Vera passed away peacefully at Margaret’s Place Hospice on Friday March 29, 2024. Beloved spouse of Joe. Vera was born in Northern Ireland in 1936 and emigrated with Joe to Canada in 1960, where she raised and was a loving mother to Michelle and Sean. Vera was a proud and loving grandmother to Katie, Andrew, Eleanor, and Anne, and loving mother-in-law of Juan Carlos and Eileen. Dearly loved sister of the late Jack Todd, Harry Todd, Francis Tweedie, and Margaret Ford. We will be forever grateful for all the love, support, and care Vera received from her nephew Todd and his family and for all the kindness and love she received from the extended Todd and Palmer families. Also we have tremendous gratitude for the care, compassion, friendship, and love she received from her caregivers, Cyndi and her staff at Bertram Place. Vera was a talkative, artistic, and vivacious person, and will be missed dearly by all she touched and met. Donations in Vera’s memory can be gratefully made to Margaret’s Place Hospice. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Saturday, June 8th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a Celebration of Vera’s Life with food and refreshments to follow.
Michelle and Sean we were so sorry to hear of Vera’s passing. Joe and Vera were our good neighbours for over 30 years. We have many fond memories of both your parents. Whenever I visited your mom, she was always interested in hearing all the latest news about the neighbourhood. She also updated me on items of interest too! Kevin and I will miss her and will always remember how she loved to walk, her pets, her family and her grandchildren. Vera was fortunate to have lived a full life and for that we are sure you are grateful. We extend our sympathy to you and your family. Vera and Joe will always hold a special place in our memories. We hope to join you in June when you celebrate Vera’s life.
Sending Heartfelt condolences to Sean, Michelle, Todd, and families. I only knew Vera for a short time, but she will forever be remembered in my heart. I will miss her hugs.
Dear Michelle and Sean, so sad about Vera’s passing. The times we spent together were usually around the grandchildren we shared, birthdays, graduations etc.
She was always so vivacious , she enjoyed being with her family.
Rest in peace, dear Vera. Celebrating your life will be an occasion to evoque good memories.
Michelle and Sean, my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. Mothers are very special people and Vera was no exception. I have all fond memories of your family at the house on Sherwood Rise. Vera was always involved in something whether it was her pottery, tennis, badminton or family. Each time I make her cheesecake recipe I will reflect on her wonderful cooking, endless energy and good old Irish spirit!
Michelle, Sean and your families, we send our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mother. Auntie Vera was, in my memory, full of energy with a hardy laugh and “let’s go.. what’s next”. Family was everything and rightly so. God Bless.
Sending our sincere condolences to Michelle, Sean and your families. Todd you were a guiding light for your Aunt. I know we will miss her dearly. She was a big part of our lives. Vera and I were in badminton tournaments together and we both shared a love of tennis. We shared many laughs and caught each other up on our extended families living around the world. I will never forget her beautiful voice when she sang Danny Boy at my wedding. she brought the house down. Rest in peace. Give big hugs to Joe and my Mom and Dad and enjoy an Irish jig in the heavens .Love always
Andrea, Walt, Stefan and Paul Kuchar
