Dewit, Alfred ( Fred )
Born in Landvetter, Sweden on September 29, 1949.
Passed away at home in Dundas, August 15, 2017, peacefully surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his mother Lillia, his stepfather Karl, his sister Maya & Joe Muschi, his brother Frans, his brother in law Esam Sarraf. Survived by his loving wife Angela ( née: Dawson ), son Erik & wife Robin and darling granddaughter Ava, sister-in-law Jeanette, the Dawson family, many nephews, nieces and their families. Fred started working in 1968 at Stelco as a crane operator for 18 years and then in the continuous caster as a shipper/slitter operator until his retirement in 2005. With his wife and dear group of friends, he began to travel the world. He was a kind, caring, loving man who would do anything for his family and friends and was the love of Angela’s life. Fred played hockey all his life, the last few years with the Senior Shinny group. Cremation has taken place and a gathering to celebrate his life, will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Turner Family Funeral Home , 53 Main St. Dundas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peter & Pauline Dawson Foundation/ Toronto Foundation 33 Bloor St. E. Suite 1603 Toronto, On. M4W 3H1 or the Juravinski Cancer Centre Hamilton, would be appreciated. A special thank you to Dr. R. Singh, VON, CCAC/LIHN, Firestone clinic and the Doctors, Nurses and Volunteers at JCC.

Westoby, Gordon Frank Durrant

May 17, 1949 – August 14, 2017

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gordon Frank Durrant Westoby announces his passing on Monday evening, August 14, 2017, at the age of 68. Gord was the beloved husband of Carolyn and ‘Best Dad’ of Kevin and Caroline, Jenny and Dave. He was the very proud Grandpa of Brayden, Aaron, Zachary, and Anna. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Laureane Westoby. Brother of Pat (deceased) and Bob Raynsford, Bonnie and John Barrett-Hamilton. Son-in-law of Joan and Norm (deceased) Howard. Brother-in-law of Craig Howard & Joanne Fournier, Beth & John Genovese, Barb Warner & Dean Rivando. Gord will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gord was a proud Dundas resident. Being a member of the Westoby family was enormously important to him as were his friendships at CaseIH. Deep appreciation to Chuck Howard and Steve Quiney for their support and friendship, and to Craig Howard for his unfailing care. Thank you to the many members of the health care disciplines for supporting Gord in these last years. Their skills allowed him to play with his grandchildren, and until just three weeks ago, to work in his garden and sit with his dog Abbie, scratching her ears. Thank you also to the pharmacy staff at the King Street, Dundas, Shoppers Drug Mart for their sincere care. Friends will be received by the family on Monday, August 21 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. The service in honour of Gord’s life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 22 at 11am. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Martin, Adele

July 6, 1929 – August 5, 2017

Adele slipped into a forever sleep on Aug. 5 to join her husband Alec, son Tom, daughter Linda, parents Susan & Harry, brother Bob, grandson David as well as many other beautiful souls  (4 legged ones included). She will be greatly missed by her family, daughter Virginia (Larry); sister Margaret; dearest friend Marie, son-in-law Dennis; daughter-in-law Ellen; grandchildren Amelia (Ryan), Therese, Chris (Chrystal), Simon (Allie), Eric (Megan), Alex, Melanie & Josh; great grand-children, Isabelle, Callie, Brynn and Nate; & her loyal dog Chum. Also, many nieces, nephews, friends (many who loved her as Gramadele and lots whom we consider family) and a community that loved, supported and respected her through her life. Adele spent her life giving, supporting, mentoring and loving all those around her. She was very involved in her church and received The Order of Niagara in 2007. She did years of volunteering at St. Matthews house, taught 4-H, did Scottish country dancing, sang in various choirs and walked & swam probably thousands of miles. She was a constant and very present force in her family’s lives whether near or far. She will be so missed but has joined all those loved ones from her life that departed much too soon. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home , 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Tuesday August 15 from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Anglican, Flamborough, on Wednesday August 16 at 1:30p.m. If desired, donations to Christ Church Anglican, Flamborough, or St. Matthew’s House Hamilton would be greatly appreciated.

Paul, Mason Marcel

September 15, 1994 – August 5, 2017

Paul, Mason Marcel aged 22, suddenly on Saturday, August 5th, 2017 in Dundas ON.  Mason’s zest for life, fierce commitment to human connection and compassion for animals will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. A vibrant, wonderfully unique and passionate life cut far too short by addiction.  Youngest son to Caroline and Bill, younger brother to India and Dylan, grandson to Barbara and Bill Paul, Marylin Howard and Marcel Beauchamp (deceased).  Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 11th, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas ON.  Everyone warmly welcome.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mason’s honour to: Ontario Wildlife Rescue.

 

 

Young, Ralph Ormond

August 26, 1926 – August 4, 2017

Young, Ralph Ormond – Peacefully, in his 91st year, Ralph passed away at Highgate Residence, his home away from home where he had resided for the past several years. Ralph is predeceased by his wife Elsie May (Riley) Young and siblings Lloyd, Calvin, Mary and Violet. He will be forever missed by his sons Gary (Lyn), Gregory (Shirley) and grandchildren Kyle and Janine. His love, humor, sage advice, and wit will not be forgotten. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Highgate Residence for their unwavering support, joy, and happiness they brought to Ralph every day. As Ralph was an avid supporter of local charities, donations to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
