Gerrit (Gerry) VanderDussen, 81, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2017 at Island Park Retirement Home in Campbellford, with his family at his side. Gerry leaves behind and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Marilyn (Pettit), his daughter Sharon (Steve), his sons, David (Mary) and Lorne (Diane), and twelve grandchildren: Marianne, William, Iain, Elena (Emad), Livia (Mark), Emma (Avi), Aaron, Joshua and Sarah, and three great-grandchildren: Tessa, Ammar and Ada as well as extended family members and friends. Pre-deceased by daughter Nancy. In 1949, at the age of 13, Gerry immigrated to Canada from Holland along with his parents Herman and Lena VanderDussen and three siblings, Cathy (deceased 2016), Peter and Ada. At the age of 15 he enrolled as an apprentice machinist at Bertram’s in Dundas to learn the trade that was to become his career. Gerry worked briefly at McMaster University after completing his apprenticeship; then secured a career position at Stelco in Hamilton. Gerry took pride in his work and continued to provide machining services from his garage workshop for family and acquaintances after retiring from Stelco. Additionally, many hours were spent in volunteer time to provide support services to the local Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) workshop. Known for his gentle smile and commitment to family and community activities, Gerry lived a life of being an example to others. Visitation and a service commemorating Gerry will be held Thursday, February 16th at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, ON, L9H 2P7. Friends will be received starting at 12:00; the memorial service will begin at 1:30. A social tea will follow. Interment will take place at Fairfield Church cemetery at 4:30. Donations in his memory can be made to the CNIB or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Jones, Francis “Frank” – It is with great sadness that the family of the late Frank Jones announce his passing at his home on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Pearl in 2015. Loving father of Frank Jr. (Kathy), Carol-Ann (Gary), and David (Shannon). Loving grandfather of Ashley (Trevor), Natasha, Grace, Halle and Liam and great-grandfather of Mason and Jayce. Frank will be sadly missed by his brothers Patrick, Billy, Kenny and Colin and was predeceased by his sister Jacqueline. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral Mass to be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Thursday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Cancer Assistance Program CAP. Richardson, George Abott – Passed away peacefully in his 88th year on February 11, 2017. He is survived by Marie, his best friend and beloved wife of many years, and will be missed by his nieces and nephews, especially Tom Richardson. George was born on November 20, 1929, in Ancaster. He worked for Howell Lithographing in Burlington for many years. George and Marie were a well-travelled couple who thoroughly enjoyed one another’s company. Marie shared George’s love of flying, and in their spare time, they would fly around the Hamilton area in George’s Tiger Moth. They also loved animals, and over the years opened their home to a succession of dogs and birds. George was an avid golfer and member of the Dundas Golf Club. He also prized his cars, which he lovingly buffed to a high sheen every week. He will be remembered fondly by friends and neighbours. At George’s request, there will be no funeral service. The interment, which has been arranged by the Turner Family Funeral Home, will take place on Thursday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in Woodland Cemetery. All are welcome. James, Vianna May – Passed away peacefully in her 92nd year at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 with family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Harold. Dearly loved and missed by her sons Gary (Nancy) and Daryl; granddaughter Kimberlee (Graham); great-grandchildren Ethan and Sydney and sister Madeline (Clifford) Arnold. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Calvin and Elizabeth Gumbert and her brother Charlie. Vianna was a long time member of Rockton United Church and UCW. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas where Vianna’s Service will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Hannis, Lloyd “Duke” – Peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 5, 2017, in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Debbie (nee Vollick), and loving father to Stephen (Bonnie) and Kyle (Tammy). Proud Papa to Erika and Sierra and sadly missed by his brothers Wayne Peters (late Karen Robillard) and Wilson Hancock (Christine) of NL, sister-in-law Kay Johnson (late Rolph) and brother-in-law Larry Vollick. Lloyd will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
