On Monday, May 23rd, after recently celebrating her 70th birthday, Jane Binkley the beloved daughter of Thelma Halliday Gibbons and the late Chuck Halliday, and loving sister to Bonnie Picard, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven. After a courageous 4 year battle with cancer, our mother has finally found peace. Jane leaves behind her husband of 49 years Tom and their 5 children; Rob (Yuko), Janice (John), Tim (Tracy), Kim (Mike), and Greg (Jackie). As a lifelong resident of Dundas, Jane led an energetic life enjoying local theatre , cards, swimming, skating, and cycling where she enjoyed many friends. With Jane, friends very quickly became lifelong friends. Although she shed her nursing cap many years ago to raise her family Jane’s compassion, patience, and humour was a gift to all who had the honour of her presence. Jane will be reunited with her step-father Clark Gibbons, and brothers Jerry and Greg. Remaining behind to mourn are Jane’s cherished grandchildren; Amanda (Paul) and Kyle Berdan, Britany and Carter, Emily and Becca Carty, and Ryan and Darcy, as well as many loyal friends and family. Thank you to the staff at St. Peter’s Palliative Care, also to the clergy and congregation at St. Augustine’s for supporting Tom and Jane’s faith when it was being put to the test. The kindness that Jane bestowed on others was in turn bestowed upon her through the thoughtfulness and support of so many family members, friends and neighbours who made her difficult times more endurable. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place.
