his granddaughter Mara Rumley (Justin) his step-granddaughter Cynthia Tilley (Matt), Marley Neill (Jarvis), Cody DeLamorandiere (Yanna), Jazlyn Bertrand , Courtney Duncan (Derrick) and two great grandsons Logan and Liam.
He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews from the West Coast, East Coast and the surrounding areas.
Grant moved from the Island at the early age of 17 to Dundas looking for work. He was hired and went to work for Snetsinger Lumber. He loved working with wood and was an exceptional carpenter. He then worked for Cashway, the Dairy Bar, delivering milk, he was then hired at the Hamilton Conservation Authority from where he retired. He thoroughly enjoyed his many trips back to Manitoulin Island and spending time at the cottage. He loved his hunting and fishing and had a many a good times with his son, good buddies and family and friends get togethers. He was also an avid golfer, pool player, softball, and enjoyed darts. He was a Legion Member of Branch 36 for over 50 years and received his 50-year pin in 2023. He enjoyed doing the Legion Turkey and Ham Rolls for quite a few years and Duffers Golf.
Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas on Thursday, May 9th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm for visitation. A service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 10th at 11 am. Interment to follow. It would be appreciated by the family that, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dundas Legion Br. 36 Poppy Fund or a Charity of your choice. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date at Dundas Legion.

Very sorry to hear of uncle Grant’s passing.
I remember him fondly when our families got together in Silver Water and the boys would head out fishing.
