March 9, 1945 – Jan. 29, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudi on Jan. 29, 2022 with his wife by his side. Cherished husband of Waltraud, predeceased by siblings Brigita, Leon and Reinhold. Fondly remembered by sister Ilona and nephew Patrick of Germany, brother-in-law Jonas, nieces and nephews Edith, Bruno Lucy, John, Susan and Stephen as well as many great-nephews and nieces. He will be missed by friends in Canada, Germany and Sweden. He was born in Büsum, Germany, grew up in Lübeck, spent summers in Sweden and immigrated to Canada in 1968 where he met his wife, Waltraud. He will be remembered for his humour, infectious laugh and kindness to others. He was hard working and never backed away from challenges. Special thanks to Nurse Marion and the staff at Bob Kemp Hospice for their expert care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Waultraud and family..
I have worked at the Black Forest Inn over 40 yrs and never met anyone like him. When l started the girls told me he was their”gentle giant”. When I got to know him he was much more. He was thoughtful, kind, helpful and also very respectful to everyone. You would always be greeted with a smile or a handshake or even a hug if you were sad. His happiness and laugh made everyone smile. He became my “Big Brother” I will miss him ….
Dear relatives of Rudi! I accidentally discovered this website and so learn, that Rudi has left us! We both lived as children of refugees in the DP- Meesencamp! We have been for a long time very good friends- and you are right, he was a wonderful fellow. How that works in live, we moved to different areas, so that we saw each other less often!Later I accidentally learned that he emigrated to Canada.I won’t forget him!I wish your family all the best!
