March 22, 1949 – January 23, 2016
Miro lost his battle to the universal forces that enlisted him on January 23, 2016. Terribly missed by wife and best friend, Jo-Anne Kershaw; beloved dog, Ellie; and by all who have a story to tell about their memorable and funny encounters with him. He fought long and hard and made sure that all who met him during these past few months would remember his fight. He was hugely loved by most, misunderstood by a few, and miserably let down by the medical profession. Charming, witty and uniquely intelligent, he was also enigmatic and sometimes reclusive, troubled by the dark memories that are often the plight of good police men and women. Over the course of a storied and colourful career with the Toronto Police Service, he helped put away some high profile criminals and put integrity first in all his dealings with the public. An accomplished pianist, he was also a lover of orchids and birds, butterflies and women. Predeceased by parents, Mary and Miro, and brother, Zdenek. Survived by brothers Milan and Jaro. In lieu of flowers or donations, Miro would ask that you offer a biscuit to a stranger’s dog, give cold water to the garbage man on a hot summer day, kibitz with the checkout girl, and throw some milkweed seed into the wind.
The universe needs you, Miro. You can’t do better than that. Je t’adore.
Celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 29, at 11 a.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, Ontario.

July 28, 1932 – January 18, 2016
Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with his family by his side on Monday, January 18th 2016 in his 84th year. Much loved husband and best friend of Anne. Cherished father of Robert (Karen) and Laurie. Survived by his brother Jim (Pat) and sister Joyce (Neal). Bob was a loving grandfather to Hayden, Brianne, Lara, Josh, Meghan and Logan. Bob will also be sadly missed by many other family, friends and nieces and nephews. Bob cherished the time he spent with all of his grandchildren and was also a fine local artist being quite involved with the Dundas Valley School of Art. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A private family funeral will be held. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

Thede, Gordon (Joe) Ainsley – Peacefully surrounded by family, Gordon (Joe) passed away at home on January 18th, 2016 in his 81st year, with his beloved wife Pat of 60 years by his side. Dear father of Tammy (David), Lori (Rob), and Karen (Martin), loving grandfather of Will (Kate), Mitch, Kyle (Lisa), Lauren (Tanner), Cole, Noah, and Sierra. Predeceased by his father, Gordon Thede and mother Kathleen Thede (Matthews). Survived by his brother Mike and sister Beverly. He will be remembered and deeply missed by his friends and family, the TUFF group, the Queen’s gang, Stelco friends and the extended Coyne family. A loyal graduate of Queens and a proud Electrical Engineer, Gordon (Joe) worked at Stelco for over 30 years. He 
was an athlete, sailor, innovator, photographer, music lover, past President of the Hamilton Royal Astronomical Society, camper, and enjoyed genealogy. Gord (Joe) was able to fix everything and he was happiest when surrounded by family, working on a project. Special thanks to the Juravinski Cancer Centre and his caring nurse Kyle from VON. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Gordon (Joe) will be held Friday morning at 10 o’clock. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16th 2016 in his 50th year. Loving son of Tom (Val) Walker. Will be sadly missed by his children Aidan and Braelyn. Much loved brother of Karen (Sean) Ryckman and Amanda Walker. Also sadly missed by his niece and nephews Sydney, Dylan and Jacob. Dwain will also be remembered by his many family and friends. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, January 21st from 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas where the Celebration of Dwain’s Life will be held on Friday, January 22nd at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.

Schurter, Walter A. – Peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 8th 2016 in his 94th year. Walter will be sadly missed by his loving wife Theresa. Cherished father of Debbie (Kelly – 2009) Toyota and Sheila (John) Gardiner. Survived by his brothers Wilbert, Gerald (Irene), Elmer (Ann), Jerome and his sisters Eleanor (Terry), Doreen, Joan and Helen (Jack). Predeceased by his brothers Clarence, Br. Raymond, Rev. Father Norman and his sister Marguerite. Walter will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Neil (Kate), Ryan (Natalia), Sean and Kéli and greatgranddaughter Aurora. The Schurter family would like to express a special thank you to the CCAC, especially Rebecca Harrison and the palliative staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for the tremendous care and compassion shown towards Walter. A private family Funeral Mass has taken place. In Walter’s memory, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre or St. Peter’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

AGNES FLEMING FRAME FROST
On January 12, 2016, on a cold and sparkling morning in Winnipeg, Agnes Fleming Frame Frost, in her 91st year, slipped peacefully from this world. She is reunited now with her beloved husband, Lorne and her eldest grandson, Matthew. Agnes was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She took great interest and had great pride in the activities and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her son Rick and wife Nancy, her daughter Margaret and husband Bruce, her son Jim and her grandchildren, Ryan and Alison, Jonathan and Ashley, Sean and Andrea, Carolyn and Jeff, Justin and Sarah, Lorena Frost Barriere and many nieces and nephews. Agnes taught her great grandchildren, Reese, Heidi, Emma, Bridget, Samantha and Oscar to call her GG, short for Great Grandma. She loved their hugs and kisses and many drawings and homemade cards were tucked away to be enjoyed again.
Agnes had the joy of life. She was enthusiastic about all her activities and friends. Her Bridge and Euchre friends at the Seniors’ Club, her Bowling teammates, Bingo companions, as well as travelling friends, made her life full and enjoyable. She loved a good joke, outings anywhere, and a day trip to the casino. Those one armed bandits were her favourites! Agnes and Lorne were the original successful owners of Frosty’s Fish and Chips, and anyone who dropped into the store for take-out was treated to the best example of how to put customers first. Chatting and joking, they made their customers welcome and produced a delicious product. Together, Agnes and Lorne spent time traveling in Lorne’s Model T Ford antique cars, worked tirelessly for the Wentworth Pioneer Village, and enjoyed many an evening of square dancing. Agnes and Lorne loved the cottage at Red Bay and nothing was better than a game of cards with the family. We all learned early, “never send a boy to do a man’s job!” when playing cards with Agnes.
Agnes loved her football teams. At a Blue Bomber game in Winnipeg, she nearly had family members pitched from the game because she hollered (her word) loudly and relentlessly for her beloved Ti-Cats! Agnes was known to have locked family members out of the house if they came calling when an important game was on TV. She gave all of us many smiles and shaped the values of our family life.
It was a life well lived and we will miss her dearly. Rest in Peace, great lady.
Funeral Services for Agnes will be held at the Turner Family Funeral Home at 53 Main St. Dundas ON Monday January 18, 2016. Visiting will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:30 PM. Everyone is invited for refreshments following the service.
In celebration of Agnes’s life, donations may be made to the Dundas Museum and Archives, 139 Park St. W. Dundas, ON L9H 1X8 or a charity of your choice.
