June 15, 1936 – November 5, 2020
We celebrate the life of Derek Charles Boulter and announce his peaceful passing at Credit Valley Hospital on Thursday, November 5, 2020, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Earlon Burns (2018) and dear stepfather to Richard Bourgeois (Victoria) and Sandy Sandiford (Arthur). Loving grandfather to Alexander, Zoe, Matthew and Cora. Those who knew Derek, know he counted his marriage to Earlon as one of his greatest accomplishments. Although they met later in life, they enjoyed over 20 wonderful years together. She gave him the family that he had always wanted and together they enjoyed many cruises and saw much of the world together. Derek loved his adopted home-town of Dundas, ON. He was an active member of the community, whether it be taking part in local politics, coaching soccer, or leading the local boy scouts troop. Derek was the Southampton Saints (self-proclaimed) biggest fan. He would celebrate every win by wearing his cap and telling everyone about all the team stats. (The Saints finally came through for Derek with a big win on the date of his passing and topped the Premiership table for the first time in history – this would have made Derek’s day!). A special thank you to all the staff at Extendicare Mississauga for all their care and support. Derek’s wishes for a cremation, have taken place, and a small memorial gathering will take place at St. James’ Anglican Church, Dundas.
We remember Derek from his time at Binkley church. He was a helpful and kind Uncle Derek to our sons, a faithful cub leader and expert soccer coach. Our recent connection has just been through Facebook. Even with his critical pain and medical issues, he continued to express concern for others. We value our friendship with Derek. He appreciated his family’s care for him and we express our sympathy to them.

I had known Derek for many years, as a child i remember him both coaching and refereeing me in the DYSC. He was a great friend to my parents (Pam and Jim). The four of them (Earlon) took a great holiday to California that my Mum and Dad always raved about. I really enjoyed talking to Derek, telling me of his younger years, coming to Canada, his working years and of course the Saints..he loved that team. I’m sad to see him go, his last years were difficult, but he had devoted care and people that kept his spirits up. I’ll miss you Derek, God bless.

I have wonderful memories of Derek, the first one being when we arrived in Canada from England on September 11, 1974. He picked us up at the airport and showed us the ropes being newbie Canadian residents. Derek has always had a zest for life and even in his pain and suffering always asked about my family in England. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me he had taken up painting and from what he sent me he was really very good at it. I shall miss our telephone and email conversations. Rest peacefully Derek. Love Margaret, Vancouver Island.
So sorry to hear of Derek’s passing. As well as his family in Canada he was loved dearly by his family in England. I will miss you so much. You were, and always will be, in our hearts. Rest in peace Derek, love you.

Derek was a family friend for many years. I caught up with him after my mother passed away 5 years ago. He was a wonderful human being with a big heart. RIP
