Ryan, Josiah Alan – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Josiah. Loving son to Karin and Hany, devoted brother to Simon. He will be greatly missed by his many loving cousins in Hamilton, Toronto, Australia, Germany, New York, and Montserrat, his many uncles and aunts, and all of his loyal friends. Rest now, our beautiful boy. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday evening, June 29th, from 6-8 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A celebration of Josiah’s life will be held at The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton, 170 Dundurn Street South, Hamilton, on Friday, June 30th at 1:00 p.m. Donations can be made in memory of Josiah to the CAMH Foundation.

Arnold, Rose Emma (nee Bauer) – Passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Predeceased by her husband Werner (2013). Dearly remembered and loved by her daughter Helga (Heinz Gfroerer), her granddaughters Nadine and Christine and nieces in Germany. Keeping with Rose’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. If you so wish, donations to a charity of your choice will be appreciated by the family.

Boswell, Walter Edward “Ozzie” – With heavy hearts, the family of Walter Edward “Ozzie” Boswell announce his peaceful passing on June 10, 2017 in his 88th year. Ozzie, a dedicated and proud family man, is survived by his loving wife Nancy Elizabeth nee Fleischer of Ingersoll, Ontario; his dear sister Mary Elizabeth Frances and brother-in-law Claude Cornu of Park City, Utah; his seven children David (Kathi), John, Caroline (Dave), Jennifer, Mary (Allen), Judy (Mark) and Christopher (Karen); 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Raised in Seaforth, Ontario, Ozzie entered the workforce at an early age at London Life Insurance. Ozzie retired as a loved and respected teacher at Mohawk College, Hamilton. He will be remembered as a true gentleman with a kind and generous soul. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton for their compassion and care. We are forever thankful. Donations can be made in Ozzie’s memory to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. Cremation has taken place. McColl, Phyllis Irene (nee Burrows) – In loving memory of Phyllis Irene McColl (nee Burrows) who died peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in her 97th year. Phyllis is survived by her children Philip McColl (Monica Scholz) (Ruth Belch) and Andrea McGrory (Paul McGrory) and her grandchildren Katherine Gill (Jared Gill), Rebecca Young (Travis Young), Francesca Loftus (Corey Loftus) and Macoll McGrory (Ellie Craig) and her great grandchildren Ashley and Piper Gill, Peyton and Madison Young, Theodore Loftus, Lily and Ava McGrory and her nieces and nephews George, Barb, Rosilyn, Marie, Sandy, Raymond Ruth, Alida, Keith and Kim. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Clark ‘Barney’ McColl and her brothers Elwood and Grant Burrows. Phyllis was born on December 14th, 1920 in Trenton, Ontario to Fred and Myrtle Burrows (nee Spry) of Napanee. Phyllis was a true Trentonian and a lover of golf and the Trenton golf club, bridge, her political party and beautiful things. The family wish to thank all those who cared for her in her later years, especially the staff of Willowgrove LTC, The Bayfront Unit. Phyllis will be remembered for her elegance and being the life of the party. She will be missed dearly by her family. A memorial service will be held in her home town of Trenton later this summer. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be
appreciated by the family.

Boothroyd, Alan Denham B.Sc., M.B.A., P. Eng. – On May 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, Alan passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of sixty years to Judith, loving father of Susan Korporaal (Bill), Richard Boothroyd (Diane), and Valerie Powell (Jeff), proud Grandad of Robert, Angela, Samantha, Daniel, Alex, Amanda, Hannah, and Charlie. Alan was born on November 4, 1933 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. He and Judith emigrated to Canada in 1965. They were avid world travellers. From 1969 to 1997 Alan was employed by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. and in 1991-1995 went to United Nations in Vienna to work at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Alan’s artistic talents included set design for the Waterdown Village Theatre, painting, and photography. He and Judith shared a love for music, opera, theatre, and history. Alan’s family will welcome family and friends at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas from 12:00 – 2:00 pm on June 1st, 2017. A light lunch and refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Juravinski Hospital or a charity of your choice. Alan’s family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care provided by the health care team at Juravinski hospital.
