It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Regan announces her peaceful passing on June 21, 2024. Beloved spouse of Jim for 50 years. Loving mother and best friend of Elizabeth. Adoring grandmother of Emma and Dylan Wade. Dear sister to Rosanne Alfano (James) and Nancy Jakabfy (Tom) and the late Frances Ciancone. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Shirley will also be missed by many dear friends.
Shirley was a dedicated and beloved teacher in Dundas and Waterdown for 35 years. She will be fondly remembered by her students. Shirley was truly remarkable. She could command a classroom with compassion, a wonderful shopping & travel companion, planned beautiful get-togethers and fiercely loved her friends and family.
A private funeral was held at Turner Family Funeral Home, interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and a celebration of life gathering at Royal Botanical Gardens on June 26.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Juravinski Hospital Hematology & Oncology and Margaret’s Place Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas, Ontario.
My sincere sympathy to Mr. Regan, Elizabeth and family. My memories of Shirley go back to a high-school trip to Italy, and babysitting Elizabeth! You are in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Liz Munro Hoyle
Shirley went about her teaching assignments diligently and effectively. Her impact on students was virtuous.
Sincere condolences to Mr. Regan and his family. His wife was one of the first teachers I met when I was just starting my career in teaching. She taught grade six masterfully and she was a definite influence as a mentor for me. May she rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to Mr. Regan, Elizabeth and family. Shirley was one of the first teachers who mentored me when I came to Dundana as a new teacher straight out of Teachers’ College. She was a very accomplished professional and her classes adored her. Rest in peace, Shirley.

It was just a year ago I ran into Shirley at the Dundas Metro. I was thinking of that day just last week, so I was shocked to learn today of her recent passing. To the extended Alfano and Regan families I offer each of you my sincere condolences for your loss. God bless.
My deepest condolences to Jim, Elizabeth & family on the recent passing of Shirley. I remember her being so patient with me the first time I babysat Elizabeth just after she was born. I’m sure Shirley was just as nervous as I was to leave her newborn for the first time, but she was gracious & supportive as always. I’m sure you also have many fond memories that can help you through this difficult time.
With sympathy,
Denise (Weaver) Anderson

My deepest condolences to Mr. Regan and Family. I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Regan’s passing. She was my grade six teacher at Dundana and she showed me great kindness during a very difficult and awkward time in my life. I will always hold a special warmth in my heart for her. May she rest in peace.
So saddened to hear of Shirley’s passing. I remember the collection of Neil Diamond LPs Shirley took out of a cupboard for me to play when I babysat Elizabeth back in the day. Shirley was always so thoughtful and kind and I’m sure must have had such a profoundly positive impact on her students and colleagues. May you all find comfort in your warm memories of Shirley.
My condolences to Mr. Regan and his family.
Although I have already left a condolence message I want Jim , Elizabeth,Nancy , Rosanne and the rest of the family to know how deeply Shirley’s passing has affected me. Although I hadn’t seen her for years I cherish the memories and impact she had on me .
May she rest in peace and her family know that the world is a better place because of her.
I had wonderful chats with Shirley closer to her end of life…What a beautiful, kind, lovely and patient person I witnessed. My sympathies to your beautiful family.
Fifty years ago I met Shirley on a few occasions. The first time was when Jim and Shirley were chaperones on a high school trip to Rome. I found her engaging, kind and open for some fun. I hold a fond memory of Shirley. I’m sure she positively influenced her students, friends and especially her family.
JIm, I hope life has treated you well over the years. May the memory of Shirley be cherished by you and provide you with strength on the road ahead.
