Mom passed away suddenly but peacefully, in the early hours of May 10th, 2023 at the age of 96 years young. She was just shy of her upcoming 97th birthday on July 17th. She is now reunited with her loving Husband Mel, and many Family and Friends that have gone before her. I can only imagine the jubilation experienced when they all meet again. Marjorie had a feisty personality which may have contributed to her longevity and she was mentally sharp right up to the end. Her Family was her whole world and she was an awesome Grandmother (Nan) and Great Grandmother. She leaves behind her son Brian, daughter in law Christine, and her daughter Colleen; her 4 Grandchildren, Julie (Ron), Jason (Nadine), Jamie (Jenn) and Matthew. She has 4 Great Grandchildren, Jesse (Cleo), London (Zach), Caleb (Brooklyn), Chelsey and Taylor. Minnie, her grand-dog, will miss the volume of treats given to her when visiting Nanny.
Many thanks to all those who looked out for Margie along the way. We know she really appreciated it. Special thanks to the kind and patient Paramedics who often visited Mom. You are truly Angels.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Turner Reception Centre (Cattel Centre), 45 Main Street, Dundas, ON. adjacent to the Funeral Home.
With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth May Ward (Stafford), in her 89th year, on May 2, 2023. Loving mother of Suzanne Weatherdon (Lindsay) and Nancy Gordon (Glen). Devoted Grandmother of Grange, Matthew, Julia and Gillian. Beloved sister to Michael Stafford (Huguette) and Cheryl Hanrahan. Predeceased by her brother Richard Stafford and sister-in-law Dene and brother-in-law Jim Blinkhorn.
Born on June 29, 1934 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Betty moved with her family to Dundas. She finished high school while scooping ice cream at the family store, Stafford’s Variety. After high school Betty attended Park Business College and was an active member in the Theta Kappa Sigma sorority.
Married life saw Betty active in the Junior League of Hamilton but her priority was always her daughters. Wherever we moved she always ensured we were settled and happy.
Betty kept connected to Dundas, organizing family trips so we could remain close to our cousins and she could visit with her best friend Pat.
Betty was an avid reader and a talented knitter, knitting over a thousand hats for the charity “The Little Hat that Grew.”
After retiring from a fulfilling career at the VON, she divided her time between BC and Ontario so she could be involved with her grandchildren.
We are ever grateful for the exceptional care she received at Carrington Place Retirement home in Ancaster and to her caring physician Dr. Shane Guckian.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday May 13th between 1-3pm at Turner Family Funeral home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.

Malise-with daughter Vivienne-followed her husband John ( Jan 23, 2012 ) to Canada in 1954; they settled in the Dundas area and Malise lived there until her move to the K-W vicinity in 2021 to be closer to most of her family. She leaves behind Vivienne, two granddaughters Lori (Mass.) and Suzy; five great-grandchildren, Christine, Robin, Riley, Declan and Kellan; and two great great grandchildren Grayson and Koen who gave her much joy in her final years. Cremation has taken place and a small private internment will take place in the warmer months.
Douglas Baptiste passed away suddenly at his home in Hamilton on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in his 77th year. Loving husband to Sue, and much-loved father of Nathaniel (Tracy), Charles (Drea) and Sarah (Tamer), and remembered by Sarah’s mother Susan. Predeceased by his father Raymond (2003) and mother Glenna (2023). Brother to Anthony (Roberta) and Greta (David). Caring and involved grandfather to Xavier. Cherished uncle to thirteen nieces and nephews and great uncle to twenty-five great nieces and nephews.
Douglas ‘Doogie’ was born in Gonzales, Port of Spain, Trinidad where he relished his time as a leader for the “Sheikhers”. The Sheikhers engaged in their community in many ways influencing his passion for his home and caring for others. He Immigrated to Canada in 1968 and began his long career in social work. Douglas dedicated his career to helping troubled youth and their families. He focused his practice upon mentally ill and violent youth, providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive. His compassion and understanding made a significant impact on the lives of many, and will be remembered as a true mentor and hero to those he helped.
Douglas had many passions, including the art of working with wood for which he gained many accolades. He was always eager to share his knowledge and experience with others and loved spending time in his home workshop.
Douglas loved cooking and good food! His meals were always a hit among family and friends. He especially loved when he could bring his family and friends together through his love of food.
Friends and family are invited to an open house celebration of life for Douglas at his home, 65 Harold Court, Hamilton on Wednesday, May 10th from 4:00 to 8:00
With great sadness we announce the passing of Geraldine (Gerrie) Hand in her 95th year at St. Joseph’s Hospital on May 1st, 2023. Loving mother to John and Lori. Loving youngest daughter of James and Janet Glen. Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph (Bennie), sisters Florence, Mae, Evelyn, Phyllis and Dorothy, and brother James. Geraldine was a secretary for Frid Construction, Hamilton, ON. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Hadcock and Dr. Andrew Healey for their care, and Dr. Maureen Meade and Dr. Deborah Cook for their kindness over the years. A private family funeral was held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas. Interment was held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. It is with heavy hearts the family of Edward Young share his passing on May 2nd, 2023.
Ed was born in Belfast Northern Ireland where he met and married the love of his life Betty Young (nee Wilton). Ed & Betty and their 4 daughters made Dundas home after immigrating to Canada in 1962.
Ed retired from Dofasco after 25 years. He then enjoyed a second career as a Pottery Technician with the DVSA.
Ed will be lovingly missed by his wife Betty, his daughters; Lorraine Gassner, Angela Young, Liz Young (Tony Naghten), Edlyn Young (Dave Gubekjian).
His grandsons; Edward Gassner (Delia Couto), Eric Gassner (Meghan Rosseel), Nigel Gubekjian, and his favourite granddaughter Ruby Gubekjian. His sister Ruth Mushing (the late Bill Mushing), his brother William Young (Carol), and all of our extended family here and in Ireland. Special thanks to Peter Gassner for his love and devotion.
Ed made lasting friends and memories everywhere he went. We know that they all join us in our grief and we thank them for words of tribute and support.

Dr. Graeme MacQueen died at home in Dundas from cancer on April 25, in the loving presence of his wife and daughter, Sharon and Jessica. He leaves behind his brother Ken and sisters Meg and Lorna. After graduating with a Ph.D. from Harvard, he joined the Dept. of Religious Studies at McMaster, where he taught Asian religion to thousands of students, being honoured for excellence in teaching by the McMaster Student Union. He established the Centre for Peace Studies, and was involved in peace-building activities in different war zones. After retirement, he dedicated his research to a critique of the foundations of the War on Terror. Graeme had friends all over the world, and was appreciated for his creativity, courage, and dedication to peace and justice. The family will hold a private memorial in celebration of his life.
Eleanor Carol Boyle, 82, passed away at Fairfield Park Retirement Residence on April 27th, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease
Eleanor was born on February 6th, 1941 to Thomas Lawson and Pauline Lawson (Harrison). She was raised in Dundas along side her brothers David Lawson, Brent Lawson and her step sister Eleanor.
She remained in Dundas for the majority of her life, raising her son Scott McIntyre and daughter Lisa Boulton (McIntyre), working and retiring from McMaster University financial services and meeting Bert Boyle who she spent some of the happiest years of her life with.
Eleanor was someone who would always put others ahead of herself. During times of crisis, those in need could always rely on her. Family was always a priority to her and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss her deeply.
Services will be held at Grove Cemetery in Dundas, May 2nd at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Parkinson Canada
Parliament, Mary Helen (nee Gibson) – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of Roger and loving mother to Doug (Debby) and Bob. Grandmother to Mark, Mike, Thad, Adam and Alana and great grandmother to Tyson, Rylee, Kamryn, Tanner and Kenzie. Predeceased by her 3 brothers; Jack, Gord and Bruce. Mary was a longtime member of St. Mark’s United Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Edgemount Chapter, and the Probus Club of Dundas, Friends will be received by the family on Monday evening from 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. The Funeral for Mary will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s United Church, 1 Lyndale Drive, Dundas. Interment Grove Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2023 in his 67th year. A native of Prince Edward Island, pre-deceased by parents Basil and Lillian (Morrissey), and loving brother to Walter (Marilyn), Pauline (Barry), Patsy (Ivan), James (Angela), the late Arlene (Nial), and Giselle (Fenton). Caring uncle of Mark (Stacy), Colin (Laura), Adam, Matthew (Chelsea), Mary-Ellen (Scott), Patrick (Stephanie), Michael, Tracey, Lindsay (Jordan), Garrett (Lindsey), Justin (Erin), Brett (Allison), Abilene (Steven) and Marshall (Judy). Will be sadly missed by his many great-nieces and nephews; Adeline, Lillian, Sophia, Thomas, Lucy, Molly, Kian, Samuel, Jack, Connell, Natalie, Liam, North and Ariat. Gerard had a deep love for horses, golf, and family and was a loyal friend to many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Augustine’s Church, Dundas or The Heart and Stroke Foundation. As per Gerard’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in PEI; no formal visitation or service.
