It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Anne Leegstra on April 6th, 2024 in her 75th year. She will be dearly missed by her partner, Brian Lacombe, sons, Warren and Jack, and daughters Terra, Krista, Tricia and Samantha. She is predeceased by her mother Marie McHattie and her sister Margaret Bourgeois. Anne will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Jessie, Ashlynne, Victoria, Kelli, Tristan, Brooklyn, Austin and Chloe. Visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas on Tuesday April 16th, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.. It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Claire Ellen Pym (nee Good) who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas at the age of 81. Claire is reunited with her loving parents James and Dorothy Good, sister Cathy Good, and son-in-law James Gilbert. Beloved wife of Terry Pym, and mother of Craig (Kelly), Jason (Hilda), Kimberley (Scott), Jennifer (Brad), and Erin (Steve). Survived by her brother Peter (Judy). Loving grandmother to all of her grandchildren Hunter, Reese, Alexa, Linden, Keagan, Ethan, Eleanor, Sarah, Isaac, and Jonas. Claire was retired from the Rose City Senior’s Centre in the City of Welland as a Senior’s Recreation Coordinator. Claire was a social butterfly and was the “hostess with the mostest”, always being the centre of family gatherings of which she will be greatly missed. Sincere gratitude to the exceptional care from St. Joseph’s Villa, Birch Trail nurses, PSW’s, doctors and staff in providing the utmost care and love for Claire throughout her illness and especially in her final days and hours. Cremation has taken place. Visitation and funeral will take place at TURNER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 53 Main St., Dundas. Visitation to be held on Friday, April 12th from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.. Funeral will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 2:00 P.M. Passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2024 at the age of 94. Reen will be missed dearly by his daughters Marlize Monaco-Millar (Gord), Ellen Thornton (Jim) and son Richard (Carole). He was “Pappie” to grandchildren Shaylia Fennama (nee Monaco) (Neal), Penny Ann Lupton (nee Thornton) (Ken), Lisa (nee Monaco) Fennema (Colin), Jim Thornton (Amanda), Richie Vanderlubbe, Christopher Vanderlubbe (Jessie), Jessica Millar, and James Millar, and 18 great grandchildren. Reen is pre-deceased by his wife Regine (Sini), his brother Bill, his sister Rita, his inlaws (Inge, Peter, Fred, Gwen, Harry, Detta, Carmen, Jim), his son-inlaw Rino Monaco, and his grandson Ricky Monaco (Bernadette). Reen was born in the Netherlands, moved to Suriname in 1947, marrying Sini, and moving to Canada in 1958. He entered the grocery business and owned an IGA store on Main St E in Hamilton from 1963 to 1989. Many family members worked a stint in that store, and many friendships and marriages formed there. Reen was an avid tennis player in his backyard court, The Landings in Fort Myers, and until age 85 at the Burlington Racket Club. A great life! Simpson, Helen Kathleen (nee Hutcheson) Nov 18, 1923-March 30th, 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Simpson announces her peaceful passing at home at the remarkable age of 100! Helen was born in Huntsville, Ont. to Arthur and Edna Hutcheson. She is survived by her beloved sister Janet Fisher and predeceased by her brother Dennis (Betty), sisters Ruth and Joan (Jim Amos). Helen is also predeceased by her late husband Jim (“farmer Jim”- Feb 2000). They were married for 54 years! She is also survived by her loving daughter Jane, and sons Robert (Patricia), and John (Janet), her grandchildren Ian (Nancy), Eric (Michelle), David, Emily and her great grandchildren Avery, Ryan Isobel, Ivy and Holly. She is lovingly referred to as “Great Nanny”. Through her life, Mom was also surrounded by so many amazing cousins, in-laws, and brother and sister in-laws that kept us in an active social life. Mom was the guiding light on the hill, with a strong conviction to her Lord. She gladly shared her love, care, wisdom, inspiration and tremendous generosity to all. She loved music, and was a long time member with Dad in the choir and guiding movement at Christ Church Flamborough. She wrote music & poems and played the cello, piano and guitar. When visiting Mom, you were treated to her renowned cooking or baking and usually sent home with pictures or a remembrance of old. As you departed she would always ask “is there anything I can do for you?” Special thank you to many years of gentle care by Dr. L. Coren, and more recently Dr. A. Emili and the Home health care nurse team. A special thank you to Rev. Naomi Kabugi for comforting Mom & the family, exactly when needed. Special mention of love to her forever friends, Murdie Faulkner and Mildred Hodd (deceased). Special mention to Julie Jackson for her kind help and friendship for Mom; as well our close cousin, Ron Spears, which Mom referred to as her 3rd son! A Celebration of her Life will be held Friday, April 5th at Christ Church Flamborough, #92 Hwy #8, Dundas (near bullocks cors.). Visitation from 10 am with the service beginning at 11am. Interment following a reception at the church at Hamilton Cemetery by the family. Pat will be missed by her siblings, Denise, Debbie, Donna and Kenneth. She will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Loved mother of the late David Willis (Diane) and the late Marilyn Gater and stepmother of Ruth Giles (Ian) and Joan Richardson. Cherished grandmother of Kim (Duane), Brad (Terri), Todd (Becky), Geoff, Rob (Dawn), Kelly, Amanda, Amie (Steve) and Jocelyn (Cam); thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Dear sister of George Bowman (the late Joan). Arlene will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed. Marie leaves behind her children, Ben, Terry, Karen (Dan Cornell), Tracey (Al) Leblanc along with grandchildren Jason Cornell (Kristen), Danielle (Jacob Miller), Courtney Cornell, Kristian Leblanc and great-grandchildren Joey and Tommy Miller, Clyde Cornell who will deeply miss her. It is with heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the leader of our pack, David James “Jim” Monds. Jim passed away at home peacefully on Friday, March 15th, 2024, just shy of his 86th birthday. Jim was born in Sharbot Lake, Ontario, and grew up in Tweed, Ontario. He moved to Dundas in 1960. He worked for Snetsinger Lumber, and retired from the Town of Dundas after 25 years. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 428, Tweed.
Jim spent his summers on Stoco Lake fishing with his faithful fishing dog Shadow. In the fall, Jim enjoyed his time at the deer hunting camp in Bancroft and his travels moose hunting in Perrault Falls. He passed all of his knowledge of the great outdoors to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In Jim’s retirement years, he and Margaret enjoyed their travels across America, especially to their favourite spot, Las Vegas.
Jim was surrounded by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 65 years, Margaret Monds (nee Thompson), his three children, David (Karen), Scott (Diane) and Kelly Collett (Terry). He was a much loved Poppy by all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nicole Lareau (Simon) and their children Addison and Joshua, Carley Aussem (Jamie) and their child Joshua, Cody Collett (Kelsey) and their children Everett and Brie, Jamie Monds (Victoria) and their children David and Liam and Joey Monds (Teagan). He is now fishing with his beloved grandson Scotty.
Jim is survived by his brother Doug (Bonnie) and is predeceased by his parents, Wellington and Pearl Monds, and his five sisters and three brothers. Jim is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Jim’s life on May 4, 2024 from 1 pm – 5pm at the Hamilton Air Force Association, Dundas, Ontario. There will be a cash bar. Laura Eveline Williams passed away peacefully at Wentworth Lodge on Sunday, March 17, 2024, in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband David (2000). Loving mother to Don (Mary) and Lois. Caring grandmother to Greg (Caroline), Christine (Brad), Kyle (Katie), Cameron (Melanie) and she will be sadly missed by many great grandchildren.

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Steven Frank Morelli aka “Faccia” He passed away peacefully at home in his sleep Tuesday, March 12th, 2024. Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara and his two sons Tyson and Tom (Amanda). He was a beloved grandfather to his cherished grandchildren Kezia, Anikan, Asria, (Annick), Drew and Zack Morelli. He was a devoted brother to Ron (Sue) Morelli, Debbie Morelli and countless cousins. Favourite Uncle Steve to eight nieces/nephews. He is also survived by the remaining members of the “Dirty Dozen”. Steve is predeceased by his parents Albert and Constance (Evangelisto) as well as brother Tommy.
Steve’s journey began in 1942, where he embarked on a life filled with service, dedication, and joy. For over three decades, he proudly served as a devoted member of The Hamilton Fire Department. In addition, Steve was also a proud partner in Brothers Equipment Rentals for over 30 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic were evident in everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on the business and those he worked alongside.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Steve’s true passion lay in fostering connections and creating memories with family and friends. As a founding member of the “Dirty Dozen” Thursday Crew, he cherished the camaraderie and bonds formed over shared experiences. Whether organizing the annual “Wayne Murray Classic” Firefighter Horseshoe Tournament or hosting family picnics, Steve had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and spreading joy wherever he went.
Known for his sense of humour and genuine kindness, Steve was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence brightened any gathering, and his absence will be deeply felt by many.
In accordance with Steve’s wishes, a cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private funeral service to honor his life, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hamilton Burn Unit. (Choose “Other” and enter Burn Unit)
Though Steve may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he created. May he rest in peace, knowing he made the world a brighter place with his presence.
