Brown, Ernie Bedford

It is with great sadness that another WWII Vet, peacefully passed at the Juravinski Hospital on Friday, November 18, 2022 in his 98th year. Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Doris Brown. Father of Randi (and the late Mitch), David (Anne), and Cliff (Jim). Cherished grandfather of Sean, Aletha, Lori (Jessie) and Kyle (Cassandra). Loved great-grandfather of Emma, Cole, Griffin, Madison, Jack, Declan, Rhys and Hannah. Predeceased by his siblings, Jack, Irene and Anita. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, friends and comrades at the Dundas Legion. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Village of Wentworth Heights Retirement Home and the Juravinski Hospital for their loving care and compassion. Celebration of Life will take place at the Dundas Legion Branch #36, 280 King St. W., Dundas, on Friday, December 2 from 1-4p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be sent to the Dundas Legion Poppy Fund. Dad, Ernie will always be in our hearts.

Mandryk, Donald William “Don”

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Don passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones by his side. He is predeceased by his loved and loving wife Jo-Ann (2003) and son Mark (1995). Dearly loved and remembered always by his daughter and son-in-law Meredith and Colin Kelly; grandchildren Breanne and Grant; and partner Kathryn Burton. Don will be deeply missed by his sisters Vicki Onusko (John) and Stephanie Nestegard and is predeceased by sisters Mary Griffin (Al) and Liz Houle (Norbert/Bert). Many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends and neighbours will remember him with love. Don was a long-time employee of the City of Hamilton, and active member of the Dundas Granite Curling Club; the Dundas Cactus Golf Club and a Tuesday golfing group at Knollwood. Don was also the Past President of the Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists; Past President of the Canadian Association of Speech Language and Audiologists and a member of the Westdale United Church. The family extends their thanks to the doctors and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and the McMaster Family Practice for their care and compassion. Friends will be received on Monday afternoon and evening from 2-5 and 7-9 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Don’s Service will be held at Westdale United Church, 99 North Oval, Hamilton on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. If you so wish, donations to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) or the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by family.

Vedell, Sarah Louise

Passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on November 16, 2022 in her 36th year. Beloved daughter to Barbara and Sean Vedell. Caring sister and best friend to Rebecca (Paul) Bovbel and Patrick (Sonja) Vedell. Loving partner to Peter Harris. Cat mom to Gord and Winnie. Niece to Patrick (Jennifer) Adams, Colin Vedell and Alexandra Vedell. Granddaughter to John (Barbara – predeceased) Vedell. Predeceased by doting grandparents Charlie and Mavis Adams and her Great Aunt Barbara Snip. Will also be sadly missed by her niece and nephews Arthur, Lucy and Oliver and her aunt Denise Vedell. A special thanks to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for their excellent care of Sarah. A Celebration of Sarah’s Life will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 2-4p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas. Raynsford, Robert “Bob” Allan


May 6, 1938 – November 16, 2022

Passed away peacefully at Bertram Place Retirement Home surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Westoby). Father of Michael (Wilma), Mark (Nadine), and Leisa (Tim). Devoted grandfather of Ashley (Corey), Bill (Sylvia), Emily, Marissa, Tricia (Bruce) and Tracy. Brother of Shirley (Philip) Morris and Len (Marie). Predeceased by Gloria (Ron) Hamilton. Brother-in-law of Bonnie (John) Barrett-Hamilton and the late Gordon Westoby (Carolyn). Uncle to many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Brenda Glass for being such a loving and caring neighbour and to all the doctors and nurses throughout the years. Thank you to the staff at Bertram Place. Proud member of the I.O.O.F, Valley City Lodge 117 for over 60 years. Employee of JI Case/Harvester. Proud member of U.S.W. 2868. Very proudly was an executive member and chief steward for many years. President of Dundas Jr. C Hockey and a member of the McDonald’s old-timers coffee club. Gregoroff, Susan, RN, BHSA, MHA

August 26th, 1956 – November 14th, 2022

On November 14th, Susan Gregoroff passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, which she fought with courage, dignity, and grace. She was a loving mother to Matthew and Emmeline and a devoted wife of 42 years to Tim. She was an adored sister of John and Bill, treasured daughter of Jim and the late Beatrice, and was loved and cherished by many family and friends. Susan worked in healthcare for 38 years, beginning as an RN at Hamilton General Hospital and retiring from Cambridge Memorial Hospital as Vice-President, Clinical Programs and Chief Nursing Executive. When she wasn’t working, and in her retirement, she was an avid seamstress and she created many beautiful items of clothing for her family, as well as beautiful quilts. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all who were privileged to know her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 2-4 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Johnston, Marjorie Norma (nee Hartwell)

Of Dundas, born November 18th, 1927 peacefully passed on the 1st of November 2022. Its with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Fredrick Johnston, sister Helene Burnie, brothers Joel Hartwell and Ken Hartwell. Survived by her sister Phyllis Murphy; children Jim Johnston (Dale), Kenneth Johnston (Cheryl), Terry Johnston (Kathy); grandchildren Asha, Travis (Monika), Chad, Nicole (Justin), Melissa (Justin), Cody, Rebecca (Brian), Rachael (Sloan); and great-grandchildren Patrick, Ella, Alitheia, Lincoln, Laikyn, Lacey and Gibson. A resident of Dundas her entire life, Marjorie was a member of the Dundas Baptist Church and participated in water aerobics at St. Joseph’s Villa for many years. Marjorie was a long-time supporter of the Salvation Army and Mission Services, always taking the time to think about the less fortunate especially around the holidays. Marjorie will always be remembered as being a devoted sports fan, always cheering on the hometown teams, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Maple Leafs, the Blue Jays and Team Canada. The time, love and devotion she showered her family with was especially apparent with her great-grandchildren; they were truly so very special to her. May you rest in peace – you will be dearly missed.
