Pic, Edward – Peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital with his daughter by his side, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, Edward Pic, age 90 years. Loving father of Clara Dunbabin and cherished grandfather of Angela Dunbabin (Conrad Walker). Dear brother of Anne and Stanisla of Poland and predeceased by his wife Angela and siblings Joanne, Helene and Joe. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Louisa and cousins Mario and Laura of England and friend Sophie. In 1939, Edward left Poland and was held in Germany until 1945. He served in the Polish Army at the end of World War II. He moved to England in 1946 and worked as a coal miner in Manchester. In 1967 he immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario and was a proud member of Stelco, Local 1005. Thank you to St. Joseph’s Villa, Trillium Lane for their care and compassion for Edward. A private service for Edward will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Private Interment. Donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.

Rammo, Helen – Passed away on August 4, 2013 at the age of 92. Helen was born in Tallinn, Estonia and immigrated to Canada in 1949. She is predeceased by her husband Erik and parents Johannes and Anna. She is survived by her brother Vallo (Maimo) and nieces Kristin Glover and Vivian Harvey. A true lady, Helen will be remembered for her entertaining stories, her wisdom and amazing sense of humour. She enriched so many lives through her gentle ways and cherished her Estonian roots. Helen was absolutely devoted to her daughter, Marina and her dear granddaughter Camille. Helen was an avid reader and believed in cultivating friendships from all walks of life. She passed on her legacy in many ways. Helen will be fondly remembered and missed in Concordia, especially by her “nosy” neighbour of 46 years, Hildegard Walter. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas where Helen’s service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Sano, Rod – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Sunday, July 28, 2013 in his 70th year. Cherished father of Michael, Jennifer, Justin and Katy. Survived by his loving mother Sally and brother Eric (Cherie), and sisters Pat (Jim) and Sharon. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, August 3rd from 10 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Sprigg, Mary – Our dear mother passed away on Sunday, July 28th at the Hamilton General Hospital. Cherished mother of Maureen (Steve), Alan (Karen) and Rick (Jennifer). Loving grandmother of Allison (Aaron), Jen (Lee), Josh (Lisa), Lyndsay, Gabriella, Darcy and 4 great grandchildren and is pre-deceased by grandson Matthew. Mary will be sadly missed by many. A time of celebration and remembrance of Mary’s life will take place at the Cattel Centre, (next door to the Funeral Home), 45 Main Street, Dundas, on Thursday, August 1st at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. After an interesting journey through life, this trip is over.
Joan Kathryn, widow of Alfred Robertshaw and daughter of the late William N. Thoburn and Merle Jameson, passed away on July 24, 2013. Will be sadly misssed by her dear Aunt Hazel Awde, her special friend and travel companion, Everard Hambro, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Past President of the Hamilton Branch of the Canadian Women’s Press Club and Past President of the Players’ Guild of Hamilton. Friends and family will be received on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Kathy will be held Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment Grove Cemetery. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

LOWRY, Marion Eileen (Campbell) – June 9, 1913 – July 22, 2013. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marion Lowry announce her peaceful passing at her home at Amica at Dundas with her children at her side on July 22.. Loving Mother of Gregg & Lyn of London and Jane of Dundas. Dear grandmother and great grandmother to Quinn and Danica of Maple Ridge BC. Reunited with her dear husband Russel whom she lost in March 2008. She is the big sister to Neva Christmas and the late Arnold Campbell. Born in Hamilton 100 years ago, Marion lived a rich and happy life. She and Russ raised their family in London, Ont. and moved to Dundas for their retirement years. Nothing could match the love she had for her family. A remarkable woman whose caring soul touched all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Amica at Dundas and Dr. Sumanac for their special care during the past five years and added attention during the past three months. Visitation will take place at Cattel, Eaton & Chambers, 53 Main St., Dundas on Friday, July 26 at 11:00 followed by a funeral service at 12:00. In lieu of flowers donations to Binkley United Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be appreciated.

Loving mother to her son Grant, daughter Lisa (John Searles), and grandmother of Ian, Jacob, Graeme and Connor. Robertson, James Daniel “Dan” – Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Loved and missed always by his sisters Sue (Larry Birdsell) and Gerry (Kirk Hopkins) and brother Al, roommate and best friend. Remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and good friend Richard Jerome. Predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth and brother Bill (Brenda). William Newton, Bill died at the Hamilton General Hospital, on Saturday, July 20, 2013. He is survived by his wife Jeanette (Jo) of 47 years, daughter Monique, sister Terri and her family, as well as many cherished family and friends, and Dormie, his beloved Australian shepherd. Bill was co-founder and executive director of the Stanley Thompson Society and enjoyed five decades as an established graphic designer, winning national and international awards for his work. We will remember Bill best in his garden, ruminating on his creative – if somewhat unfinished – garden projects. And admiring his wildflowers. A Celebration of Bill’s life with his friends and colleagues will be held in early autumn. A Funeral Service will be held at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Wednesday, July 24th at 11a.m. A burial will take place on Thursday, July 25th for the family.
