With great sadness we announce Leo passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, May 25th, 2023.
Leo is survived by his cherished wife and best friend, Paula, who shared countless beautiful moments and memories throughout their lives together. He was a loving father to his son Steve (Francine) and daughter Cindy (Andrew). Leo’s devotion to his family was unwavering and he held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Adam, Steffi, Matthew, Nicholas and Nathan. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Karen, nephew Vincent, niece Laura (Brandon) and great nephew Isaac. He will also be missed by many family and friends.
He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and John, sister Marie and brother-in-law Romano. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the visitation and Celebration of Leo’s Life on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023, from 2-4 pm at the Turner Family Funeral Home located at 53 Main Street, Dundas, Ontario.
Leo was a proud graduate of the faculty of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) at Queens University, Kingston in 1959. He was an avid curler, golfer and Scotch connoisseur. He will forever be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, willingness to lend a helping hand and making a positive impact on the lives of those he touched.
The family would also like to thank the medical team at St. Joesph’s Hospital, CTU 5MG and the exemplary care and compassion he received from all staff, especially nurses Meghan and Josh. We will forever be grateful.
Died at his parents home on January 18th, 2023 in his 58th year. Loved son of Lanny and Diane Hiscock and sister Janice (Vikki). Predeceased by his brothers Wray and David. Keith will be remembered always by his aunt Donna (Wallis), Julie, Suzanne, Lisa and Laura. Keith worked for Hatts Off Inc for many years. Keith was a loving and caring person and was dedicated to serving the people in his care. He will be forever missed by his family and friends. Inurnment will take place on Monday, May 29th at 11:00a.m. at Jerseyville Cemetery.
Following a life well-lived, Ed passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton in his 96th year. Dedicated and beloved husband of over 60 years to Frederika “Rika” Grünthal (nee Van der Mey, d. 2018), loving father of Paul, cherished father-in-law to Lara, and very proud Opa of Emily and Monty. Predeceased by his elder sisters Lilli (Raud) and Leida Grünthal.
Under the orchestration of his father Karl and help of his Uncle, Edgar fled Estonia at the age of 17 to Sweden to escape Nazi conscription and the Soviet invasion. Following numerous jobs he became a deckhand on a cargo ship sailing from Sweden to Baltic and European ports until he received his immigration papers to Canada in 1949. He worked as a farmhand in Quebec, a lumberjack in Ontario, and an Able Seaman in British Columbia before reuniting with his father in Toronto. There they worked as handymen and enjoyed summers in Lake Simcoe where Ed met a pretty Dutch girl. They were soon married and settled down in Hamilton to raise a family. Ed, Rika, and Paul later moved to Dundas. “Steady Eddy”, his nickname at Stelco, was a Shipper/Receiver at Hilton Works in Hamilton for 32 years retiring in 1993 to enjoy the fruits of his labours and spend time with family. Ed was a true outdoorsman. He loved camping, boating, canoeing, cross country skiing, hunting and of course fishing. Many summers were spent smoking fish at Nine Mile Lake in Muskoka or camping and canoeing in Ontario’s Northland. He always welcomed you with a smile, a laugh, and apple cake if you were lucky. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. Edgar was a proud supporter of the Estonian community including: Estonian House (now KESKUS), The Estonian Foundation of Canada, Seedrioru Children’s Camp, Hamilton Estonian War Veterans, and was a member of the First Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Congregation.
Special thanks to the staff and friends at Aberdeen Gardens and St. Joseph’s Hospital 4th floor CSU Unit for their care and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas on Friday, June 2, 2023, reception 2-3pm, service 3-4pm. Family interment to take place at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to KESKUS International Estonian Centre in Toronto or to Ontario Nature.
GORD: Peacefully on May 25, 2023, in his 97th year.
Beloved husband of the late Jean Margaret (Cliff) (2016) Loving father of Barbara Coit (Donald), Dawn Marie Hart (Brian), Judith Birthelmer (Michael). Proud grandfather to Brittany and Brandon Hart.
Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Edna Hill, his son David, his brothers Leslie (Thelma) and Bruce and his sister Alvina.
A life-long resident of the Town of Dundas and long-time employee of Bell Canada, Gord was an avid baseball enthusiast and an active volunteer in the community his entire life.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Margaret’s Place Hospice for the excellent care provided to Gord during his stay. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our friends, everyone at the LIHN, Stay at Home Nursing, Paramed and the Palliative Care Team who helped Gord over the past months.
Expressions of sympathy to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. As per Gord’s wishes, cremation and a private burial have taken place.
Passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on May 22nd 2023 in her 65th year. Loving wife of 41 years to Don, and beloved mother of children Laura & Tara. Will be sadly missed by siblings Debbie (Don), Barry (Cathy), & Brian, and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Brenda is predeceased by her parents Peter and Irene Miller, and her brother Bob (Diane). Brenda was a friend and a listening ear to many, and her kind heart was a treasure to everyone around her, she loved her family and friends very much. A private celebration will be held for Brenda at a later date. We would like to thank our family and friends for their support and the nurses and doctors at Lynden Family Practice and Brantford General Hospital for their care and compassion.
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my brother Andrew William Watson on May 20, 2023 at the Dr Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton after a short battle with cancer.
Andy was born on November 28, 1955 in Toronto, Ontario. Andy was predeceased by his loving parents Gordon Watson and Joyce Watson (nee Webb).
He is survived by his sister Sara Bertie Crocker, Uncle Dave Webb, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Andy grew up on Finch Avenue in Agincourt surrounded by many of his family members. Andy was fortunate to have many of his cousins live close by, where they spent endless days happily playing together.
Andy was a loving, kind and gentle soul. Andy enjoyed visiting family and keeping in touch with his family and friends through Facebook. Andy enjoyed history, watching sports, playing cards, old movies and music. His favourite musician by far was Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed listening to Roy Orbison, Elton John and Willie Nelson. When Andy was a young man, he was the proud owner of a Corvette Stingray and a Trans Am.
The second half of Andy’s life was spent living and working in Hamilton. Andy made some very good friends which were like a second family to him. He spoke very highly of his dear friends, Sandra Molnar, Sarah Molnar, Shianne Molnar, Jeff Hogan and Nikki Rottenberg. Andy was often included in the Molnar family functions. His friends in Hamilton were very supportive during Andy’s illness.
Andy will be deeply missed by his sister and all his family and friends. Andy will be cremated and there is no service planned at this time. Donations in memory of Andy can be made to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton.
It is with great sorrow that we mark the passing of Alan Lawrence Macdonald. Alan passed away peacefully on May 16, at the age of 95. He was a loving husband to Patricia (dec) and father to Colin (dec), Doug (Ava Armstrong), Glenn (Donna Macdonald), and Scott (Marianne Yong-Macdonald). Alan was brother to Colin, Rod, Malcolm and is survived by his wonderful sister, Jean (Murray Cockburn).
He is Grandfather to Corinna, Benjamin, Adrienne, Heather, Margot, Mawgan, Malcolm, Kipp, Kiana and Naaman. And, he is Great Grandfather to Theodore, Emanuele, Isla, Harrison, Marlow, and Avalyn.
As one of our friends put it, “Al was a larger than life character.” He will be missed dearly. Special thanks to the caring staff at Idlewyld Manor.

It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Long announces his passing, with his family at his side, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on May 14, 2023. Dearly loved husband of the late Bernice Long and remembered with abiding love by children Janice and Jamie.
Born in Dunnville, to the late John Pratten Long and Alberta Regina (Nie) Long, Jack enjoyed the love of five older brothers: Bill, Fred, Chuck, Tom, and Don, all of whom predeceased him. Jack will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews and their families, as well as dear friends. Jack also leaves behind his adored cat, Victoria.
Jack began his career as a classroom teacher at the age of 19 and remained a dedicated educator for 36 years, teaching and supporting students as well as those who taught them. Jack’s generosity and kindness will be warmly remembered by many. Thank you to the teams at Amica Dundas and St. Joseph’s Hospital for your kind care and support.
It is with great sadness that the family of Gilbert Stewart announce his passing on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the age of 67. As he wished, he passed away in the home that he built, surrounded by his loving family.
Gil will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Brenda; children Anne and Andrew (Jamie); grandchildren Markus, Ethan and Alyssa; sister Kim (David) Roussel, nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
Gil was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Elizabeth; and his siblings, Barb (Danny) and Bob (Pat).
Gil loved spending time with Brenda and their family. He was a loving Grandpa (G-Pa) to his 3 grandchildren, whom he loved so much. Gil enjoyed spending time at the hockey arena, both playing hockey for 40 years and coaching for 25 years. He had a great love for fishing.
Thank-you to his family, friends and the many healthcare professionals for all of their support in helping Gil stay at home comfortably.
A private burial will take place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 1 pm- 4 pm at the Copetown Community Centre (1950 Governors Rd. Dundas, ON L9H 5E3). Spoken words and memories to be shared at 2 pm.

Passed away peacefully at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of the late Shelley Bodden (2010). Dedicated and loving father of his cherished Deanna and Melissa. Caring son to Edgar Bodden and his late wife Norma. Loved brother of Marilyn (Shaun) and Darlene (Henry) and sisters-in-law Julie and Kathleen. Predeceased by brothers Eddie (2022), Garry (Margaret) 2012 and Wayne (2019). Brother-in-law to Dale DeLottinville (Barb Eccles), Carol DeLottinville, Susie Castro (2021), Bob DeLottinville (2006), John (Karen) DeLottinville, Diane DeLottinville, April DeLottinville (2011). Rick will be missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was an avid sports fan, especially a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Red Wings and Nascar and could often be found cruising in his mustang. A music enthusiast, he was always listening to his tunes. Rick was born, raised and worked in Dundas and will be remembered by many life-long friends. He had so many amazing qualities that will be missed, including his great sense of humour. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at Juravinski Hospital, Cancer Assistance Program, Bayshore Healthcare, and Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.
