Kitchen, D. Elizabeth (nee Buttrum) – Passed away at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Predeceased by her first husband James Allen Kitchen and second husband Blake Charlton. Remembered and dearly loved by her son Paul and his wife Cathie; grandson Jake; brother Ron and niece and nephew Cathy and Scott. Elizabeth was a long time member of Rock Chapel Church and recent member of Amica at Stoney Creek where she met some dear friends. Many thanks to the surgical step down unit and ICU staff at St. Joseph’s Healthcare for their wonderful care. In keeping with Elizabeth’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private Graveside Service will be held.

We were saddened to hear of Elizabeth’s death today . Bill and I had a wonderful visit with her several months ago and she appeared well although tired. Elizabeth was a committed member of Rock Chapel and we had such fun with she and Blake. She also came to Rosemary Brown’s painting group and we missed her so much when she found it too difficult to get out. We sat across the table from on another and we always encouraged one another in our artistic endeavours. I remember your dad too as he was in Blackadar’s with my grandfather Roland Cowper. He had a wicked sense of humour. Elizabeth was like a family member and I will never forget her friendship. Our condolences to you all. If possible we would like to attend the graveside service . You can let us know.
It was our pleasure to look after Elizabeth for many years. Her kind and gentle nature will be missed.
My condolences to the family. My husband and I, Jim and Anne Bryson, got to know Elizabeth at Amica. Enjoyed playing Euchre with her and the rest of our group. She never forgot how to play and when we thought we were going to get beat, she always seemed to have an ace or a trump up her sleeve. Enjoyed having lunch with her many times.

Dear Paul and family,
My family and I were very sad to hear of the passing of Elizabeth. We met your mom as a long time member of Rock Chapel United Church. I also spent many hours painting with her as part of Rosemary Brown’s painting group. Elizabeth was a wonderful friend and I admired her painting skills very much. I was able to see her a few times over the last few years when I visited for tea and a quiet chat both at her apartment and at Amica. Our prays and thoughts are with you and your family. Elizabeth will be sadly missed.
My Mother-in-law, Jean Dyment knew Elizabeth from Rock Chapel United Church. Jean died in the year, 2000 at the age of 90. Elizabeth was a good friend and so kind to my mother-in-law. Myself, my husband, Bill, deceased as well, and his siblings who live in Ottawa and the States were so greatful for the time that Elizabeth and other friends from Rock Chapel spent with Jean. Wishing you peace and comfort.
