Beloved husband of Pearl (nee Mann). Loving father of Kim (Dave) Thompson, Sherri (Carl) Friesen, Jennifer (Dave) Klarer, Jeffrey (Fiorella) Hoogerdyk, Tamara Hoogerdyk (Bill Atkinson); his 10 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Sunday January 20th, 2019 from 1-3p.m. and 5-7p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 21st, 2019 at 1:00p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial to follow. Donations in memory can be made to a charity of your choice.

Greenwood, Vera Edith Leona (nee Grightmire)

November 12, 1924 – January 10, 2019

Passed away peacefully in her 95th year at St. Joseph’s Villa, Dundas. Her sons, William “Bill”, John “Shin”, and Mark “Mickey Mouse” or “Caboose”, and their families were at her side. Born, raised and married Catholic at St. Augustine’s Church in Dundas, Edith wore her Dundas crest always proudly on her sleeve. Edith, besides raising three boys and many of their friends, was able to take on a service of participation in politics for over 30 years. Her husband, of 59 years, Walter, passed away in 2000. Besides her three sons and their spouses, Mary, Bonnie and Beverly, she leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren! Very special thanks to Mabel Hoyes and Mary Thurston for their support and love over the years. As well, thanks to the LIHN’s and Bayshore for their compassion and support. The family extends their thanks to the staff at the Villa, and especially on Willow Grove. Their kindness and caring shone brightly! They brought great comfort and dignity as they cared for both Edith and the family at this difficult time. Friends are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Monday January 14th from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m.. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday January 15th at 11:30am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Villa (Willow Grove).

Taylor, Avril Jean (nee Evans)

Passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 5, 2019. Born in Wales to Harold and Blanche Evans, and the sister of Ian, she was the much beloved wife of Martin, the wonderful mother of Stuart (Kira), Sarah (Paul) and Susannah (Adam), and the loving nana of Iona, Oriana, Abigail, Maia and Julianne. Educated in the UK, as a highly respected teacher and administrator, Avril’s career included positions in Vancouver, Hamilton and Victoria. Sustained and empowered by her Christian faith, she radiated love and grace to all who had the privilege to know her as friend and colleague. She will be greatly missed by her family and wide circle of friends in Canada, the UK and the US. A service of celebration of her life will be held at Dundas Baptist Church on Saturday, January 19 at 11 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be directed to the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation, International Development Enterprises (IDE) Canada, and Circle of Friends for Newcomers (Hamilton).

Wilson-Zebic, Dr. Thursa Rose (nee Wilson)

July 20, 1947 – December 21, 2018

Wilson-Zebic, Dr. Thursa Rose – After a long battlewith severe health issues, Thursa passed away peacefully on December 21, 2018 at the age of 71.  Predeceased by her husband Dave Zebicand her parents Andy and Iris (nee Tye) Wilson.  Thursa will be greatly missed by her brother Drew Wilson and his wife Linda Kareckas; cousin Iris and her husband Gary Weller; Godson Brayden Roszl; very close friends Doug and Joanne Roche; mother-in-law Doris Noseck; sister-in-law Pam (Ted) Bajzert and family (Jordan, Caryn, Lily); and her beloved Goldendoodle Annie Brett. Thursa always had a special love for animals, which led to her career as a veterinarian.  She owned and operated her own practice, Niagara Pet Hospital in Grassie Ontario until she retired and moved to her dream home on Sturgeon Lake in Fenelon Falls.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held January 19, 2019, at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas, Ontario from 2-4.  Special thanks to PSWs Kim, Rebecca, Ashley, and Brittany;Occupational Therapist Valerie; and nurse Cathy at Ross Memorial Lindsay, Ontario. Donations to the SPCA, World Vision, Canadian Wildlife Federation, IFAW, or the Toronto Zoo would be appreciated by the family.

Homulos, Ruth Catherine (nee Shaw)

October 24, 1920 – December 29, 2018

It is with great sadness we mourn the loss of our mom, the heart and soul of our family on December 29th, 2018 in her 99th year. Devoted wife of the late Victor, dear mother of Marion, Cathy Lawrence (Greg), Vic (Santina), Laurie Neville (Doug), Dave (Jean) and Jeff (Cindy). Loving grandma to Sarah, Josh, Laura, Melissa, Tara, Becky, Stacey, Jessica, Kenzie and Michael, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Jack Shaw (deceased), Lorne Shaw, Betty Roberts (deceased) and Bess Floyd. Mom’s life centred around her husband and family. She inspired each and every one of us. Thanks to the staff at Wentworth Lodge for their outstanding kindness and caring for our Mom. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, January 3, from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, where a service for Ruth will be held Friday January 4 at 11:00a.m. Interment to take place at Grove Cemetery.
