Chapman, Gladys Lynn

March 10, 1941 – March 22, 2015 It is with sadness we announce Gladys’ passing on Sunday, March 22, 2015.  Beloved daughter of Florence and Jack Chapman (predeceased).  She will be dearly remembered by her brother Harry and his wife Anne; nieces and nephews Cameron Chapman (Charlene), Coby Wice (David) and Carley Lafosse (Bruno) and great nieces and nephews Rhaya, Julia (Alessandro), Lindsay, Riven, Zander and another on the way.  Gladys was a dedicated and devoted employee at Stelco and then the Hamilton Police Association from where she retired.  Cremation has taken place.  A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at MT. HAMILTON CEMETERY.  If you so wish, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Multiple Myeloma would be appreciated by the family.

Heaslip, June Marie (nee Goodfellow)

April 10, 1928 – March 23, 2015

Heaslip, June Marie (nee Goodfellow) – It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of June on Monday, March 23rd 2015 at The Hardy Terrace Assisted Living facility in Mt. Pleasant. Pre-deceased by her husband Fred, she is survived by her siblings, Eve Worrall, Margaret (Bruce) Gray, and John (Janice) Goodfellow. She leaves behind sons Richard (Debbie), David (Carri), Ronald (Sandy) and Paul (Darlene), along with many Grand and Great Grand children. June was a cherished, active member of the Dundas Community. From volunteering at The Dundas Museum and Meals on Wheels, to producing films (some in the Dundas Library) and developing recreational programs at the community center, she assisted wherever she was needed. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton and Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas where the Service for June will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations will be accepted to The Hardy Terrace Assisted Living Facility or a charity of your choice.

Wright, Audrey Edith (nee Headley)

August 1, 1925 – March 18, 2015

Wright_oval_AudreyWright, Audrey Edith – Peacefully in her 90th year, on Wednesday, March 18th, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family. Beloved wife of Marshall for 70 years, deeply cherished mother of Jennifer, Jan (Mike), Wendy (David) and Sandy (Phil). Adored Granny to Wendy, PJ (Paul), Marshall (Erin), Leah, Joe, Andrew, Jesse, Emily and Hayley. Adoring Great-Grandmother to Gavin, Alex, Connor and Alexandria. Survived by sister-in-law Lois Armstrong. Accomplished artist, piano teacher, a commissioner of the Girl Guides of Canada, a director of the Red Cross and in her later years, she was a dedicated volunteer with the Hamilton Family Network supporting people with disabilities. Audrey greeted life with joy and enthusiasm. Her gentle ways and generous heart improved the lives of all who met her. She leaves behind her a legacy of kindness, compassion and hope to inspire her family and friends. How happily she lived from the spirit of the heart. Special gratitude to the nursing staff at Wentworth Lodge whose tender concern for Audrey’s comfort was greatly valued by her family during these last weeks. Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held. Donations to the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA would be greatly appreciated by Audrey and her family.

Holmes, Mary Elizabeth

May 21, 1922 – March 21, 2015

Holmes, Mary – in her 92nd year, passed away peacefully on March 21st. Beloved daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Holmes (Snelling) of Dundas. Special thanks to the staff of Valley Trail at St. Joseph’s Villa for lovingly caring for Mary. Cremation has taken place, private service at a later date. Sostar, Edward

October 16, 1932 – March 18, 2015

Sostar, Edward “Ed” – It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Edward, surrounded by his loving family at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in his 83rd year. Predeceased by his wife Helen Sostar (nee McArthur), parents Nicholas and Anna Sostar and brothers Andrew and Amo Sostar, and brothers-in-law Harvey Alderdice and Allan McArthur and his wife Carolyn McArthur. Proud and loving father to Cathy Schoales (Dr. Blair), Mary Pat Davies (Dr. Gareth), Nick Sostar (Sandra), and Dr. Paul Sostar (Stephanie). Survived by his brother Steve (Shorty) Sostar (Hilda) and sisters-in-law Anne Sostar, Colleen Alderdice and Pat Baus (John). Devoted and caring Grandfather to Matthew, Daniel, Sarah, James and Laurel Schoales, Morgan and Jacqueline Davies, Brittany and Jordan Sostar and Colin, Aaron, Caitlin and Abby Sostar. Also sadly missed by all of his extended numerous family and friends. Ed was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and an active volunteer within the community. He enjoyed roughing it with “The Old Boys” on numerous fishing trips. His laughter and sense of humour will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph’s Villa, especially on Balsam Trail and also to all those who provided comfort to Ed in any way. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Augustine’s Cemetery. Hutcheon, Donna Rae (nee Parkes)

July 17, 1941 – March 14, 2015

Hutcheon, Donna Rae – It is with profound sadness the Hutcheon family announces the passing of Donna Rae Hutcheon (nee Parkes) on Saturday, March 14, 2015 surrounded by her children. Donna is predeceased by her husband John Hutcheon (1992). She is survived by her children Michael (Sandra predeceased 2010), Todd, Cathy, Scott (Anna). Will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren Matthew, Connor, Evan, Caden, Korey-Anne, Seth, Jayme (predeceased 1997), Rebecca and Christopher. Also survived by brother Stan Parkes, and sister Dorothy Buttenham (Murray). Will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to CCAC, Paramed Home Care, VON, and McMaster Family Medical for their “unbelievable and compassionate care” during her illness. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Donna will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock. To my sister, we knew early on that we would only have each other. A bond as strong as ours cannot be broken even in death. I love you. My brother Stan, thank you for being there always.
