Grigg, Mary (nee Lightheart) Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 15th, 1939, passed away March 5th , 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mary leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Norman, as well as her 2 sons Mark and Russell, daughter-in-law Louisa and grandchildren Mathew and Angela. Mary was born into a family of 10 with 5 girls and 5 boys; Violet, Jean, Inna, Helen, James, John, Eddie, David and Bill. We would like to express our thanks to the emergency staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Family and friends will be received at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, Ontario on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Snively, Lorna Mae – At the Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2018, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Bill, and loving mother to Ken (Barb) and Lynda Sandilands (Rick). Predeceased by her daughter Carolanne Green. Cherished grandmother of Laura (Bruce), Michelle (Ed), Ryan (Sarah) and Heather, and GG Ma to Frankie, Andrew, Alex and Sophie. Lorna was happy to live independently on her own terms. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday morning from 11 until the time of Lorna’s Service at 12 noon at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Followed by a reception next door at the Cattel Family Centre. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy to St. Mark’s United Church would be appreciated by the family.

Poirier, Olive Mary Jane (nee Smith) – Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Friday, March 2, 2018, in her 91st year. Born in Proton Township, ON to Herbert and Sadie (nee Cutting) Smith. Beloved wife of the late Real Jean “Roy” in 2011. Dear mother of Marcel (Margie), Janet (Ed) Rattray and Dave (Linda). Loving grandmother of Amy (Mike), Diane (Lindsay), Michele (Adam), Jennifer (Jon), Jacqueline, Nicole, Eddy Rattray, Danielle, Mae, Jesselyn Rattray and Mary. Great Grandma of Dustin, Ayla, Rylee, Robbie and Jackson. Sister of Mae Slack, Ray (Marie), Bruce, Christina (Alex) Patterson and the late Archie. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a 15 year employee of Tuckett’s Tobacco before staying at home to raise her family. Her love was her garden and her TOPS club outings. Many thanks to all the staff and caregivers at St. Joseph’s Villa for their friendship and care over the last 18 years. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Olive will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment White Chapel Cemetery, followed by a reception and fellowship at the Cattel Family Centre, next door to the Funeral Home. Dallman, Audrey, called “Holly” by family and friends, passed away Feb 26, 2018 at 10:45 pm. She is fondly remembered and missed by her husband (Bill Dallman), her children Carolyn, Joanne, Garth and daughter-in-law Marlene, her grandchildren Donovan and wife Shannon, Brendan, Caleb, Tyler and Nevin, and great grandchildren Devin, Hayden and Logan. She was a dedicated member of St. James Anglican Church in Dundas acting as a former warden, stalwart choir member and treasurer for St. James Anglican Church in Dundas. She worked as a law clerk and bookkeeper for Van Der Woerd and Faber for many years. And in her retirement spent several years at Revenue Canada at income tax time. Friends will be received by the family at ST. JAMES ANGLICAN CHURCH, 137 Melville Street, Dundas, on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 1:00 until the time of Holly’s Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Everyone welcome. Hunter, Alexander – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful man and loving father in his 98th year on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Born in Clydebank, Scotland August 18, 1919, he is reunited with his adored wife and soulmate Marie (nee Hackwell). Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Catherine, sister Margaret, and brothers in law Alex, Lee and Tom. He will be deeply and forever missed by his daughter Carol (Ralph), son Jay, grandchildren Angela, John, Ashton, Keaton and great grandson Chase Alexander Benedetti, his sisters Grace and Jenny and many nieces nephews and cousins. A Flight Lieutenant in WWII with the 447 squadron, he piloted a Spitfire over Juno Beach on D-Day. Knighted by France with the Knights Order of the Legion of Honor medal. Electrical Engineering graduate (U of T), employee of Canadian General Electric and a very talented artist. Sincere thanks for the years of care received at the General, St. Joseph’s , Juravinski and McMaster Hospitals and the compassion of staff at Wentworth Lodge. A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul’s United Church in Dundas on April 15th at 1 PM. Donations to the Air Force Club in Dundas would be appreciated.
On February 17, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, Wilma Gumbert peacefully joined her lord and savior for all eternity. Wilma Marguerite Gumbert (nee Ferguson), predeceased by her first husband Flory Pacific and her late husband Charles Gumbert passed in her 84th year. Dearly loved and missed by her three sons George Ferguson (Janice), Donald Ferguson (Cathy), Percy Pacific (Susan) and her five grand-children and five great grand-children. The family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Wentworth Lodge for their dedication to Wilma over the past number of years. Marilyn Searle (nee Dodd) passed peacefully on the morning of February 16th, 2018 at home in St. George. Marilyn is predeceased by her beloved husband Bill, parents Lottie and William Dodd of Westdale, and sister Janet Harris. Marilyn always had a keen sense for high quality and was a very talented sewer and painter, both of which brought her much joy. Her true passion though was her family and she will be remembered as a devoted and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children Bill, Tom (Rebecca) and Lesley (Rick), her grandchildren Julia, Derek and Amanda, her cousins, their families and her friends. Marilyn and her family wanted to extend heartfelt thanks to all of her friends for staying in touch; she really appreciated it. Dan’s love for and devotion to his family knew no bounds. His wife and soulmate, Betty (nee Friend), was loved more than any woman on earth. Throughout their 56 years of marriage, they faced the highs and lows of life together. Dan would say that these things only made their love for each other stronger. His ‘three girls’, Lynn Watson, Cindy Dickson (Jason, who has been holding a seat for Dan in Heaven’s Hot Stove Lounge) and Andrea Connor (Michael), each held a very special place in Dan’s heart. One of the things they could always count on was their Dad’s love and support. Dan was extremely proud of his four grandchildren, Riley (Cole), Chloe, Mary and Charlie. In his eyes, it was impossible for any of them to do wrong. His friends were also so important to Dan. A lifetime of stories about his baseball teams, hiking group, poker club, and lifelong friends will never grow old. Dan loved so deeply, and was so deeply loved. Betty, Lynn, Cindy and Andrea will be greeting family and friends at the Turner Family Funeral Home at 53 Main Street in Dundas on Thursday, February 15th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Dan’s Life on Friday, February 16th at 1:00 pm. Wright , L. Marshall – It is with great sadness that the family of Marshall announces his death in his 93rd year, on Monday, February 5, 2018, in Dundas, Ontario. He is predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 70 years, Audrey (nee Headley) and by his precious granddaughter, Leah MacAdam. He is the deeply cherished father of Sandy DeVoe (Phil), Jan Burke-Gaffney (Mike), Wendy-Marsha MacAdam (David) and Jennifer Wright. Adored Grandfather to Wendy, P.J., Marshall (Erin), Joe, Andrew, Jesse, Emily and Hayley. Adoring Great-Grandfather to Gavin, Alex, Connor, Ali and Wolf. Born in Ottawa in 1925, he is predeceased by his parents Margaret (Trodden) and Leithwold Wright, his brother and sister-in-law Garn and Eileen (Dunn) Wright, brother-in-law, Ron Armstrong and survived by his sister, Lois Armstrong and many nieces and nephews. At age 17, Marshall became a sergeant pilot flying Tiger Moths but was too young to see action. He married his high school sweetheart, a love story that never ended, and graduated Queen’s University. He entered a distinguished career in the Canadian Armed Forces that included postings around the world and service in Korea in 1952-53 with his regiment Lord Strathcona’s Horse. He went on to command two helicopter squadrons, 403, Gagetown, New Brunswick, and 444 in Lahr, Germany. He lectured at the Canadian Staff College in Toronto and piloted Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau before retirement as a Lt. Colonel. He and Audrey fulfilled a dream to retire in the British Virgin Islands where they spent 17 years sailing, swimming and scuba diving. They returned to Canada in their 70’s to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Marshall will be missed for his fantastic sense of humour, his adventurous spirit and his loving heart. Special gratitude to the staff at Wentworth Lodge whose tender concern for Marshall’s comfort was greatly valued by his family. Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held. Donations to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated by Marshall and his family.
