It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Barr announce his passing peacefully at the Meadows Long Term Care in Ancaster on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the age of 82.
Robert was born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1953 and grew up in Dundas. He was an employee of the Dundas Star and then went on to have his own business of Barr Painting and Decorating for many years
He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara Barr (nee Young).
He was the loving father of Jill (Mike) and Bryan (Madeline) and cherished Papa of Kevin, Rachel, Robert and Claire.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Barr, his brothers, Bill and John and his sisters Margaret and Rose.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
We would like to extend our thanks to The Meadows Long Term Care, St. Peters Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Juravinski Hospital and their staff for their kindness and support in Robert’s care.

Passing away peacefully on May 8, 2024, in his 78th year, Bill is reunited with his parents William and Barbara.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Truax), and his daughters Cheryl (Michael) Gemmell, and Karen (Dat Pham) and by his grandchildren, Meredith, Henry, and Gracie, who he asked after every day.
There will be an empty chair at the card table as he is missed by brothers Mike (Pat), Phil (Sandra) and Doug (Penny).
Spending his early years in Ancaster and Dundas, he raised his family in east Hamilton before heading to Markstay, ON. Retiring to Dunnville and returning to Hamilton to be with Sharon when her care needs changed.
Bill was a life-long “do-it-yourselfer” He will be remembered for his gift with numbers as a bookkeeper, property manager, and tavern owner.
We know Bill has found a place to cast his line while he waits for the fish to bite.

He was predeceased by his first wife Constance (Connie) Rumley nee (Cornell). Also predeceased by the following , his parents Lewis John (Clifford) Rumley and Alice Elizabeth (Bessie) Rumley of Silver Water, Manitoulin Island, his brother Clifford Leslie (Les) Rumley, sisters Cappy Bulley, Hazel Boyko, Geordie Berry and Florence Dinsmore.
He leaves behind his son Nelson Clifford Rumley and daughter in-law Corinne.
He will be sadly missed by his second wife Mary Rumley, stepdaughters Zella DeLamorandiere, Anna DeLamorandiere (Jamie) and Marilyn McLaughlin, his sisters’ in-law Irene Totten (Bob) of New Brunswick, Glenda McDonald of North Bay, Phyllis McDonald of Hamilton and Bill McDonald (Jr.) Toronto.
Sadly, missed by his granddaughter Mara Rumley (Justin) his step-granddaughter Cynthia Tilley (Matt), Marley Neill (Jarvis), Cody DeLamorandiere (Yanna), Jazlyn Bertrand , Courtney Duncan (Derrick) and two great grandsons Logan and Liam.
He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews from the West Coast, East Coast and the surrounding areas.
Grant moved from the Island at the early age of 17 to Dundas looking for work. He was hired and went to work for Snetsinger Lumber. He loved working with wood and was an exceptional carpenter. He then worked for Cashway, the Dairy Bar, delivering milk, he was then hired at the Hamilton Conservation Authority from where he retired. He thoroughly enjoyed his many trips back to Manitoulin Island and spending time at the cottage. He loved his hunting and fishing and had a many a good times with his son, good buddies and family and friends get togethers. He was also an avid golfer, pool player, softball, and enjoyed darts. He was a Legion Member of Branch 36 for over 50 years and received his 50-year pin in 2023. He enjoyed doing the Legion Turkey and Ham Rolls for quite a few years and Duffers Golf.
Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas on Thursday, May 9th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm for visitation. A service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 10th at 11 am. Interment to follow. It would be appreciated by the family that, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dundas Legion Br. 36 Poppy Fund or a Charity of your choice. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date at Dundas Legion.
It is with great sadness that the family of Jane Simpson announces her sudden passing at St. Joseph’s Villa, Dundas on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 76. She is survived by her brothers Robert (Patricia) Simpson, John (Janet) Simpson, and predeceased by her parents James (Jim) and Helen.
Jane also leaves behind her niece and nephews, Emily, David, Ian (Nancy), Eric (Michelle), great nieces and nephews, Avery, Ryan, Isobel, Ivy and Holly along with many relatives and friends.
Jane was a special individual with a heart as big as they come, had an uncanny memory, wonderful sense of humour and a savory disposition when things weren’t going her way.
She enjoyed singing, music, crafts, her many cats over the years, with an affection for the royal family and her love of God and Church.
Our heartfelt thanks to the many who cared for Jane over the years, who literally became an extension to our family, with a special mention to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa and Community Living in Port Colborne. Jane never forgot what you did for her and loved each and every one of you.
A graveside service will be held at the Hamilton Cemetery, 777 York Blvd, Hamilton at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024. All are welcome.

It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, Papa and Opa, Michael Yoshimoto on April 27th, 2024, in his 81st year. Michael was born in Litton, BC, and he leaves behind his loving wife Dineke and devoted daughters Esther (Richard), Audrey (George) and Christa (Rich) and grandchildren, Aidan, Noah, Evan and Andie. A long time resident of Dundas, Michael loved life and cherished his time with family and hobbies of fishing, skiing and car mechanics. With a career as an Electrical Technologist and interest in mechanics he could tackle any challenge that came his way. We will miss seeing him along the shores of Georgian Bay. As per Michael’s wishes, there will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory can be gratefully made to the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
Vera passed away peacefully at Margaret’s Place Hospice on Friday March 29, 2024. Beloved spouse of Joe. Vera was born in Northern Ireland in 1936 and emigrated with Joe to Canada in 1960, where she raised and was a loving mother to Michelle and Sean. Vera was a proud and loving grandmother to Katie, Andrew, Eleanor, and Anne, and loving mother-in-law of Juan Carlos and Eileen. Dearly loved sister of the late Jack Todd, Harry Todd, Francis Tweedie, and Margaret Ford. We will be forever grateful for all the love, support, and care Vera received from her nephew Todd and his family and for all the kindness and love she received from the extended Todd and Palmer families. Also we have tremendous gratitude for the care, compassion, friendship, and love she received from her caregivers, Cyndi and her staff at Bertram Place. Vera was a talkative, artistic, and vivacious person, and will be missed dearly by all she touched and met. Donations in Vera’s memory can be gratefully made to Margaret’s Place Hospice. Loving mother to Edward John (Janet) and Colin Philip. Jane will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony), Heather (James), and 5 great grandchildren. Left to mourn her loss are her sister-in-law, Ruth Watson and her nephew, Philip Watson. Jane is predeceased by her brother, John Watson, and nephew, Edward Watson.
Working in the circulation department of the library at McMaster University for 25 years, Jane had the opportunity to share her love of books, and help shape young minds.

Anne will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Jessie, Ashlynne, Victoria, Kelli, Tristan, Brooklyn, Austin and Chloe. It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Claire Ellen Pym (nee Good) who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas at the age of 81. Claire is reunited with her loving parents James and Dorothy Good, sister Cathy Good, and son-in-law James Gilbert. Beloved wife of Terry Pym, and mother of Craig (Kelly), Jason (Hilda), Kimberley (Scott), Jennifer (Brad), and Erin (Steve). Survived by her brother Peter (Judy). Loving grandmother to all of her grandchildren Hunter, Reese, Alexa, Linden, Keagan, Ethan, Eleanor, Sarah, Isaac, and Jonas. Claire was retired from the Rose City Senior’s Centre in the City of Welland as a Senior’s Recreation Coordinator. Claire was a social butterfly and was the “hostess with the mostest”, always being the centre of family gatherings of which she will be greatly missed. Sincere gratitude to the exceptional care from St. Joseph’s Villa, Birch Trail nurses, PSW’s, doctors and staff in providing the utmost care and love for Claire throughout her illness and especially in her final days and hours. Cremation has taken place. Visitation and funeral will take place at TURNER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 53 Main St., Dundas. Visitation to be held on Friday, April 12th from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.. Funeral will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 2:00 P.M.
