July 27, 1935 – July 11, 2019
In his 84th year, peacefully at his home, Edward passed away on Thursday July 11, 2019. During his remarkable life, he influenced and motivated innovation. He was a Patent and Trademark Agent, with a long and distinguished career working for Westinghouse, G E Canada as well as his own practice. When he was not in his office, you could find him working on his fruit trees, vegetable garden or working on his Volkswagen cars. He was an active member in his community with Rockton Agricultural Society and a supporter of the Arts in Hamilton. Ed was a lover of music and sang for many years in the Burlington Welsh Choir and Canadian Male Orpheus Choir. Ed truly never recovered the loss of his wife, Frances Janet Oldham four years ago. He was the proud father of Kym, Scott, Heather (Doug) Spence and Charlene. His true joy, were his grandson’s, Gregory and Tyler Spence and Jacob Oldham. He was the son of Ewart and Margret Oldham, brother to Jean (Jella) Nauta and late sister Ruth (Ritchie) Swan. He was the brother in law to Bill Richardson, Noreen Richardson, Don and Lois Richardson and Peter and Laurie Sturm and many nieces and nephews. His last four years of life where supported by some very special people but most of all Mark Pangowish and Bernadette Gamboa. It is because of their help, support and love for Ed that he had such a great quality of life. Visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Tuesday July 16th from 2-4p.m. and 7 – 9p.m. Followed by a visitation on Wednesday July 17th at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 115 St Andrew’s Rd, Scarborough, at 11a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 12p.m.. Donations, in memory, can be made to Rockton Agricultural Society or the Kidney Foundation.

Passed away at Wingham Hospital on July 7, 2019, in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Yvonne (nee Coleman), and loving father to Donna Gibbs, Monique (David) Rimmer, Kimberley (Dave) Hicks, David (Alicia) Bradd and Roland Vaughn Scott III (Sheena) Knibbs. Vaughn will be sadly missed by his 18 grandchildren, and his newest grandbaby, named after him, Roland Vaughn Scott Knibbs IV, by his 8 great grandchildren, his brother Leslie (Beth), his nephews Scotty and Adam, his nieces Lodina and Gianna, and many special close extended friends here in Dundas and in NS. Vaughn was predeceased by his parents, Wenonah and Roland Knibbs, his first wife Donna “Judy”, and by his close friend Gerhard Stagmier. Vaughn was retired from NRay Services in Dundas. Vaughn was well known for being a big Roy Orbison fan, wearing black and dark sunglasses. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Vaughn will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Interment Grove Cemetery with reception to follow at the Cattel Centre. Expressions of sympathy to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Passed away at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on July 1st 2019 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Julie (nee May) for 38 years. Survived by brothers, Harry and Brian McIlroy. Father to Deborah Ann and John Merritt. Step-father to Kelly Rizzo and Matthew Rizzo. Grandfather to five grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Neil served with the Canadian Forces for 27 years, serving with 8th CH on retirement. Neil also served with the Fort Gary Horse Calgary and Lord Strathcona Horse. Neil was elected Chairman of the Board for the township of Restoule, ON, and served for approximately 8 years. He was an active member of the Restoule Lions Club and a former Mason in Toronto, ON. Friends and Family are invited to the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, Monday July 22nd from 2 – 3 p.m. with a Memorial service at 3 p.m., reception to follow. On July 1, 2019, embraced by his loving family, Frank Settimi of Dundas, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his 94th year after a courageous battle. Frank is survived by his beloved wife Adelia (Velenosi). Loving father of Ann Marie and Angelo Vecchi, Perry and Pieta Settimi. Most adored Nonno of Lisa and Dave Kowalyk, Julie and Billy Hall, Nicole Settimi, and Cathleen and Aaron Michon. Proud and cherished Nonno Frank of Anthony, Dylan, Sabrina, and Elena. Frank was born November 19, 1925 to Domenico and Assunta Settimi in Montefortino, Ascoli Piceno, Italy. Frank was oldest of 8 children; dear brother of Mario (deceased) and Maria Settimi, Giuseppe (deceased) and Rita Settimi (Italy), Laurina and Gino (deceased) Latini (Italy), Maria and Emilio (deceased) Cesarini, Pierina and Valentino (deceased) Pascucci, Ruggiero and Annie Settimi, Ottavio and Vincenza Settimi. Remembered by sisters-in-law Elisa Velenosi and Verniece Anderson-Pay. He served in the Italian Army and later moved to Canada in 1948 where, through mutual friends, he met his beautiful bride and wife of almost 65 years, Adelia (Velenosi) Settimi. In 1950, Frank began his career with Steetley Industries, whilst building his family with Adelia and raising their adored children, Ann Marie and Perry. Frank loved to spend time and create wonderful memories with his family and friends. He was an avid gardener who grew the most delicious raspberries, created the world’s best sausages and wine, and loved taking walks with his beloved cat MJ. We are blessed to have learned so many valuable lessons from Frank during his 93 years of life including how to pick apples the right way, to always wear a wide-brimmed hat in the sun, that dull forks are useless, to only eat corn if it’s fresh, to reuse your bread bags, and most of all to take good care of each other. We remember Frank as an independent, well-put together, warrior, who took his greatest pride in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We take comfort in knowing (as assured by his great granddaughter, Sabrina), that, although we cannot give him hugs and kisses now, Jesus will do it for us. Frank will be missed and forever loved by all those who had the pleasure to know him. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, July 4, 2019 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 12 noon at ST. JOSEPH’S VILLA CHAPEL, 56 Governor’s Road. Followed by a reception. Private family interment. If desired, donations on behalf of Frank can be made to Margaret’s Place Hospice or St. Joseph’s Hospital – Palliative Care. Lapierre, William Donald – Suddenly on Thursday, June 27, 2019, Bill passed away. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Theresa. He was a loving father to Kim (Ron) and loving grandfather to Matthew and Jace. Predeceased by parents Marjorie and Roger. Sadly missed by his brother Rick (Betty) and sister Denise (Dan). Loving brother-in-law to the Corsini Family. Bill will also be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, his great nieces and nephews, and his great friends at Pine Valley Park. Bill worked at Consumer Glass in Hamilton. Cremation has taken place, and a Private Family Celebration of Life has been held. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara on June 27th ,2019. Barbara was born on July 27th , 1943 and resided in Dundas her entire life. Mourning her loss are her children Anne Patterson (Jason), Laura Thomas (Michael), David Patterson (Carla), Sharon Little (Aaron) and six grandchildren Isaac, Jesse, Tyler, Ryann, Ethan and Owen. Barbara was predeceased by her husband John (2015) and daughter Marcia (1986). Barbara was one of eight children and is survived only by her sister Joyce Moore. Throughout her life Barbara relentlessly challenged the expected norms, going back to school in her late thirties to master computers she began a long career with the McMaster School of Nursing. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in her early 50’s, Barbara faced this challenge with the same tenacity as she did with all aspects of her life. She used her education and connections to establish the Parkinson’s List, one of the first global communication platforms for people with the disease. In 1999 she received the City of Hamilton Women of the Year award for her efforts. In 2005 she was honored in New York City by the Parkinson’s Foundation with a Humanitarian Award for her dedication & passion. Barbara had an amazing sense of humour, sarcasm and integrity that will be remembered and cherished forever. We would like to give thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s villa and to especially to Huegette, who kept our mom smiling every day. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas on Monday July 1, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.. Rankin, William Cahill “Callie” – In his 69th year, surrounded by his family, courageously on his own terms, William Callie Rankin passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. During his remarkable life he surrounded himself with the things that he loved the most, family, friends, and horses. In his legendary career training horses, he earned just over 3700 wins. Flamboro Downs was his home racetrack and it was here that he dominated the titles of trainer and driver of the year for nine consecutive years. He dedicated his life to the racing industry not only training, driving and owning but also passing his wisdom and advice to others especially with his blacksmith abilities. He put a smile on everyone’s face with a joke or a welcoming hug. One of his favorite racing memories was purchasing Brawn Seelster and proving that they were a winning combination. Born in North Sydney, NS to Peggy and Donald Rankin the importance of family was instilled in him his whole life. He made sure that his love for his sisters and brothers was always obvious and a priority. Predeceased by his brother Joey, survived by Sonny, Donna, Darlene, Mary Lou, Donnie, and Theresa. His wisdom, morals, and love were generously passed on to his daughters and their partners Jeanette and Lou Fazari, Jennifer and Daryl Blyth, Amber and Patrick Shepherd, Lindsay and Tom Lacroix. His teachings will continue to grow and be evident through his nine grandchildren Callie, Reese, Harleigh, Woodson, Jarvis, Chase, Keisel, Zachary, and Mason who he saw as his greatest achievement. He shared 47 years of happy marriage to the love of his life Brenda. He cared and loved her and cherished every minute they had together. He was one of a kind, the real deal and he will be dearly missed. Visitation is Tuesday, July 2nd at Turner Funeral Home at 53 Main Street, Dundas from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral will take place Wednesday, July 3rd at St. Augustine’s Church, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life to follow in Cape Breton this summer, details will be announced. Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on Sunday June 23, 2019 at the age of 83. Gwen will be missed dearly by Bill, her loving husband of over 61 years. Gwen was a wonderful mother to her daughter Rene and son Bill Jr. and a marvelous sister to her brother Jim. She will always be remembered fondly by her many friends and family. Rest in peace now, Gwen. Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will occur at a later date. Heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care Gwen received by the extraordinary staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. Paterson, Carol (nee Lomanto) Peacefully on June 20, 2019 in her 74th year. Predeceased by her husband Tom Paterson. Carol will be lovingly remembered forever and never forgotten by her daughters; Linda McVea (Joel) and Lisa Ciccarelli (Bob); her dear grandchildren Josh (Bronte) Bobby, Braxton and Bronwyn. She will be missed by Linda and Lisa’s Dad (Aldo). Carol will be fondly missed by her brothers and sister and their families, and all her dear friends. Carol loved her gardens, horses and animals. Joining her partner John Lisson, parents Valentine and Lilly Schneider, sister Greta Gale (Robert), brothers Albert (Anne) and George Schneider. Left to mourn are daughter Barbara Morelli (Steve), Margaret Butcher (Doug), brother Bill (Sandra), sister-in-law Ilse Schneider, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews in Germany, US and Canada. Cremation has taken place and a private family Service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
