September 6, 1919 – April 19, 2015
Barr, Jean Bernice (nee Wilson) – Passed away peacefully at Macassa Lodge on Sunday, April 19, 2015 in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband Jack (2012). She will be dearly loved and missed always by her son John and his wife Karen; grandchildren Sean (Julie), David, Jay (Kim), Scott (Melissa), Jamie and Brian (Jenny); and her 15 great-grandchildren. Jean had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter Debbie and her husband Bill Thornton; brother James Wilson and his wife, Irene. Jean was an avid gardener, she loved to knit, she loved her cottage and in her later years took a cake decorating course. She loved to share all these things with her grandkids. Thank you to Macassa Lodge for the care given to Jean over the years. A special thank you to Rev. Rick Spies of St. Paul’s United Church for keeping Jean up-to-date with events happening at the church and for remembering her with flowers at Easter and Christmas. Friends will be received by the family on Monday, April 27th from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Jean’s Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. Interment Grove Cemetery. If you so wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Otonichar, Michael Francis- Suddenly at his home on Friday, April 10, 2015, in his 52nd year. Beloved son of the late Frank Otonichar and Gayle Dunn, and step-son of Ida Otonichar and the late Archie Dunn. Loving brother to Jim and his wife Tracey and the late Patrick, and step-brother of Jason and Anita. Step-uncle of Madeline, Robert and Hannah and honourary uncle to many more. Mike will be sadly missed by his many close friends. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday morning from 10:30 until the time of Mike’s Service at 12 noon at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place.

Spitzer , Dr. Mary Lou – July 25, 1936 to April 10, 2015
Mary Louise Spitzer was born to Dr. Wilfred Waite and Florence Gowman in Brantford, ON. She died following a sudden and unexpected illness on Friday. She was predeceased by her brother William (Ursula), is survived by her brother Robert, sister Susan and her children Paul (Nancy); Pam (Kevin); Carl (Kim); Brenda (Eamonn) and beloved grandchildren Zoё, Hanna, Andrew, Emily, Stephanie, Caroline, Ryan, Louise, Seamus and Rachel. She was predeceased and fondly regarded by Dr. Walter Spitzer. She was greatly loved by her sister-in-law Ruth Matisko (Barnard) and will be dearly missed by her eight nieces and nephews. Mary Lou studied medicine at the University of Toronto, followed by her specialization in Ophthalmology in Michigan. She will be remembered for her compassion and skill as a physician in Dundas, ON with partner Dr. Keith Mann and her amazing office team whom she loved. She performed countless vision saving surgeries and mentored many medical residents at McMaster University. Mary Lou was passionate about providing medical care to poor, underserviced communities in Newfoundland through the Grenfell Mission as well as in D. Republic, Haiti and most recently with Medical Ministry International in Columbia, still providing medical care at age 74! She was deeply committed to St. Cuthbert’s Church where she was an elder and beloved friend and will be greatly missed by the McMaster Women`s Group. Mary Lou greatly enjoyed her “retirement” years and especially the ten years she was able to enjoy with her companion Len Huget. Mary Lou was incredibly cultured and loved reading, travel, theatre, music, antiques, history, Bridge and was an accomplished seamstress, chef, artist and mentor. She will be remembered as a multi-talented, humble, gracious, generous and optimistic person who was a wonderful friend and an amazing mother.
The family will receive visitors at Cattel, Eaton and Chambers Funeral home, 53 Main St., Dundas on Thursday, April 16 from 6pm to 9pm. A memorial service to celebrate Mary Lou`s life will be held on Friday, April 17 at 2:30pm at St. Cuthbert`s Church, 2 Bond St. Hamilton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Medical Ministry International Canada.

Aubert, Anita (nee Pettifer) – Peacefully at home with family by her side, Anita passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 in her 84th year. Predeceased by her husband Ken (1981). Dearly loved by her children Jennifer Hamilton (Ken Cook), Brian (Susan), Carey (Karen) and Reg (Deb); her brother Gerald Pettifer (Jocelyn) and sister Frances Taylor and her grandchildren Melisa, Steven, Brittany (Tim), Christy, Brandon, Ryan, Jason, Nathan and Ashley and her great-granddaughter Zoey. She will be missed very much by her two best canine friends, Jack and Jill. Anita was a very down to earth, simple kind of woman who loved her family, loved to bake and was a hard worker. Special thanks are extended to the VON and to Leslie Ciccoria. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where Anita’s Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Grove Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If you so wish, donations to the Stedman Community Hospice would be very much appreciated by the family.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother shortly after her 90th birthday with her loving family at her side at Hamilton General Hospital on Saturday April 11th, 2015. Sadly missed by her children Glenda Mc Donald (Len Martel) Mary Rumley (Grant) Irene Boyle (Robert Totten) and two of her step children Phyllis Mc Donald and William J. Mc Donald Jr. Will also be missed by many of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hebert of Killarney, Ontario. Predeceased by her late husband William (Bill) J, Mc Donald, son Joey Mc Donald, two grandsons Wesley Lahaie and Nicholas Boyle, sisters Flora, Ella, Robina, and brothers Raymond, Bert, Urban and Elwood. A special thank you to the Hamilton General Hospital Acute Stroke Unit, CCAC, Paramed Home Healthcare, VON Respite Care. Visitation will take place at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street Dundas, on Tuesday April 14 from 2-4 & 7–9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street in Dundas, Ontario. Cremation to follow. Newell, Barbara Margaret (nee Hunt) – peacefully after a short illness at St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Monday, April 6, 2015, Barbara passed away in her 84th year. Leaving behind her loving husband Bernie of 65 years. Dear mother of Janet (Stephen Jewell). Sister to John, predeceased by sisters Irene and Elsie. Also remembered by family and many friends in England. Barbara enjoyed travelling and working at Minuteman Press for over 20 years. Volunteer knitting for the less fortunate was her passion. Special thanks to St. Joseph’s Villa, also to the Doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital and the General. In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. If you so wish, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
